Mexican MAGAts take over Univision

November 18, 2023

Republicans aren’t stupid but they think we are. (and some are)

John Leguizamo, Latino actor has called for a boycott of Univision after they have turned Mexican MAGAt. According to Leguizamo the station is becoming a Fox News for Mexicans cozying up to Trump and cancelling ads placed by President Biden.

I’ve written about Mexican MAGAts before in WTF is wrong with you? Latinos for Trump. I’ve wondered why any Latino, or Veteran, or Texan, or any human being would support trump at this point:

He is a big, giant, dick, a rotten excuse of a human being. He bashes immigrants to the point they are targeted by white wing extremists of the Republican Party. He makes fun of the language. He uses Latino voters as props, as ignorant pawns. He is a fucked up human being. He is disrespectful of everyone, the media, elected officials, foreign officials, and anyone he has a grievance with. He is a fucking liar, not just a liar, a fucking liar. He has fed the Latino community a mouthful of lies and some of you are too stupid to realize he is a fucking liar. He stole top secret military documents. He was impeached, twice. He has been indicted for felonies, twice, with more coming. He is a racist and is supported by racist organizations.

https://bayareahouston.net/2023/07/14/wtf-is-wrong-with-you-latinos-for-trump/

So Univision, jumping in on the freak show to make money, has started, with its softball interview of Trump, feeding Latinos carne guisada with a free glass of koolaid . The interviewer cozied up to trump feeding him softball questions and giving him everything he wanted except a blow job. It was disgusting and many have called them out for it.

At least one reporter has left Univision and more than 70 groups — including major Latino rights organizations UnidosUS Action, America’s Voice and MALDEF — sent a letter Friday night to Davis and two other Televisa Univision executives who attended the meeting with Trump that described the interview as “a betrayal of trust.”

“We demand Univision conduct a thorough internal review, take corrective measures, and reaffirm its commitment to unbiased reporting and to keeping the Latino community informed and up-to-date with facts and truth,” the letter reads. “Unfiltered, unaddressed and unrestricted disinformation does a disservice to all communities in the U.S. and will destroy Univision’s reputation as a credible network that informs an important electorate.”

Good on Leguizamo for speaking out. Trump and the republican parties so called “values” are not the values of Latinos. We are not a bunch of rotten assholes.

Signs of Qanon in Clear Lake. #SaveTheChildren

November 17, 2023

They are recruiting.

You might have seen signs on the side of the road with the hashtag #SaveTheChildren. Unfortunately the Qanon movement, an insane conspiracy theory organization, has hijacked the phrase. According to CNN:

You might see people sharing the hashtag #SavetheChildren on social media. But much of this online activity has nothing to do with the respected and real Save the Children charity. Its name has been hijacked by followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory.

QAnon has hijacked the name of a real organization trying to save children

This Qanon group was preceded by Pizzagate, a conspiracy theory about a Pizza place in DC was a front for a pedophile organization connected to the Democratic Party. An individual, based upon this misinformation, entered the restaurant and fired 3 shots from an assault rifle. He spent 4 years in jail for his stunt.

Save The Children is actually an organization that help children in need especially in the war torn areas of the world. They have issued a statement concerning the Qanon movement:

Our name in hashtag form has been experiencing unusually high volumes and causing confusion among our supporters and the general public. In the United States, Save the Children is the sole owner of the registered trademark “Save the Children.” While people may choose to use our organization’s name as a hashtag to make their point on different issues, we are not affiliated or associated with any of these campaigns.

Steer clear of any organization abusing the hashtag. Stay away from Qanon. They are truly a sick group of people.

