Raising Campaign Cash: Jimmy Fullen

February 10, 2024

I became interested in the race for Sheriff after reading Costa Loca’s Facebook page about Fullen’s interesting career.

In his January 2023 campaign finance report Fullen raised $200,905, spent $81,337, has $204,713 Cash On Hand. He received $27,000 in in-kind donations. He also has a $100,000 personal loan making up 50% of his total fundraising.

At first look he has a strong report even without the padding of a personal loan but in this January report Galveston County Commissioners Joe Giusri and Darrell Apffel gave $25,000 each to Fullen making up half of his individuals donations. Unlike League City Nick Long, most of Fullen’s donations came from within the county. Nick Long donated $1533 for mailers, something he probably didn’t report on his own campaign finance report.

In his July 2023 report he raised $115,550, spent $142,764 and had $59,142 Cash on Hand. The math doesn’t add up and his $100,000 personal loan is no longer listed and his campaign does not show the loan being repaid. One thing you can’t do is artificially pad your campaign finance report by reporting a $100,000 loan that you never made then magically take it off. The Ethics Commission really frowns on this. Not only is it extremely dishonest it is against the Ethics rules.

Maybe there is a simple explanation. You can find Galveston County campaign reports here. Fullen’s Jan and July reports are here and here.

It’s F***ing Friday: No one likes a kiss ass.

February 9, 2024

Except for republicans.

Apple-polisher, ass-kisser, back scratcher, backslapper, bootlicker, brown-nose, fawner, flatterer, flunky, kowtower, lackey, minion, teacher’s pet, yes-person, Ted Cruz.

It truly is embarrassing watching republicans kiss Donald Trump’s fat ass. I’m talking about elected officials as well as those who support the elected officials. The latest display of passionate boot licking was from Senator Tim Scott who endorsed Trump after the New Hampshire primary. If you listen closely you can hear someone in the audience yell “Suck his dick why don’t you!”.

Actually that didn’t happen but damn if I was there I would have yelled it. No one likes a kiss ass except for Republicans. Sweet Holy Moses!!!! They enjoy brown nosing just like Ted Cruz bowing to Donald Trump after Trump called his wife an ugly bitch. If Trump had said that to a Mexican American he would have had his ass kicked, not licked. Ted Cruz made it cool to be a kiss ass and wow Republicans are a really cool party!

Trump needs more ass kissers like Greg Abbott. He is the right height for the job. Everyone else, do your self a favor and buy a pair of knee pads.

More on the “Harris County Democratic Endorsed” candidates

February 8, 2024

Is there a connection to the PAC Fort Bend United?

Back in 2022 a PAC created in 2019 created and mailed an “Election Guide”. It did NOT come from the Harris County Democratic Party. This election the Community Justice PAC is promoting a “Harris County Democratic Endorsed Candidates” slate for the Democratic primary election. As with FBU the endorsement includes some interesting selections but is NOT from the HCDP.

As mentioned in my last post HCDE is funded by two individuals/entities from the Pusch & Nguyen law firm. Over the last few years Pusch & Nguyen have contributed to various candidates and organizations including $60,000 to the Harris County Democratic Party. See below.

Since 2019 Anthony Pusch has donated a total of $47,440 to various candidates including $9,440 to Fort Bend United in 2022 and 2023. In the next few weeks we will see if HCDE sends out any mailers.

Texas AG threatens legal action against Harris County Dept of Education Trustee

February 6, 2024

It’s Dick again.

Well, the  Bankruptcy & Collections Division of the Office of the Texas Attorney General has issued a demand letter from Harris County Dept of Education Trustee Eric Dick. Dick was fined $30,000 for his involvement in a mailer supporting his 2019 run for City Council. He also agreed to a $10,000 settlement for not reporting expenditures. The Texas Ethics Committee (TEC) referred Dick to the AG’s office in December of 2022. A year later the AG’s office took action.

According to the letter Dick had till early January to pay his debt to the State:

If payment is not received in ten (10) days from the date of this letter, or if arrangements are not made within that time to satisfy the debt, our office will consider filing suit to recover the full amount owed plus any attorney’s fees and court costs that can be recovered. This is the only letter you will receive from us relative to the unpaid fines so it should be considered a final demand.

