CCISD Trustee to speak at anti-government extremist group

March 19, 2024

True Texas Project has been listed as one of 15 hate and anti-government groups in Texas. This list includes the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Mom’s for Liberty, and Patriot Front a white supremacist group. This local chapter was banned from holding meetings at the Webster Presbyterian Church after the elders learned of their background.

So Scott Bowen, a CCISD Trustee is going to be their speaker tonight. The meeting is open to everyone so it should be very interesting. True Texas Project attempted to hold a forum for League City Council candidates but it was cancelled due to lack of interest by the candidates. At least they know better than Scott.

Last August True Texas Project hosted Chris Russo. Who is Chris Russo? Glad you asked. From a previous post about Scott Bowen affiliation with Russo:

Chris Russo. (More on Chris below) Director of Texans for Strong Borders. Was seen chauffeuring [Nick] Fuentes [known white supremacist] to and from the meeting at Pale Horse Strategies this month. Multiple people, who asked not to be named to avoid drawing the attention of white nationalists, told the Tribune that Russo has ties to Fuentes’ so-called “groyper” movement.

Scott and Russo are buddies. Again from a previous post:

This is truly strange coincidence. Russo, Cheshire, and Bowen graduated from Texas A&M. All three were on the Student Senate together. Russo was the President of the Senate the year right after Bowen. Cheshire co-authored a bill concerning the Gay Community at Texas A&M on religious freedom grounds. Russo and Cheshire are directors for Texans for Strong Borders, an anti-immigrant PAC primarily funded by Defend Texas Liberty. Russo is listed as the Treasurer with an address in El Lago.

This is who Scott Bowen is associating with. The Texas Tribune wrote an extensive set of articles on all of these individuals. I spoke at a CCISD board meeting calling on Bowen to disavow these organizations and to return the $2000 contribution he received from Defend Texas Liberty. So now he is going to speak at one of these organizations.

Film at 11. Literally.

The case against student loan forgiveness

March 18, 2024

Hear me out.

The Biden administration has been trying to forgive federal student loans for thousands of students. So far he has been semi-successful. There are a lot of obstacles remaining and I doubt if he could get a bill passed in Congress no matter who is in control of the two chambers. I’ve got a problem with loan forgiveness.

I feel the pain of those who are saddled with debt. I walked out of school with a loan that took 10 years to pay off but I paid it. My biggest concern about loan forgiveness is when does it stop. Let’s assume next year Biden is successful in wiping out all federal student loans. What happens to the loans the following year? And the year afterward? When does the forgiveness stop? This is unsustainable.

Also who is expected to pay for this forgiveness? It’s not free money. Someone is going to pay for it and it’s the taxpayers. Yes student loan debt is a problem but simply forgiving a loan that someone agreed to is not the answer.

Instead how about eliminating the interest on the loan as long as the debt is paid on a periodic basis. How about giving credits to those who work in education, the military, or other qualified professions? How about giving credits to those who volunteer with various organizations that benefit your community? How about helping those with debt instead of just giving them a free ride for something they agreed to?

Then how about fixing the damn problem so it won’t continue to happen? Interest rates should be low or completely eliminated. Loans should not be bloated by adding on non school related expenses such as entertainment. How about regulating the cost of education based upon income? And once the loan is due the payments should be flexible based upon income. There are many ways to relieve student debt.

Forgiveness isn’t that way.

Keller ISD Update: Emails show who knew what and when

March 5, 2024

This is going to get much worse……

Email obtained via an open records request (not by me) show that the Patriot Mobile Trustees Sandi Walker, Micah Young, and Joni Smith were notified about the Dutch film crew and was in communication with them. A Facebook post explains it in depth.

The poster asks some very valid questions like who else knew about this? What devices were used to conduct KISD business? Are any of them personal devices? From the emails it sure seems like all of them received the email from the Dutch crew then went silent choosing to conduct their business on their personal account.

I believe it was made very clear that if you use your personal device for official business then you could possibly be in violation of the open records laws if you delete them. I do not believe a person filing a grievance would be able to obtain any records, but I bet if a lawsuit is filed these records will have to be produced.

