It’s Fucking Friday: Who invited Keith Ellison to our convention?

February 23, 2024

Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy…..but….

The Harris County Democratic Convention Committee decided to invite, and pay for his travel and appearance, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison to speak at our County convention in March. So why is this controversial? Well, glad you fuckin asked.

Ellison is the only elected official to endorse Pervez Agwan, the Socialist candidate running against the Democrat Congresswoman, Lizzie Fletcher, in the Democratic Primary. Ellison joins a couple of unknown extreme far left organizations and the author of Lone Star Left in endorsing Agwan even after the Houston Landing reported on a sexual harassment suit against him. (It’s along, disturbing article)

This week Agwan’s supporters disrupted the Meyerland Democrats club meeting where Congresswoman Fletcher was to speak. Art Pronin, the long time President of the very prestigious club, wrote an op-ed in the Houston Chronicle detailing the incident. It is worth a read. If you aren’t going to take the time to read it at least read this:

I was told — and yes, I’m Jewish — that I am “owned by AIPAC” (American Israel Public Affairs). One of our members was asked if she were a Jew. Law enforcement hauled out protestors one by one as they disrupted. Each time I resumed the meeting, another wave would pop up, running around with their phones, filming what they were doing to us.

Once all were escorted out, they began pounding at the entrance doors.

For 30 minutes, they pounded and screamed. I thought the glass panels would break.

This is the group Ellison is going to come and pacify. At a time when cool heads need to prevail concerning the powder keg in Israel, and when the party has to be united to defeat the white supremacist Donald Trump, HCDP invites a divisive extreme far lefty from outside the State, the County, the City to further divide us. We have plenty of elected officials right here in Houston that could bring unity to the party including Hidalgo, Menefee, Hollins and others. Yes, we all agree:

  • Hamas is a terrorist organization
  • Israel has a right to defend itself against Hamas but NOT the Palestinians
  • A two State solution is the only solution to end the continued violence
  • Netanyahu eventually has to go for peace to actually be achieve

We can all agree on those points, but causing a disruption at the Club/County/State/Federal Convention is NOT the way to move forward. Fucking progressives think that all you need to do is yell and scream and let everyone else do the heavy lifting. You are suppose to make fuckin progress! In response to this obvious stupidity the Committee Chair, Sarah Syed, admitted to the Chair of the Party:

The CD Chairs met last night again and we had a conversation with a 100% vote to continue with Keith Ellison as the keynote speaker for the convention with the intention that we would have increased security and an emergency plan.

The Committee did this purposely. It reminds me of 2016. How in the fuck did that turn out for you? For us?

Who funded Keller ISD Candidates, Young, Walker, Shaw?

February 23, 2024

Patriot Mobile PAC.

Parents are pretty mad about KISD Trustee Walker and Young invited a foreign, evangelical, film crew into a public high school and filming their children without their consent. So who helped put these candidates into office and how much did they donate? Patriot Mobile. A lot.

Patriot Mobile PAC was created in January 2022 and funded mainly by Patriot Mobile LLC, a cell phone company. Since then they have raised $1,341,515. Of this total, 98%, came from two donors. $1,200,000 came from Patriot Mobile LLC and $120,000 came from Bryan Bradford, an investor in Austin, Texas. Patriot Mobile’s share is 90%.

Since January 2022 Patriot Mobile PAC spent $985,385. Of that $392,000 was spent on candidates in school district races and MUDs. Each KISD candidate Walker, Young and Shaw received $45,321 for their campaigns. As I said, this is A LOT for a school race that usually costs a couple of thousand dollars. All three were elected.

If you look at their personal campaign finance reports they each raised just a few thousand dollars but let Patriot Mobile PAC spend $45,321 on each of their campaigns hidden in campaign finance reports on the Texas Ethics Commission website. They never denounced their participation. They never denounced an LLC meddling in local school boards. They gladly accepted it. They took their money and have done their bidding.

And now two years later one has resigned (Walker) and one should (Young)

Keller ISD parents to voice their concerns at upcoming board meeting

February 22, 2024

This is the first board meeting to be held after the film crew controversy at a Keller ISD high school west of Fort Worth.

