UPDATE: It is confirmed all military planes and equipment will be a No Show at the Air Show. No refunds will be given.

The Wings over Houston Airshow is still on for this weekend October 18-19 but with a small caveat. According to KHOU Houston:
“All military and federal government assets, including ground display aircraft and military performers, will not attend the 2025 Wings Over Houston Airshow,” organizers said. “Assets include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, NASA aircraft, and single-ship military demonstration teams.”
So no Thunderbirds, no static displays, no military presence, nothing government related because the government is shutdown. Tickets for general admission are still over priced at $60 each for those 15 and above. If the government funding is restored by Wednesday the military displays and the Thunderbirds will be available.
So, not only will your health care costs take a hit, you won’t get to see the Thunderbirds this year.
The La Marque Police Department, Galveston County DA, and the Sheriff were all put on notice at last night’s Council Meeting. A citizen of La Marque, Mr. Re’Chard Loftis, spoke during the public input portion of the meeting and it was NSFW. (Not Suitable For Work) Needless to say he was, in his words, “f***ing pissed off”. Take 3 minutes of your time and watch his comments here. They are disturbing to say the least.
He is pissed about being harassed by a member of City Council and warned LMPD Chief Aragon and County Law Enforcement of potential violence if they do not take action. Of course it was all about Lowry. Again. Lowry conveniently skipped the meeting and for good reason. What Mr. Loftis documented was fucking horrible.
Mr Loftis told Council that last Friday Lowry and his wife, Sarah, harassed his family while at dinner. It began with Sarah confronting his wife in the bathroom then they both continued the harassment at their table and then outside where Lowry, as usual, pulled out his iPhone 11 and began taping before driving off in his minivan. Mr. Loftis states that Lowry then posted a Facebook Live video attacking his family including his 4 year old grandson. It begs the question “Who the fuck does that?” and “How old are you? 12?”. Again, watch the video.
Mr. Loftis made it clear to Galveston County law enforcement that something had to be done about Lowry and his harassment of individuals. This is the second time they have been warned, first by Council Member Yancy during a press conference where, as expected, Lowry caused a disruption. Lowry has had numerous complaints filed against him with the police for harassment and yet no action has been taken. He has a number of lawsuits pending against him for harassment. His Facebook “Lowry News Network” page has been removed a number of times for harassment. He has a history of harassment in Washington resulting in a Domestic Violence Protection Order. The list of his harassment is documented here.
Mr. Loftis wasn’t the only person providing comments about the Chief. Others accused his office of racial profiling, mismanagement of funds, and not taking appropriate action. Some called for his resignation or Council firing him. The Chief’s job is under scrutiny as is the DA’s and the Sheriff. As Mr Loftis said “LMPD, Galveston County, ya’ll better do something!”.

At a special La Marque city council meeting held to address the financial issues of the city, City Councilman Joseph Lowry warned the Mayor about his evidence of bribes with developers. He mentioned his evidence with copies of a check and recordings. He called the Mayor a liar, and was threatened with removal for disrupting the meeting but he continued his baseless allegations claiming to have evidence. Click the video above to see the exchange.
So an open records request for this evidence was requested and the City has responded. It doesn’t exist.

The race for House District 129 might be interesting next year. The current Representative, Dennis Paul, has held this office for 10 years with little to show for his time except to promote Abbott’s voucher bill and gun sanctuary bill. He is now running on his unimpressive record for State Senator.
On the Republican side you have a conservative, Bob Mitchell, running against the former CCISD Trustee, MAGAt Scott Bowen. Bowen’s time on the CCISD School Board was marred with controversy and constant chaos. He was lucky to be reelected with 48% against two other candidates. He lost his bid for a 3rd term by 8% against a real conservative. Bob Mitchell is the former President of the Bay Area Economic Partnership. Unlike Bowen he has the skills to work with others and do what politicians do, politic. Bowen has proven with his two terms on CCISD that he lacks the skills to be a politician.
Albert Wittliff ran for CCISD a couple of years ago. After losing his race, instead of dropping out of the scene waiting for the next election, he volunteered to work with CCISD on security issues, his forte. You can read a bit about him below. The general election could be between a moderate and a conservative if Mitchell wins the primary or between a moderate and an extremist MAGAt if Bowen wins.