CliffsNotes: George Santos Ethics Committee Report

November 16, 2023

I took another for the team and read the 55 page report. You can read the entire thing here. It’s detailed. It’s boring. Here are the findings:

  • The committee gave Santos ample opportunity to address the issues, provide documentation, and testify to the committee. He refused all while claiming he was fully cooperating with the committee.
  • His staff wrote a 141 page Vulnerability report and encouraged him to drop out of the race. His staff members quit.
  • His staff encouraged him to seek medical attention for his constant lying.
  • His staff member responsible for the FEC filings admitted to conspiring with Representative Santos to submit false reports to the FEC.
  • Santos listed multiple personal loans, over $80,000, and $500,000 to his campaign that were never actually made.
  • Representative Santos was also improperly repaid for loans that were not made ($31,000)
  • These fictions loans falsely raised his Cash on Hand and could not pay outstanding debts. One staffer was not paid for 8 months.
  • Ms. Marks pled guilty and testified under oath to conspiring with Representative Santos to falsely report loans
  • He made $6,000 worth of purchases at Ferragamo stores, withdraw $800 in cash from an ATM at a casino, withdraw $1,000 in cash from an ATM near Representative Santos’ apartment, and to pay Representative Santos’ rent.
  • filed a list of false donors with the FEC on the year-end 2021 report knowing it was not true, and the donors, who are the real people, didn’t give [her] permission to use their names.
  • This was done to obtain money for his campaign by artificially inflating his funds to meet thresholds set by a national political committee
  • He spent thousands of dollars on personal expenses such as $2,281.52 spent at resorts in Atlantic City, $1,400 at Virtual Skin Spa, $225 at CityMD, and $3,332.81 Airbnb expenditure, $5000 for personal credit cards
  • He used his campaign money, over $4000, for Botox treatments
  • The ISC determined that the systemic errors and omissions in Representative Santos’ campaign reporting were more than mere carelessness by his treasurer; rather, they were part of an overall scheme to avoid transparency about his campaign’s finances
  • $50,000 of contributors money was used to, among other things: pay down personal credit card bills and other debt; make a $4,127.80 purchase at Hermes; and for smaller purchases at OnlyFans; Sephora; and for meals and for parking.
  • He convinced donors to contribute large amounts to an advertising company claiming the donations would go towards his campaign. He used the donations for personal use.
  • Santos claimed that he hired a professional tax preparer to file his Financial Disclosure statements. The tax preparer said she didn’t file the reports and was not hired by Santos.
  • He lied on his FD claiming he made $400,000/year when he made only $55,000
  • Santos reported four assets: (i) an apartment valued between $500,001 and $1,000,000; (ii) a checking account with between $100,001 and $250,000; (iii) a savings account with between $1,000,001 and $5,000,000; and (iv) 100% ownership of Devolder Organization, valued between $1,000,001 and $5,000,000. Each of these disclosures was false.

I’m tired. He is a liar like trump but just more stupid.

Democratic Drama Continues with Resolution Against Kim Ogg

November 16, 2023

This is getting old. And petty.

I’ve been critical of Judge Hidalgo for looking petty in her continued confrontation with District Attorney Kim Ogg. Ogg also has a lot of blame to share. Hidalgo recently added fuel to the fire by endorsing Ogg’s opponent. She didn’t need to do that. Not now especially after yet another Houston Chronicle article about the Texas Ranger’s investigation into her office. It looks petty. It is petty. She is better than this. She should be better than this.

But now a small, vocal, group of precinct chairs of the Harris County Democratic Party have to have their turn to piss on the campfire calling for a vote on a resolution condemning Kim Ogg. Hey, I get it. Ogg has lost support from the far left, and the left, and the middle. Even I, a former supporter of Ogg, have soured on her performance, mainly because of her continued public dramatic display of animosity towards Judge Hidalgo, Commissioners Court, and judicial candidates. These issues and discussions should have been behind closed doors not on the front page of the Houston Chronicle.

Unfortunately the small group of precinct chairs have to be on the front page of the Houston Chronicle and the Chronicle is eating it up as well as the republican MAGAts looking to regain the DAs office. From the Chronicle:

A committee of local Democrats had an unusually rousing evening on Wednesday when over 50 people attended a meeting with two dueling resolutions on the agenda – one from a group of over 100 precinct chairs calling on the party to formally condemn District Attorney Kim Ogg, and another from 23 of her supporters urging party unity instead.