Parents of Keller ISD have an opportunity to demand accountability at the upcoming school board meeting to be held Feb 29, 2024 at 5 PM. Details can be found here. The meeting will also be online. Hopefully parents will give the board an earful after two of their members were involved with a foreign Christian right film crew who was escorted into a high school. The film crew was part of a group that published a documentary titled “God, Jesus, Trump.”.

One of the members quickly resigned while the other, Micah Young, is hanging on claiming he “I briefly assisted my colleague in an interview about Texas public schools.” That is truly a bunch of horse shit. That “colleague” has resigned. The film crew claims they will air the segment with the kids faces obscured.

That’s not enough. Heads need to roll. Young should be removed. Parents should file a grievance against Young, file a suit against the film crew and the former board member. This is truly unacceptable. Who in their far right mind thinks this was acceptable at a school?

Hundreds call for Keller ISD Trustee to resign

February 21, 2024

Parents in Keller ISD are not happy.

Hundreds of parents are calling for the resignation of KISD Trustee Micah Young. Young was elected in 2022 and has been caught in a controversy at a KISD High School. According to CBS: KELLER – Parents and students feel their safety and security have been violated after an unauthorized evangelical film crew from the Netherlands entered and filmed at Central High School on Feb 9. without authorization from the school district.

A Trustee who escorted the film crew through the school has already resigned and hundred of parents have called for Young to resign also. He was present when the crew was filming. Young has posted a response to his Facebook page stating:

He has 386 comments and all seem to be calling for him to resign. Even the President of the Board has called for his resignation. Young should resign and if he doesn’t someone needs to file a grievance against him. Parents should also file against the film crew. Here is just a sample of the responses.

School Board Trustee resigns. (and for good reasons)

February 20, 2024

Relax. It’s not CCISD.

But it is a warning to all school districts. Keller Independent School District Trustee Sandi Walker resigned after serving just under two years. KISD is located just west of Fort Worth. What happened at an elementary school in KISD could happen elsewhere if the parents in the situation do not take strong, decisive action. BTW CCISD School Board and parents are more concerned about educating our kids than getting involved in this kind of crap.

So what happened? Sandi Walker invited a foreign film crew into an elementary school to film kids without the parents permission. From NBC:

After researching, Laney Hawes discovered the crew was with EO, a Dutch evangelical television network that has produced prior documentaries on US politics, one titled God Jesus, Trump!

Teachers who are keeping their job told NBCDFW they concerned about the safety protocols that these board members may have breached.

“We’re waiting for the second trustee who was involved to resign,” Hawes said. “And we really are trying to get to the bottom of whether or not the other trustees are involved.”

Not only was this a HUGE breach in security, and illegal filming of children without parents permission, it was for religious purposes. Parents have rightfully called for the resignation of all who were involved. Walker is the first to resign. More should be coming. The parents need to demand to know who gave the crew badges, who at the school had prior knowledge of the event, and who on the Board was responsible. They all should resign. Every single one of them.

And the film crew should be sued.

League City SausageFest continues

February 19, 2024

The voters have spoken.

Well after spending record amounts to win a few thousand votes League City Council will remain an all white, all male, council to represent the diversity of the city. Voters had a chance to elect a conservative female but chose a republican, white, male instead.

Courtney Chadwell won by a 2-1 margin and will join his buddies Nick Long and Justin Hicks. Expect to see more movement to privatize library services and possibly other services. The sky is the limit. Unlike Long, Hicks did not contribute to Chadwell’s campaign, probably for very good reasons. Long, who is not running for reelection at this time, spent over $13,000, some, if not all, was in support of Chadwell.

Broke ass Hicks resorted to free posting on Facebook claiming Chadwell is the only “conservative” in the race. If Chadwell follows Hicks then he isn’t a conservative. Conservatives don’t ban books. Conservatives don’t lie, cheat, or steal. Conservatives don’t commit adultery. Conservatives aren’t freeloaders, they pay their bills. Conservatives don’t believe in creating a “Nanny State” with unnecessary bureaucracy, rules, and regulation. Republicans do.

