La Marque City Council held a special meeting to address their financial crisis. More on that below.
Councilman Joseph Lowry suffered broken arm while running around the room patting himself on the back yelling “I TOLD YOU SO! I TOLD YOU SO!”. Lowry was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced stupid.
But seriously. I took one for the team and watched the entire meeting. It wasn’t pretty. You can watch the meeting once it has been posted on the Council YouTube channel. Good for the Council and the members of the administration for keeping a cool head and swiftly moving to address the problem. The City addressed the situation with a press release which you can read below. Here are the important points that were made during the meeting:
So They have voted on a solution while Lowry sits back and types left handed continuing to baselessly blame the Cabal of La Marque.

Probably not.
State Representative Dennis Paul of the Bay Area has already been anointed by the party for State Senator replacing Senator Money Mayes Middleton. He isn’t the best choice considering his lack luster performance for the community. He has spent his 10 year career in the Texas House on the Insurance Committee and we have all suffered for it. He believes in guns for all with no restrictions on criminals or drug dealers carrying weapons in public. He has never held a town hall type of meeting with his constituents. He is a mule for Greg Abbott and carries the bills to restrict voting. He cosponsored the voucher bill. His fundraising capabilities are pathetic except for PAC donations. Unfortunately he is all the Republicans have. He is all we have.
Senate District 11 is such a gerrymandered district the winner of the republican primary most probably will win the general election. True Conservatives need to challenge Paul in the primary. They need to restore dignity to the office. They need to focus on the people in the district not just the business community. They can advocate for safe gun ownership like they have in the past. They can fully fund public education and end the voucher program. They can do something about the out of control insurance crisis, at the very least, meeting with those in the district who are suffering. They can return to their core Republican Christian values.
Is there a conservative willing to take back their party from extremists like Paul?

Can he do the job? Absolutely!
Representative James Talarico came to our club meeting last year to discuss public education issues. Our usual monthly crowd of 80 or so ballooned to over 150. It was an overflow crowd, an interesting meeting, and a great speaker. Today Talarico will be announcing he will be joining the race for Senate to challenge Ken Paxton or John Cornyn.
Most probably Paxton will be the nominee. He is a perfect representation of the Republican Party and one all republicans can be proud of. He is an incredible ass kisser and would serve Trump well. He cheated on his wife. He was overwhelmingly impeached by the Texas House. He was sued, and lost, a whistle blower suit and will ask the state to pay the $6.7 Million judgement. He is openly defying court rulings. And he is now mired in a nasty divorce. So Paxton has all the values that Republicans admire. Senator John Cornyn can’t kiss enough ass to save his own. His time in the Senate is over.
Talarico is the exact opposite, not perfect, but not Paxton. He is young, 36 years old. A State Representative with experience with passing legislation. He is a former middle school teacher and a devout Christian, one who can relate to those who worship, no matter who they worship. It is an interesting combination. Talarico will probably disappoint the extreme far left but then again they thought Obama was a far lefty. Talarico will join former Congressman Colin Allred and Terry Virts in the race.
So Texans will have a choice between an impeached, lawless, adulterer and the winner of the Democratic primary. Just remember who they voted for in November 2024.

It’s Satire Sunday but this is NOT satire.
You have to wonder what the living fuck is wrong with Republicans. They are truly out of their fucking minds. They claim to be the party of “law and order” yet not only supported the pardon of those who beat up police they are now willing to give them millions of your tax dollars to apologize. Trump claims they were “treated so unfairly” but said nothing about the cops who lost their lives, the families who lost loved ones, or those who suffered permanent injuries. According to his new ass kissing news source, Newsmax:
“A lot of the people that are in the government now talk about it because a lot of the people in government really like that group of people,” he said, referring to the Jan. 6 defendants, who he described as protesting “peacefully and patriotically.”
Trump has already paid $5 Million to the family of Ashli Babbitt an Air Force veteran who was shot and killed as she attempted to enter the House Chamber. She is also going to receive full military funeral honors much like Trump will once his rotten ass is over. Now they are considering creating a panel much like the compensation panel for the victims of the 9/11 attacks. They would determine how much of our money to distribute based upon loss of work and mental anguish.
This is a message to those who want to disrupt the 2026 elections: “If you resort to violence you will be compensated fairly”. As they said, Jan 6 was just practice for November 2026.

If you have focused solely on the disruptions brought about by Councilman Joseph Lowry (his history is here) you probably think La Marque is a hell hole of corruption, run by a Mexican cartel, and swirling in debt. It’s not. Not even close.
Lowry has been bashing the city, the employees, and even some who live in La Marque claiming fraud and corruption for over 2 years and yet there isn’t a single ongoing investigation. He has become the Chicken Little of La Marque. And it is getting old. Prior to his election there were few, if any, negative stories written about La Marque. Ever since there has been numerous articles written by the Galveston Daily News and multiple Houston TV stations, with none on the baseless allegations being spewed by Chicken Little.
Take a look at some interesting facts about La Marque Texas:
La Marque is the All American City of 2025. Don’t listen to chicken little.

I thought Republicans hated socialism.
The Texas Fair Plan is basically socialized home insurance. It is an insurance policy financially backed by the State of Texas and operated by the Texas Fair Plan Association. The TFP is like the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association the first socialized insurance plan in Texas. TWIA was created back in 1971 and was to be the “insurance of last resort”. Currently it is almost the ONLY resort available to the 14 counties on the Texas coast. TFP was created in 1995 and covers the entire State. It is also the “insurance of last resort” but is becoming the ONLY resort in the Bay Area.

If you are struggling with the rising cost of your home insurance you might want to reach out to an agent and see if you qualify. Personally I think the Bay Area is going to be like the coastal areas where the mighty free market will be allowed to flee the market leaving us with the Texas Socialize Insurance Association. Maybe this is a good option if it can be improved.
I really thought the Republican Party hated socialism.

That’s a no brainer.
Well the gun nut mentality ushered in by the Texas Republican Party has destroyed another couple of families. A 11 year old playing Ding Dong Dashing was shot and killed by a 42 year old homeowner. Two fucking families destroyed by the cowards of Texas who will not stand up and demand action from our elected officials. Instead they keep voting for the people who value guns over kids, who have created a gun nut society, and who have given easy access to guns to those who should not have them including someone who is stupid enough to shoot a kid in the back.
Gdamn. What in the living fuck is wrong with us? Conservatives used to respect the legal ownership of firearms. Now they don’t have a problem with allowing anyone to walking around with a loaded AR15 in public, dressed up like GIJoe with body armor, gun silencers, and 100 magazine clips. Here in Texas anyone, including felons, gang members, and drug dealers can open carry because there is no restrictions on who can carry and the police are not allowed to question anyone who carries.
That is where we are at here in Texas. Because we are a bunch of fucking cowards families will continue to be destroyed. Texans don’t really care.
Unless it happens to their family.

This did not turn out as planned.
A recall petition of Texas City Mayor Dedrick D. Johnson has failed to obtain the necessary verified signatures. Unfortunately that may not be the end of the issue. According to a letter from the City the petition effort has been handed over to the Galveston County District Attorney. You can read the letter below.
As I said in a previous post: It seems like there is a pattern with some of these recall efforts, much like a playbook:
That’s what happened in Texas City. So now the focus is on those who submitted the petition. If the allegations of confirmed, these are very serious crimes and could land people with felonies and in jail.