By the way….there are over 750 precinct chairs in Harris County. The Party needs to do one of two things, pacify the small group of precinct chairs, pass the resolution, and then shut the hell up. Or just shut the hell up. We all have more important things to do. I doubt Ogg will ever get the nomination for DA in the 2024 primary. She has been unnecessarily caustic. Let the voters decide in March and quit with the drama. You have made your point, in public, on the front page of the Chronicle, and dramatically.

Just let it lie.

Texas, Bored of Education, opposes depiction of climate change

November 16, 2023

LOL. Scott Bowen again.

The Texas State Board of Education including Julie Pickren, from Pearland, has a problem with the depiction of climate change and evolution in science books. Pickren’s claim to fame was being at the Jan 6 insurrection. As I said in a previous post:

Pickren is being funded mainly by two Republican Oligarchs, State Representative Money Mayes Middleton and failed congressional candidate Kathaleen Wall. According to Pickren’s latest campaign finance report she raised $36,000 with $20,000 coming from Wall and $5000 from Money Mayes. Pickren also has some far right extremist PACs supporting her run for school board.

Pictured above is Captain Snowflake, Justin Hicks, League City Mayor Nick Long, CCISD Trustee Scott Bowen, and Congressman Randy Weber. She is only endorsed by the best people. According to the Houston Chronicle:

The Republican-led State Board of Education preliminarily rejected several new science textbooks on Tuesday over their presentation of climate change and evolution, a sign the books may be watered down before a final vote later this week.

Publishers were allowed until Wednesday to make changes that address criticism from board members, such as altering the depiction of the oil and gas industry.

Pickren and her buddies are there to protect the oil and gas industry’s profit margins, even after posting record breaking profits. They also want creationist theories (ie the Bible) to be taught as an alternative to evolution and let the students decide which is more scientifically correct. Maybe they should consider teaching family values by Bryan Slaton.

Pickren since raised $115,000 for her race. $85,000 came from just 6 individuals including $40,000 from Richard Weekley, $20,000 from Kathaleen Wall, and $5000 from local Senator Money Mayes Middleton. Here are her top donors:

Houston’s KLOL rock star to challenge Brian Babin in Texas CD 36

November 15, 2023

She has a plan. She doesn’t want your money. She wants you to just vote.

Dayna Steele ran for congress back in 2018 in Congressional District 36. CD 36 is a blood red district. Literally. After 19 children were slaughtered in Uvalde Congressman Babin did what every other republican did. Nothing. He is one of the absolute worse congressman to ever hold the office even surpassing Steve Stockman who was convicted of 23 felony counts of money laundering and served 3 of 10 years in jail. On queue Trump pardoned him. Babin is worse. He does nothing. He has accomplished nothing. He, like trump, spews lies. And he asked for a pardon from Trump.

For those who were around in the 80’s you will remember Dayna from KLOL 101 the rock station of Houston. She rocked. I remember driving to work listening to Tejano Music on 101 FM. I called the station and was told KLOL was now a Tejano station. Ay Dios Mio!

Dayna has a plan. Watch her video below on Facebook. She explains it. Dayna is fun, exciting, very interesting and accomplished! He husband is a former NASA pilot. She ran back in 2018. As I said, it is a deep, deep, red district so gerrymandered that Babin doesn’t have to work to get elected. But, as I said, she has a plan. She is doing it her way this time.

More to come. It’s time to join her team, the Steele Workers.

Judge Lina Hidalgo endorses in DAs race. Why?

November 14, 2023

Why now?

Newsflash! Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo does not like Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg! I don’t know who is advising the Judge but she might want to consider a shake up in staff. This endorsement of Kim Ogg’s primary opponent, at this time, looks petty. It is appreciated, but it looks petty and in this day and age of politics looks, unfortunately, rules.