To the real conservatives on the Council stand your ground and hold on to the true values that conservatives across the Bay Area adhere to. Who knows? Maybe Chadwell will surprise the living shit out of everyone and join you!

Bill to protect fans at the next Astros victory parade failed

February 19, 2024

You think it can’t happen here? Think. Again.

In the 2023 Texas Legislation session House Bill 179 was filed by Representative Goodwin. It would ban all firearms at protests, public gatherings, parades, and other events. It was filed, sent to the “Community Safety” Committee and died. There was no hearings, public testimony, discussion. Nothing. Zero. Zip. It just fucking died. So guns are allowed at the next Astros victory parade.

The law to be modified currently makes it a crime to expose yourself, shout profanities, make offensive gestures, create an obnoxious odor, make threats, makes unreasonable noise, fights with another, discharges a firearm, or display your anus. The bill added “displays a firearm while attending or within 500 feet of a public demonstration.” In Houston you cannot carry an American flag on a pole and would be asked to leave the area, but you can take that same flag and put it on a loaded AR-15 and the police can’t do a gaddamn thing about it.

If this had passed you would be subject to being shot by the police if you open carry an assault weapon at an Astros victory parade or at a 4th of July Parade. If you are carrying a firearm in public, then you are a danger to the public.

By the way, Friendswood allows open carry of assault weapons at their parade and park during the 4th of July weekend. Have fun!

After the Lakewood shooting Greg Abbott offers guns to Christians

February 18, 2024

Praise the Lord!

According to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s press secretary, Abbott has offered armed guards to provide security to the over 50,000 Christian places of worship in Texas. From his press release:

“It is clear the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun and we have plenty of money and resources to provide the much needed security to all places of worship.”

Abbott intends to use money from the $25 Billion Rainy Day Fund. The cost of providing security at Christian churches would vary depending upon the number of services offered. When asked if resources would be provided to Jews, Muslims, or any other religious services Abbott spun around and rolled off.

Make you wonder: What Would Jesus Do? Welcome to Satire Sunday and pass the ammunition.

Raising Campaign Cash: Jimmy Fullen February Report

February 18, 2024

This is interesting.

In his February report Fullen reported raising $32,000 in unitemized donations. That in itself is, at first, disturbing but it looks like only a clerical error. He raised $47,115 in itemized donations, $10,000 coming from Mayor Nick Long and $10,000 coming from Tony Buzbee the guy who got trampled in the race for Houston Mayor and City Council.

Fullen reported another personal loan of $32,000 (are reported it as unitemized donations). His $100,000 personal loan that was reported in his Jan report is no longer listed or having been paid off. As I mentioned the Ethics Commission frowns on padding your campaign account with fake donations or loans. We will see what happens in the near future. If you are going to be enforcing the law you should be required to follow the law. And if you are going to be responsible for a city’s financial well being you should be responsible for your own financial well being. But I digress.

His biggest donors are listed below. Of the $47,000 raised, $37,000 came from 4 individuals. $32,000 is from out of the county. His report can be reviewed here.

CCISD Elections are set. 2 Seats unopposed.

February 17, 2024

Congrats to CCISD Board Members Jay Cunningham and Jonathan Cottrell! They are not opposed in the upcoming election. Welcome back.

Jeff Larson for District 4 drew an opponent, Albert Wittliff. He seems to be an interesting candidate. He was a former Special Agent at Department of Homeland Security. He doesn’t have a campaign page set up yet. Larson is running for reelection and has served on the Board for 3 years. I was not thrilled that Larson followed Scott Bowen’s lead on various issues. He even voted for Bowen for President, VP, and Secretary. Bowen lost all three votes. But, as I have said in the past, I have been told the Board is performing well and that is good for us, our teachers, and our kids.

It is great to see Jay and Jonathan returning. More information about the race in District 4 will be posted.

League City Personal Finance Statements are due

February 16, 2024

This might be interesting.

I have looked at hundreds of campaign finance reports but I have never reviewed a Personal Finance Statement (PFS). Last year the Republican controlled Legislature passed a bill requiring all elected officials in cities with a population of over 100,000 to file a PFS. This caused a member of the League City Council, John Bowen, to resign. A special election for his replacement is ongoing. For everyone else, including candidates, their reports are due and will be controlled by the City Secretary.