The emails clearly show the filming was political in nature. They contacted Walker and Smith and Walker forward it to Young asking for comments. The crew said:

Trustee Walker, who has since resigned, responded with:

There is going to be a lot of sunshine being shoved up someones back end in the near future. Trustees who had any prior knowledge of this need to come out, come clean, and then resign.

Raising Campaign Cash: CCISD Elections

March 4, 2024

CCISD Trustee elections for District 4 will be held on May 4, 2024. Candidates should raise money from within the district and refuse all PAC money.

Over the last couple of years school districts across the State have been flooded with out of district, special interest, PAC money. It used to be a school board election would cost about $2000 and a few signs. That has changed. In Keller ISD Patriot Mobile PAC spent $150,000 to elect three white wing MAGAts to the board. One has since resigned and one will soon. CCISD has had it’s own infusion of PAC money.

In 2023 Defend Texas Liberty, a PAC that has since become irrelevant due to their association with a known white supremacist, financed Peter Lauzon’s campaign with a $5000 donation. They attempted to donate to another candidate but she refused their donation. They donated $2000 to Trustee Scott Bowen who has refused to return it. Harris County Republican Party has also donated by sending out mailers.

School Board elections should be about three things and three things only, Students, Teachers, and Parents. Nothing else. This years election should be local. Candidates should pledge the following:

  • Will not accept PAC money
  • Will not accept out of district donations
  • Will not accept in-kind donations from partisan organizations
  • Will not self finance their campaigns

Trustee Jeff Larson and Albert Wittliff should both take this pledge. Raise money from within the district, from your neighbors, parents and teachers. Out of district influence must stop. This is our school district. We do not need meddling from white supremacist organizations or any political organizations in our elections.

You can find campaign finance reports for both candidates at the CCISD Elections webpage. Both candidates start the campaign with little or no funds. First reports are due April 5.

Wild Keller ISD Board meeting expected tonight!

February 29, 2024

The first board meeting for Keller Independent School Board after the filming incident at a high school is schedule for 5:00 PM Feb 29 (tonight). It is expected to be wild.

Parents are not happy with the board, specifically Trustee Micah Young, who escorted a foreign, right wing, extreme, evangelical film crew through the school, filming students without consent from their parents. School board Trustee Sandi Walker organized the event and resigned immediately once outed. Trustee Young’s Facebook post apologizing for the incident has been flooded by hundreds of parents calling for him to resign.

NOTE TO SPEAKERS: Those wishing to address the Board during the Audience with Individuals portion of the agenda can do so by filling out the online sign-up form. Individuals may not sign up in person at the time of the meeting. Who funded Keller ISD Candidates, Young, Walker, Shaw?

February 23, 2024

Patriot Mobile PAC.

Parents are pretty mad about KISD Trustee Walker and Young invited a foreign, evangelical, film crew into a public high school and filming their children without their consent. So who helped put these candidates into office and how much did they donate? Patriot Mobile. A lot.

Patriot Mobile PAC was created in January 2022 and funded mainly by Patriot Mobile LLC, a cell phone company. Since then they have raised $1,341,515. Of this total, 98%, came from two donors. $1,200,000 came from Patriot Mobile LLC and $120,000 came from Bryan Bradford, an investor in Austin, Texas. Patriot Mobile’s share is 90%.

Since January 2022 Patriot Mobile PAC spent $985,385. Of that $392,000 was spent on candidates in school district races and MUDs. Each KISD candidate Walker, Young and Shaw received $45,321 for their campaigns. As I said, this is A LOT for a school race that usually costs a couple of thousand dollars. All three were elected.

If you look at their personal campaign finance reports they each raised just a few thousand dollars but let Patriot Mobile PAC spend $45,321 on each of their campaigns hidden in campaign finance reports on the Texas Ethics Commission website. They never denounced their participation. They never denounced an LLC meddling in local school boards. They gladly accepted it. They took their money and have done their bidding.

And now two years later one has resigned (Walker) and one should (Young)

Keller ISD parents to voice their concerns at upcoming board meeting

February 22, 2024

This is the first board meeting to be held after the film crew controversy at a Keller ISD high school west of Fort Worth.

Parents of Keller ISD have an opportunity to demand accountability at the upcoming school board meeting to be held Feb 29, 2024 at 5 PM. Details can be found here. The meeting will also be online. Hopefully parents will give the board an earful after two of their members were involved with a foreign Christian right film crew who was escorted into a high school. The film crew was part of a group that published a documentary titled “God, Jesus, Trump.”.