Why now? We are over 3 months away from the primary. Ogg and Hidalgo are coming off yet another round of fighting after the Texas Rangers continued their investigation of the failed COVID contract and with the Harris County Democratic Party moving to admonish Ogg. (Adding to the unnecessary drama) Endorsing Ogg’s opponent is ill timed. It doesn’t help anyone at this time. There is only one person who has entered the primary against Ogg at this time. What if another enters the race? Maybe one that Hidalgo would rather endorse?

If you have been paying attention, or reading the Houston Chronicle, there is a major disconnect between Hidalgo and Ogg. Both have attacked each other at Commissioners meetings, in public, and in print. The Chronicle is loving the infighting, so are the republican MAGAts. Throwing support to Ogg’s opponent at this time is really uncalled for. Why poke the bear? Why throw gas on the fire? Why now?

Ogg isn’t without blame. She has created a very bad look for the office. Many of her issues with Hidalgo, whether valid or not, could have been handled more discreetly, more professionally. Her role in the primary against well qualified attorneys was disturbing. Her reported use of her office against her opponents is also disturbing. It all looks petty.

And we all know looks rule.

CliffsNotes: 2022 Election Fraud Judgement

November 13, 2023

Bottom line? You lost. Get over it.

I took one for the team again and read the Final Judgement Denying Election Contest. This was concerning the lawsuit filed by 21 losers candidates for Harris County judicial positions in 2022. You can read the entire judgement here if interested. My notes are below.

  • Lawsuits were filed in 21 races
  • This was a “test” case between Tamika Craft and Erin Lunceford and resulted in dismissing the others
  • Lunceford lost by 2743 votes
  • The Judge concluded “For the reasons stated below, the court has found many mistakes and violations of the Election Code by the Harris County Elections Administration Office (“EAO”) and other election officials. But the court holds that not enough votes were put in doubt to justify voiding the election for the 189th District Court and ordering new one.”
  • After investigating mail in ballots, Statements of Residence, shortage of ballots, etc, the Judge determined 2779 were affected but did not result in overturning any election.
  • The Harris County Elections Administration Office (EAO) did not provide enough ballots for some voting locations. The Judge was highly critical of this error and said the estimation process was in violation of the law.
  • HE DID NOT ADDRESS the republican judges at the voting locations waiting till the last hour (literally) to ask for more ballots. The entire issue would have been averted if the EAO had estimated better and the judges had done their damn job.
  • Because of the lack of ballots the Judge found that 2600 voters left the polling location due to a shortage of ballots. The judge estimates that between 250-850 voters who left the polling location had failed to vote.
  • One election worked claims that a voter spit on her when the voter learned of the shortage. (I’m calling bullshit)
  • 966 Statement of Residence were illegal votes and should not have been counted
  • 36 Mail in ballots lacked a required signature and 9 were mailed in too late. (How did the Board who screen these ballots with a republican and democrat team miss this?)
  • 380 out of 532 challenged Reasonable Impediment Declaration (RID), meaning they had no valid photo ID, should not have been counted. (Again WTF? The election judges should have caught these)
  • 7 Ballot By Mail (BBM) should not have been counted due to signature problems
  • Evidence that 2000 votes by voters whose registration was cancelled was submitted but 1995 of these were cancelled AFTER the election. 5 votes should not have been counted.

In conclusion. You lost. Get over it.

Mattress Mac’s frivolous election fraud lawsuits dismissed!

November 10, 2023

Womp. Womp.

The multiple frivolous lawsuits filed by Harris County Republicans and MAGAt Mattress Mac claiming election fraud that led to Democratic wins have been dismissed. Here is what the Houston Chronicle said this morning:

However, after an eight-day trial in which Lunceford’s legal team did not provide testimony from any disenfranchised voters, Judge David Peeples, a visiting judge from Bexar County, ruled the results of the race were legitimate.