Some might think it’s all fun and games. It’s not.
NASA employees are in their second week of being furloughed. What happens when NASA employees are furloughed? Not much, literally. Basically employees are forbidden by law to work during a furlough. That means they cannot go to the office. They can’t work from home. They can’t conduct or participate in telecoms.
Do they get paid for not going to work? Depends. If the furlough continues past the pay period employees will not receive their paychecks because, well the government is closed, including the office that issues checks. The question this time is whether they will receive back pay for the time they were furloughed. In the past, or at least the last 4 furloughs, back pay was authorized.
This time might be different. The million of federal employees furloughed might have to suck it up and take a very costly hit all while members of Congress will get full payment. The argument will be easy. “If you didn’t work, you shouldn’t get paid.”, or “If I didn’t work I wouldn’t get paid.”. Even though federal employees were forbidden by law to work they might not get paid leaving them with unpaid mortgages, etc.
Some employees at NASA will be designated as essential such as those who manage the Space Station at Mission Control. Contractors are not affected by the furlough. While the furlough continues some employees may find out they are fired.
But that won’t happen until they get back because, well the government is closed, including HR.

La Marque City Councilman Joseph Lowry. This is strange. Lowry was elected to the La Marque City Council in May of 2024. In just over a year Lowry has brought chaos to the city resulting in multiple lawsuits, resignations, unwanted media attention, and more. You can read a list of his chaotic adventures here.
Back in February of 2022, 2 years before being elected, Lowry applied for an “Assumed Name Record Certificate of Ownership for Unincorporated Business or Profession”, in other words, a DBA (Doing Business As). Unlike his other DBA’s for his concrete business, his fitness gym, and “Heavenly Bodies”, he filed for two business names using his home address for K Yancy and M Salazar. (Click to see the applications) K Yancy could be Kate Yancy, or Karoline Yancy, or Kristine Yancy or Kimberley Yancy, a sitting Council Member. This screenshot is from the County Court’s website:
Turns out about 4 months after these DBA filings Kimberley Yancy filed suit against Lowry (Case #22-CV-0993 | Kimberley Yancy vs. Joseph Lowry) asking for a temporary restraining order. In the end both parties agreed to a settlement including refraining from harassment, personal attacks, and Lowry must stay 75 ft from Yancy’s residence. Strange that Yancy had to agree not to harrass Lowry even though she wasn’t harassing him in the first place. You can read the entire order here. (Go ahead and read it. It is disturbing.)
But why in the living hell would a grown ass man create a DBA using his home address and someone else’s name especially using the name of someone he is being accused of harassing? Who the fuck does that and for what purpose? According to Yancy’s lawsuit, Lowry had access to Yancy’s social security number which should scare the crap out of everyone especially if someone also has created a DBA under that same name. Of course I can hear Lowry saying it wasn’t “Kimberley” it was just “K”. He also created a DBA for an M Salazar. He has had a running issue with claims of fraud and illegal activity against Mandalynn Salazar. Coincidence?
According to Galveston County both DBAs are active. Who the fuck does that? When visiting the County Court House, I noticed an interesting warning posted by the County Clerk, Dwight Sullivan.
You would think the La Marque Police Department would have more pressing issues to pursue besides going after a 70 year old woman for an alleged misdemeanor.
Just a few days ago the ATF and the Galveston County Sheriffs raided a property in La Marque confiscating explosives, weapons, and drugs. The La Marque Police Department was not involved in the raid probably because they were too busy chasing a 70 year old woman for a misdemeanor.
The woman who goes by “The Mark” (La Marque) on Facebook filed a police report concerning fake social media pages created under her name to the La Marque Police. She did not create these pages and made the report as a precaution especially since there has been political unrest in La Marque ever since Joseph Lowry was elected to City Council. Instead of providing protection the LMPD prosecuted her claiming she created the fake pages and then filed a false police report. None of that makes sense.
She will be turning herself in tomorrow which will probably make national news and Congressional hearings to address the allegations. I expect Lowry to drive up in his mini van and his iPhone 13 to cover the event. Meanwhile Council Member Lowry is claiming victory (see below) and is expecting more indictments for others in the area. The Mark makes posts focusing on Lowry and his constant baseless allegations about waste, fraud, and abuse in the City. Most of the posts are simply copies of what he posts on his own Facebook page, which has been removed by Facebook at one time or another but it is back now.
You would think LMPD would be more interested in Lowry’s history of possession of drugs which have been documented, not once, but twice and should have disqualified him from serving. But then again a 70 year-old woman is a pretty easy target. If the charges actually stick it is a misdemeanor and will end in a small fine, a slap on the wrist, and Congressional hearings.
I’ve seen a lot of ethics violations over the last 20 years. This one ranks right up there with the best…worst. If you want to read another one of the worst, read about Secretary of State Jane Nelson.
Republicans have lost their “law and order” card. This is just plain sick. Taylor Goldenstein of the Houston Chronicle wrote a couple of articles about former Representative Chris Paddie. He was fined $105,000 by the Texas Ethics Commission for violating the State’s revolving door law. He also created a charity the day he announced his intent not to seek reelection and transferred $450,000 of his donors money to his own charity. He is the Chair of the charity and his son is the Vice Chair.
Lucky for Paddie the Texas Attorney General will not enforce the $105,000 fine and the Ethics Commission has no authority to do so. Like other republicans who have violated the ethics laws in Texas he is just going to ignore the fine. There is no record of the fine or the investigation of Paddie on the Ethics website. There was a formal complaint filed against him but if you have money you can have this complaint and resolution hidden from the public.
After leaving office an elected official can transfer their campaign cash to other candidates, the State, or charities but to create a charity under his own name is an incredible loophole that Texas Republicans will never close. His family can now benefit from the donations his supporters gave him.
According to the article he refunded about $30,000 to donors. I think I’ll look at this at a later time.