If you are interested in what an official has to disclose you can review the guidance for disclosure at the Texas Municipal League’s website. In short:

If you are interested, the PFS form can be found on the Texas Ethics Commission website. Here is a sample. Happy hunting!

It’s F***ing Friday: Another shooting. Had enough yet?

February 16, 2024

When will we demand action?

What will it take before we demand action on gun control from our elected officials? What will it take? Who has to die before we get up off our ass and do something? Will it take a mass shooting at a school killing twenty one 1st graders? Or nineteen 9 year olds? Or 8 high school students right here in the Bay Area? When will all you fuckin so called “Christians” put your goddamn bible down, the one you never read, and finally demand action after 26 christians were killed while praying in church? Maybe Joel Osteen might have something to say about it.

It is clear as fucking glass Greg Abbott isn’t going to get off his ass and do something about gun violence. Neither is Ted Cruz, or our own State Representative Dennis Paul. They think it is fun to pose with guns, or fry bacon on an assault rifle, or walk around like a dork with an NRA hat. It’s a game to them. It is funny and people, children, christians, police, service men, dancers, teachers, and others are dying. Real fucking funny.

So it is up to us and so far we have failed. You would have thought the voters in Uvalde would have voted Abbott off the island after the shooting at Ross Elementary. They didn’t, and they are not alone. Voters in Texas returned the very person responsible for gun violence, they guy who bragged about making Texas a sanctuary state for guns, back to office so he could continue sitting on his ass and do nothing while children and police are slaughtered.

The only thing Texans are good at is making fucking [fill in the blank] Strong t-shirts. What’s it going to take before we do something? Dennis Paul can be reached at (281) 488-8900.

Why are you running? Oscar Salazar Jr for Justice of the Peace

February 15, 2024

This is disappointing.

Oscar Salazar Jr is running for Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Place 1 (Scarsdale area) against the incumbent Justice Jo Ann Delgado in the Democratic primary but Salazar isn’t a Democrat. Salazar is the owner of Morning Kolaches. If you want great Kolaches that is the place to be. According to the Houston Chronicle, who has endorsed Judge Delgado, there is no requirement to be a lawyer to run for a Justice of the Peace:

Challenger Oscar Salazar, Jr. is a Marine veteran who owns a chain of kolache shops. He doesn’t have a law degree, but JPs aren’t required to have one. Delgado isn’t a lawyer either, but she came to the bench after working as a clerk in the courts for 23 years, including ten years as a chief clerk for JP Richard Vera in the 1980s.

Salazar hasn’t voted in a Democratic primary. He voted in the Republican primary in 2016 and I can only guess who he voted for. That should disqualify Salazar but our primaries are open and anyone including a trumper can file.

And one did. Delgado has been doing a great job. Vote for Delgado if you are in that precinct.

Disturbing endorsements in the Harris County DA’s race

February 15, 2024

The Houston Chronicle listed the endorsements of the two leading candidates in the Harris County District Attorneys race.

It’s the who’s who of who’s who and the who’s who of who’s that? Some of these endorsements can be disturbing to some, for instance DA Ogg is endorsed by the C Club. The C stands for Conservative or Confusing. They are proud of their support by Michael “Hit and Run” Berry the local white wing, loud mouth, talk show host who was caught in a gay bar, on camera. The Texas Observer has a great article on what happened:

According to the bouncer at T.C.’s Show Bar in Montrose, Michael Berry left the club, where he was attending as a patron, at 11:00 PM on January 31. The bouncer, Tuderia Bennett, said Berry drove in reverse for 70 feet, hit Bennett’s car, and drove away.

But I digress…..If the C Club is actually a fiscal conservative club then they have endorsed some pretty good candidates such as Mayor Whitmire. If the C is for Confusing then they are spot on in their support of Council Member Willie Davis who was the least qualified to run for City Council. The Chronicle lists the C Club as endorsing Kim Ogg. I’m not sure how to address this.

