If they will turn on their own, they will turn on you.
The Republican Party of Harris County has their own group of Mexican MAGAts running for county offices. They also have 44 out of 442 state candidates I consider to be Mexican MAGAts, Mexican Americans running as the Tio Tomas of the Latino community. As I said:
Historically, many Mexican American voters lean toward moderate political candidates rather than those on the extremes. Grounded in traditional values, strong faith traditions, and close ties to the Catholic Church, many prioritize family, anti-abortion stances, and lawful immigration processes.
Over the past decade, ineffective messaging from the Democratic Party led a significant portion of the Mexican American electorate to shift toward Donald Trump and the broader Republican Party. This shift occurred despite the GOP’s adoption of aggressive deportation policies that directly impact these same neighborhoods. Consequently, Mexican American candidates campaigning on the Republican ticket face sharp criticism for supporting a political agenda widely viewed as harmful to their own heritage, as well as to Muslims, educators, law enforcement officers, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other targeted groups.
Mexican MAGAts are an embarrassment to their community. These are the Tio Tomas’ of the Texas Republican Party:
