$1,114,635 to be exact with 88% coming from out of the district extremist PACs and only 5% coming from inside the district donations. This is an insane amount of PAC money.
As I said in the past former CCISD Trustee Scott Bowen is the new PACMAN of Texas politics. Since running for State Representative after being voted off the CCISD Board by a huge margin, Bowen has raised $1,114,635 mostly from extremist PACs. Only 5% of all his donations have come from within the district. In his last reporting period alone he raise $422,323 with $410,014 coming from PACs and only $12,169 coming from individuals, most out of district.
Half of his entire donations, $530,437 came from Texans for Lawsuit Reform. $Texas Conservative Majority donated $267,350, and the former PAC Defend Texas Liberty gave $65,000. DTL was disbanded after the Texas Tribune caught them meeting with a known white supremacist, Nick Fuentes. Go ahead. Look him up.
House District 129 is a Republican stronghold with a 15 point advantage. Yet the Texas Republican Party is dumping over $1 Million into his campaign instead of funding other candidates in tight races. In the past Republican candidates would spend $40,000 because it is such a red district but something is happening. As I said previously maybe there is a perfect storm coming with an absolute horrible candidates like Bowen running against an excellent challenger, Albert Wittliff, and a wave of pissed off voters.
Here are the biggest donors to Bowen.