Ogg’s other endorsements include the Who’s Who of law enforcement including members of the Houston Police Union who have recently endorsed some pretty good candidates. She has the endorsement of Mayor Annie Parker, and others including:

Ogg has collected several endorsements from members of the law enforcement community, including Harris County Afro-American Sheriff’s Deputies League, Houston Police Officers’ Union Executive Director Ray Hunt, HPOU President Doug Griffith, Pct. 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton, Pct. 2 Constable Jerry Garcia, former Harris County Sheriff’s Office Captain Frank Stilley, former HCSO Major Greg Summerlin and former Houston Police Department Chief C.O. “Brad” Bradford.

Sean Teare, on the other hand, has the endorsement of the Who’s Who of Who’s That? The list includes various Democratic clubs and little known organizations. Texas Organizing Project, an organization that provides great ground work for candidates, has endorsed Teare but lately they have endorsed extreme left candidates and has been financed by known socialists. I don’t think Teare is an extreme anything. He is well qualified for the job. He has great experience. From the Chronicle:

He’s also been endorsed by Area 5 Democrats, NAKASEC Action Fund Texas, the Women’s Association of Lawyers, Houston Black American Democrats, the Working Families Party and Harris County Tejano Dems.

Working Families Party is a far left, socialist group. Like the C Club I wouldn’t put too much into their endorsement. I had to google NAKASEC. Teare is also endorsed by a number of elected officials including Judge Hidalgo, Commissioner Rodney Ellis, State Representative Gene Wu.

For the record I have been pretty clear about who I would support. DA Ogg has been in office for 7 years. She seems to have an ongoing feud with Judge Hidalgo. She has every right and duty to investigate the situation with the COVID contract but it’s the way she has handled the situation. It’s divisive. It’s troubling. The cooperation between the DAs office and Commissioners Court has to get better.

Bu then again maybe I just need to chill out with a cold Bud Light and Michael Berry.

Raising Campaign Cash: Dan Simons for Harris County DA

February 13, 2024

You’re probably asking yourself “Who the fuck is Dan Simons”?

Dan is the Republican nominee for Harris County District Attorney. He is an attorney and a man of the people posing with his convertible Porsche on his website. According to his website he specializes in DWI cases. He ran for judge in 2018 and lost. He ran for judge in 2022, lost, then filed suit. That suit was dismissed.

While the Democratic candidates competing in the primary have raised millions in donations, Simons has raised $15,000 of which $15,000 came from his own pocket. I’m wondering if even Mattress MAGAt Mac would come to his rescue in the general election.

He won’t.

Who helped the Lakewood Church shooter?

February 13, 2024

I’ll give you one guess.

After the Uvalde shooting that took the lives of 19 children I met State Representative Dennis Paul on the greenbelt while walking our dogs. I began my conversation with “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU DENNIS?”. Needless to say the conversation went downhill from that point forward. Dennis Paul and his cowardly republican buddies gave that shooter easy access to a firearm and he used it shattering the lives of many families and the Uvalde community.

Paul doesn’t care who has easy access to firearms no matter who gets killed. According multiple reports this senseless shooting that took the life of a 7 year old child might have been prevented. The shooter had a history of mental problems, was going through a tough divorce process including custody issues. She has a history of criminal activity which ended in surrendering of some firearms. Yet because of easy access to firearms she was able to buy an AR15. Luckily a couple of off duty law enforcement officers shot and killer her, as well as her son.

Maybe some kind of red flag law would have prevented this shooting. Maybe some kind of change in our gun nut culture could have prevented this shooting but don’t look to Paul to make that happen. Last year Paul was all weepy about a young women, a member of the Executive Committee of the Texas Republican Party, who was shot and killed by her husband. He also killed himself leaving three young children without parents. She too was going through an ugly divorce. Paul offered thoughts and prayers.

This latest shooting and future shootings could be prevented if Paul and his fucked up buddies would get off their goddamn knees and do something. So as I asked before WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU DENNIS?

Ted Cruz calls for thoughts and prayers after church shooting

February 12, 2024

Well, how are those thoughts and prayers doing fer ya?

This shooting could have been so much worse. The shooter picked the wrong place in the church to open fire and was killed by two off duty policemen. The child she brought with her is in critical condition possibly also shot by the police. As we have said over and over again, thoughts and prayers will not stop people from killing people then they have easy access to firearms and with the gun culture we have in the United States.