You can read the entire letter here.

League City Mayor Pro Tem has social media meltdown

February 6, 2024

Captain Crybaby is having a fit on social media.

You would think the Mayor Pro Tem would be above the chaos of politics. Most are, but not Captain Chaos, Justin Hicks. He is having a bad day and something has his panties in a wad. It’s probably the upcoming election.

In order to move their agenda of closing or privatizing the League City Library Justin needs his buddy, Courtney Chadwell to win the upcoming special election. Chadwell is being financed by Mayor Nick Long from out of city donors and PACs and would be a yes vote for their christian, conservative, cleansing of League City. You can read about Long’s donations here. Unlike Long, Captain Contributions hasn’t raised any money in a few years. In fact besides a few thousand dollars from Austin, Hicks has raised holy hell and nothing else. More on that in a later post.

But back to Captain Crybaby’s social media posts. You can read them below. Chadwell’s opponent, Ange Mertens has spoken out about the Library situation in a very conservative manner. She makes a great point. The Library has had a review panel for decades yet the City has added yet another layer of big government oversight something real conservatives have historically opposed. Unlike Chadwell it’s clear Mertens will not only add a woman to the all male council but she will not bring the chaos Hicks thrives upon.

Here are his posts if you care to read them. It is so rich that Captain Chaos claims he leads the council in singing Kumbaya when he actually has caused the chaos of the council. This is so beneath the office of Mayor Pro Tem.

Who’s funding Nick Long, Mayor of League City?

February 5, 2024

You will be surprised. I was.

I wrote about Nick Long’s contributions and his spending in support of Courtney Chadwell running for City Council. I noticed that he raised $28,450 during a period that he was not running for reelection. Of that total only $300 came from a donor in League City. So I decided to look a bit further.

Ever since 2021 Nick Long has raised a total of $45,625. He also has a $31,103 personal loan. His largest haul for a period was in his last report of $28,450. Of his entire total of $45,625 since 2021 only $1405 came from League City residents. Only about 3% of his entire campaign donations came from the very people he is suppose to be representing. Most of his donations came from Houston donors and PACs including a few from out of state.

If you want to peruse his reports you can find them here. Check my math.

After meeting with a white supremacist, billionaires create a new PAC

February 5, 2024

Busted. Again.

After The Texas Tribune exposed the white wing PAC, Defend Texas Liberty, of having a day long meeting with a known white supremacist, Nick Fuentes (go ahead, look him up), the billionaires who created the fund have created a new PAC, Texans United for a Conservative Majority.

I wrote a few days ago about the funding and expenditures from DTL was drying up. Well that’s because it’s hard to do business, even in the Republican Party, after being associated with a Hitler lover and other white supremacist organizations. So they just created a new one. As with DTL, Texans United for a Conservative Majority raised about $2 Million from two donors, Timothy Dunn and Farris Wilks. These are the same guys who created and funded DTL.

DLT Lead and Bryan Slaton

They have spent almost $700,000 in support of extreme white wing candidates challenging those who voted to impeach Ken Paxton or who are against school vouchers including Brent Money who was running for the special election to replace Bryan Slaton. Slaton was expelled the House after providing alcohol to an underaged intern and porking her all night. Slaton was funded by the two billionaires. They also funded Money who lost even after donating $85,000.

Here is who these white wingers are donating to:

David Covey$100,000Dade Phelan

Who’s funding the Harris County Democratic Endorsed?

February 5, 2024

NOTE: The Harris County Democratic Party (HCDP) does NOT endorse in the primary. This group is NOT associated with the HCDP in any way.

The Harris County Democratic Endorsed (HCDE) is sending out endorsements in the upcoming Democratic primary. So far I have received an unsolicited text referencing their Instagram account and their website. Their logo is very similar to HCDP’s as is their website which is hosted on WordPress. (rookies) Their endorsement is paid for by Community Justice PAC a PAC created late last year. So who is spending money on this deceiving endorsement? Glad you asked.