In a 36-page ruling, Peeples said he found Harris County had made “many mistakes and violations of the Election Code.” “But the court holds that not enough votes were put in doubt to justify voiding the election for the 189th District Court and ordering a new one,” Peeples concluded.

The lawsuits included Alexandra Mealer against Lina Hidalgo who dropped her suit a few weeks ago as did republican judicial candidates Dan Spjut, and Sartaj Bal. Only 1 of the multiple lawsuits are still pending that being the race between Republican Tami Pierce and Democrat DaSean Jones. That race was very close. DaSean is a self proclaimed “democratic socialist”. It might be better for him to lose and be back on the ballot in 2024.

But….the suits are over. The election deniers will appeal. They will continue being election deniers. They will still file frivolous lawsuits. Hopefully the plaintiffs will demand lawyer fees. All the judges who were sued had to pay their own legal fees. Lawyers were banned from providing free legal aid to the defendants. The Harris County Attorney was not allowed to represent them. So they had to raise money or pay for their fees from their own pockets. It was a brilliant and frivolous lawsuit by the Republican Party and they should be sanctioned.

You lost. Get over it.

More on “When right wing bloggers attack”

November 9, 2023

This is interesting…..and very disturbing.

From Harris County District Court

As reported by the Houston Chronicle, republican political blogger, Aubrey Taylor, was indicted for Injury to Elderly by a Harris County Grand Jury. After the indictment Taylor filed a civil suit against the victim, Gerald Womack claiming Womack actually attacked him. You can read the civil suit here. It is quite an interesting set of possible alternative facts. But there is more to this….

Jared Woodfill
In the civil suit he is represented by Jared Woodfill. According to the Houston Chronicle, in 2018 the FBI raided Woodfill’s office. I haven’t found any updates on that issue. Woodfill is also representing Steven Hotze charged with multiple felonies concerning a voter fraud conspiracy. He is representing multiple republican candidates claiming voter fraud in the 2020 elections. Both of them are closely associated with the Harris County Republican Party. Woodfill was the chair of the party from 2002-2014. Jared is also involved in an indictment of former State Judge Paul Pressler for sexual assault of a minor, his former bible study student. (You can read all the horrible details from The Texas Tribune here) and here is just a tidbit:

In recent sworn testimony, Woodfill said he’d known since 2004 of an allegation that Pressler had sexually abused a child. Woodfill learned of those claims, he said, during mediation of an assault lawsuit filed against Pressler that he helped quietly settle for nearly a half-million dollars at the time. Despite his knowledge of the accusation, Woodfill continued to work with Pressler for nearly a decade — leaning on Pressler’s name and reputation to bolster their firm, Woodfill & Pressler LLP.
Rather than pay him a salary, Woodfill testified, the firm provided Pressler a string of employees to serve as personal assistants, most of them young men who typically worked out of his River Oaks mansion. Two have accused Pressler of sexual assault or misconduct.

Texas Tribune

Oliver Brown
According to the Chronicle Oliver Brown is defending Taylor in the assault case. Brown, according to Laws in Texas, was indicted by a grand jury after being accused of trying to strangle his girlfriend. That case was eventually dismissed. LIT has more.

Aubrey Roshon Taylor
I don’t get it. He went to Womack’s place of work and an assault happened. Taylor claims in his civil suit that he was the victim even though charges were only filed against him not Womack. If I had been assaulted by a 66 year old I wouldn’t have left the scene. I would have dialed 911, waited for the police to show up, and cooperated. His civil suit just doesn’t make sense. He is asking for $100,000 in his suit.

According to the Harris County District Court this isn’t the first run in with the law for Taylor. (Link here) The last indictment was in 2005. He had a couple of other indictments in 1990 resulting in probation and jail time. I’m glad that up until this latest indictment Mr. Taylor has served his sentence and has become successful. Good for him.