Cruz has contributed to that fucked up culture. He thinks it is funny, cute, to cook bacon on the barrel of an assualt style weapon and post it on YouTube. He thinks it is cute to dress up like Fidel Castro and take photo ops at the border claiming there is an invasion of immigrants and yet doing nothing about it. Last night someone tried to do something about it and all that sick fuck Cruz could do was say he and his ugly ass wife was praying for those affected.

Fuck you Ted. You are partially responsible for this shooting as you were for Uvalde, Santa Fe, Fort Hood, Sutherland Church, El Paso Walmart, Midland-Odessa and Allen mall shooting. You have made us unsafe at schools, churches, parades, rallies, football games, and every public event.

Do us a favor and shut your fucking mouth.

Raising Campaign Cash: Jimmy Fullen

February 10, 2024

I became interested in the race for Sheriff after reading Costa Loca’s Facebook page about Fullen’s interesting career.

In his January 2023 campaign finance report Fullen raised $200,905, spent $81,337, has $204,713 Cash On Hand. He received $27,000 in in-kind donations. He also has a $100,000 personal loan making up 50% of his total fundraising.

At first look he has a strong report even without the padding of a personal loan but in this January report Galveston County Commissioners Joe Giusri and Darrell Apffel gave $25,000 each to Fullen making up half of his individuals donations. Unlike League City Nick Long, most of Fullen’s donations came from within the county. Nick Long donated $1533 for mailers, something he probably didn’t report on his own campaign finance report.

In his July 2023 report he raised $115,550, spent $142,764 and had $59,142 Cash on Hand. The math doesn’t add up and his $100,000 personal loan is no longer listed and his campaign does not show the loan being repaid. One thing you can’t do is artificially pad your campaign finance report by reporting a $100,000 loan that you never made then magically take it off. The Ethics Commission really frowns on this. Not only is it extremely dishonest it is against the Ethics rules.

Maybe there is a simple explanation. You can find Galveston County campaign reports here. Fullen’s Jan and July reports are here and here.

It’s F***ing Friday: No one likes a kiss ass.

February 9, 2024

Except for republicans.

Apple-polisher, ass-kisser, back scratcher, backslapper, bootlicker, brown-nose, fawner, flatterer, flunky, kowtower, lackey, minion, teacher’s pet, yes-person, Ted Cruz.

It truly is embarrassing watching republicans kiss Donald Trump’s fat ass. I’m talking about elected officials as well as those who support the elected officials. The latest display of passionate boot licking was from Senator Tim Scott who endorsed Trump after the New Hampshire primary. If you listen closely you can hear someone in the audience yell “Suck his dick why don’t you!”.

Actually that didn’t happen but damn if I was there I would have yelled it. No one likes a kiss ass except for Republicans. Sweet Holy Moses!!!! They enjoy brown nosing just like Ted Cruz bowing to Donald Trump after Trump called his wife an ugly bitch. If Trump had said that to a Mexican American he would have had his ass kicked, not licked. Ted Cruz made it cool to be a kiss ass and wow Republicans are a really cool party!

Trump needs more ass kissers like Greg Abbott. He is the right height for the job. Everyone else, do your self a favor and buy a pair of knee pads.

More on the “Harris County Democratic Endorsed” candidates

February 8, 2024

Is there a connection to the PAC Fort Bend United?

Back in 2022 a PAC created in 2019 created and mailed an “Election Guide”. It did NOT come from the Harris County Democratic Party. This election the Community Justice PAC is promoting a “Harris County Democratic Endorsed Candidates” slate for the Democratic primary election. As with FBU the endorsement includes some interesting selections but is NOT from the HCDP.

As mentioned in my last post HCDE is funded by two individuals/entities from the Pusch & Nguyen law firm. Over the last few years Pusch & Nguyen have contributed to various candidates and organizations including $60,000 to the Harris County Democratic Party. See below.

Since 2019 Anthony Pusch has donated a total of $47,440 to various candidates including $9,440 to Fort Bend United in 2022 and 2023. In the next few weeks we will see if HCDE sends out any mailers.