The Community Justice PAC has only one report filed. They raised $50,000 from two individuals/entities, spent over $13,000, and has over $36,000 COH. Joshua Lee donated $25,000 and the law firm Push & Nguyen donated $25,000. The treasurer, Jarvis Calhoun, lists Lee as an attorney with Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP. You can read the entire report here. Of the $13,000 $7626 was paid to Christian Alexander with a PO Box for JC National for consulting expense and $5000 to John Humphries with a PO Box for Loud Inc for a reimbursement for the the JRR Dinner. Jarvis Calhoun has an address associated with Loud Inc.

What is interesting about this “endorsement” is their endorsement of Judge Mike Engelhart’s opponent. His opponent, although well qualified, makes one wonder “Why are you running?”. Seriously. Judge Engelhart is a very well respected Democratic Judge. The HCDE has endorsed other candidates like Judge Kyle Carter, Robert K. Schaffer, and R.K. Sandill, all great Judges then they endorse Engelhart’s opponent?

It seems, on the surface, this deceiving endorsement is targeting Judge Engelhart. I have reached out to the treasurer to discuss but he has refused. They have $36,000 COH and early voting starts in a week or so.

BTW. People who send out unsolicited texts can be held accountable for $1500 for each text. Anyone interested in pursuing this?

Hiding Campaign Donations: League City Mayor Nick Long

February 3, 2024

At first there is nothing unusual about Nick Long’s latest campaign finance report.

But…there are a couple of issues with his contributions and donations. In the last reporting period ending Dec 31, 2023 Long raised $28,450 of which $300 came from one donor in League City. All the rest came from PACs outside of the city as well as one donation from Kansas. It makes one wonder “Who’s your daddy?”. Who are you representing?

He has spent $13,817 over a 6 month period. Long is not on the ballot. He isn’t running for reelection yet he spent nearly half of his donations on “consulting expense” and “advertising expense” including $2432.10 to Spectrum Marketing Companies under “Advertising Expense”. What Long failed to note was that this expenditure was to support his buddy Courtney Chadwell who is running for City Council. Chadwell reported this expenditure on his report. It was the only donation he received.

One thing is for sure. The Texas Ethics Commission can fine the living hell out of individuals for hiding their contributions to candidates or misrepresenting their expenditures. Case in point, Eric Dick. The TEC had the authority to fine Dick over $400,000 for his mailers he did not report. They eventually fined him $30,000.

You have to wonder what Long is spending his out of city donor’s money on. I would bet he is funding Chadwell’s campaign. At least he isn’t taking money from Defend Texas Liberty.

It’s F***ing Friday: Stop whining

February 2, 2024

Welcome to Fucking Friday. It’s like “What Grinds My Gears” only worse.

Elections are just 10 months away and MSNBC is already giving air to all of the whiny little voters saying they aren’t going to vote because “No one is reaching out to them”, or “He isn’t doing enough on [name your issue], or “No one is kissing my ass”. It is getting old. It is time to grow the fuck up.

The adult comment when considering who to vote for is “I will vote for the individual who I have an opportunity to sway, to move my issue forward. He/She will never be perfect but I have to chose the one that I have a chance with”. And that is not fucking trump.

Just remember when your feelings are hurt, your panties are in a wad, you’re crossing your arms across your chest, and you refuse to vote, you risk electing someone that will not only screw you and your family but everyone else in the United States.

Many of you did exactly that in 2016. How did that work out for you, your family, women, immigrants, the Gay community, teachers, police, Muslims, Jews, non-Christians, victims of gun violence, and others? As a Mexican American you helped put a target on my back because of the hate speech ushered in by Trump. How in the fuck did acting like a fucking child help move your damn issue forward. Because of that vote in 2016 the United States Supreme Court has screwed us all for the next 30-40 years. Decades!

So this time, do us a favor. Grow up. Vote for someone that you have an opportunity to have a reasonable discussion with to move your particular concern forward. Voice your concern, be passionate about your issue, but when it comes time to do the right thing, do it.

Just fucking do it.