One of the members quickly resigned while the other, Micah Young, is hanging on claiming he “I briefly assisted my colleague in an interview about Texas public schools.” That is truly a bunch of horse shit. That “colleague” has resigned. The film crew claims they will air the segment with the kids faces obscured.

That’s not enough. Heads need to roll. Young should be removed. Parents should file a grievance against Young, file a suit against the film crew and the former board member. This is truly unacceptable. Who in their far right mind thinks this was acceptable at a school?

Hundreds call for Keller ISD Trustee to resign

February 21, 2024

Parents in Keller ISD are not happy.

Hundreds of parents are calling for the resignation of KISD Trustee Micah Young. Young was elected in 2022 and has been caught in a controversy at a KISD High School. According to CBS: KELLER – Parents and students feel their safety and security have been violated after an unauthorized evangelical film crew from the Netherlands entered and filmed at Central High School on Feb 9. without authorization from the school district.

A Trustee who escorted the film crew through the school has already resigned and hundred of parents have called for Young to resign also. He was present when the crew was filming. Young has posted a response to his Facebook page stating:

He has 386 comments and all seem to be calling for him to resign. Even the President of the Board has called for his resignation. Young should resign and if he doesn’t someone needs to file a grievance against him. Parents should also file against the film crew. Here is just a sample of the responses.

It’s F***ing Friday: Stop whining

February 2, 2024

Welcome to Fucking Friday. It’s like “What Grinds My Gears” only worse.

Elections are just 10 months away and MSNBC is already giving air to all of the whiny little voters saying they aren’t going to vote because “No one is reaching out to them”, or “He isn’t doing enough on [name your issue], or “No one is kissing my ass”. It is getting old. It is time to grow the fuck up.

The adult comment when considering who to vote for is “I will vote for the individual who I have an opportunity to sway, to move my issue forward. He/She will never be perfect but I have to chose the one that I have a chance with”. And that is not fucking trump.

Just remember when your feelings are hurt, your panties are in a wad, you’re crossing your arms across your chest, and you refuse to vote, you risk electing someone that will not only screw you and your family but everyone else in the United States.

Many of you did exactly that in 2016. How did that work out for you, your family, women, immigrants, the Gay community, teachers, police, Muslims, Jews, non-Christians, victims of gun violence, and others? As a Mexican American you helped put a target on my back because of the hate speech ushered in by Trump. How in the fuck did acting like a fucking child help move your damn issue forward. Because of that vote in 2016 the United States Supreme Court has screwed us all for the next 30-40 years. Decades!

So this time, do us a favor. Grow up. Vote for someone that you have an opportunity to have a reasonable discussion with to move your particular concern forward. Voice your concern, be passionate about your issue, but when it comes time to do the right thing, do it.

Just fucking do it.

Local Elected Officials vote in support of vouchers for rich kids

November 20, 2023

They are voting against the wishes of the community.

State Representatives Dennis Paul of Clear Lake, Terry Wilson of Galveston, and Little Baby Briscoe Cain of Deer Park joined a handful of State Representatives and voted against an amendment to strip vouchers out of an education bill. Paul and Wilson also voted to not impeach Texas Attorney General Paxton. At least Baby Briscoe had enough common sense to be sensible. Only 23 House Representative voted to give Paxton a pass.

The amendment to remove vouchers from the bill was supported by 63 Democrats and 21 Republicans. Vouchers would give parents $10,000 of your tax dollars to send rich kids to a private school. It’s not a popular idea especially in the rural areas where schools are significantly underfunded. In Clear Lake the district is against vouchers. The Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce is against vouchers as is the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership.

For me I can’t see how this is even constitutional. If someone is paying $2000 in school taxes, why should we give them $8000 more from our taxes just so their kids can attend a private school? Why should they get more than they put in? If vouchers were going to pass they should get no more than they put in. You put in $2000? You get $2000 and nothing more.

Private schools are not cost efficient and most parents can not afford the tuition or the transportation even with the voucher. Vouchers have nothing to do with school “choice”. It is nothing more than give away to rich kids.
