Guess Who is Funding Former CCISD Trustee Scott Bowen in his State Representative Race

It’s the billionaire club.

As reported yesterday, Bowen has raised over $1.1 million in his race for Bay Area State Representative. But a closer look at the numbers reveals a startling truth: 88% of his campaign funding comes from out-of-district PACs, while only 5% comes from voters living in the district.

Nearly eight out of every ten dollars ($862,787, or 78%) flowing into his campaign come from just three powerful Political Action Committees:

  • Texans for Lawsuit Reform ($530,437): Heavily backed by the homebuilding and insurance industries, TLR exists to restrict consumer access to the court system. If elected, Bowen is positioned to push legislation forcing homeowners into private arbitration when cheated by insurers or builders.
  • Texas Conservative Majority ($267,350): Backed by millions from out-of-state megadonor Jeff Yass, who aggressively funds candidates supporting school vouchers—a policy Bowen was caught on camera supporting.
  • Texas United for a Conservative Majority ($65,000): A rebranded PAC established by billionaires Timothy Dunn and Farris Wilks after their previous committee was exposed for ties to a known white supremacist.

With 95% of his money coming from billionaire mega-donors and special interest groups outside the district, ask yourself: when it comes time to vote on key legislation, whose interests will Scott Bowen prioritize?

Hint: Not you.