The civil trial for case # 24-CV-2218 | Walter Burt, Et Al vs. Joseph Lowry has been postponed. Originally scheduled for Oct the jury trial has been moved to a future date. This case is between the plaintiffs Walter Burt, Burt IV Construction LLC, Kimberley Yancy, CJ Beard, Jim Ross and the defendant Joseph Lowry. The documents are difficult to understand but it seems like this case is about harassment by Lowry. What a surprise.
Maybe this delay has something to do with Lowry’s deposition. According to a document filed with the court Lowry was deposed on July 31, 2025. He was deposed by the plaintiff’s attorney for 51 minutes and Lowry’s attorney for 5 minutes. Maybe that deposition will become public record. I’m sure it would be very interesting. WTF is going on in Galveston County? You have Sheriff Jimmy Fullen lied about his police record and may have his law enforcement license revoked in November. La Marque City Councilman Joseph Lowry is making baseless allegations of fraud and illegal activity while having been charged and convicted with possession of meth. And now former Texas City Commissioner, Dee Ann Haney, is going to jail for killing two people while intoxicated.
But, she was convicted in 2017 and sentenced to 10 years in jail. This week she was caught under the influence again and the judge revoked her probation sending her to jail to complete her 10 year sentence. 8 f***ing years later after killing two people.
What is disturbing is that she received only probation for killing two people. Just probation. So forgive me if I laugh when Galveston County elected officials talk about law and order. GFY.

Well, actually in this case he did and for good reason. The Houston Chronicle posted an article concerning Cy Fair ISD. It’s detailed, long and a good read. Turns out the so called “Conservatives” running for reelection are fighting each other over the endorsement from the Harris County Republican Party. Who is more MAGAt? Who will bring Bowen’s chaos into the district? Who will attack the gay community, Hispanics, and non-christians while claiming to be a christian?
How does Bowen fit into this chaos? Bowen was referenced late in the article “The chair of the local government committee, Scott Bowen, did not respond to a request for comment.” Bowen not only was responsible for the chaos in CCISD he was responsible for recruiting candidates to run for school boards across the county. In CCISD he recruited some of the most unqualified candidates to ever run for the board. Misty Dawson, Christine Parizo, Pete Lauzon, and Joe Machol. All were gawd awful candidates and all lost. It will be interesting to see who funded the CFISD trustees.
Bowen not only recruited these horrible candidates he found campaign money for them from the two Texas Billionaires who funded Defend Texas Liberty. This group was dissolved after their meeting with a known white supremacist was uncovered by the Texas Tribune. Bowen still associates with these individuals.
Bowen is now running for State Representative so he can further the decline of public schools in Texas. Well at least his gdamn signs are being removed by the City of Houston.
Arrest. On April 20, 2005 Lowry was pulled over for speeding. He was arrested for obstruction claiming his name was “Jonathon Troy Lowry”. He had outstanding warrants for his arrest. His vehicle was searched. The officers found methamphetamine, blister packs of cold pills, a 12 gauge shotgun, and other items. Lowry had a prior 1997 conviction for Theft in the First Degree. Plea Deal On March 3, 2006, according to the Sentencing Document Lowry pled guilty to the crime of possession. Lowry stated in his own words “On 04/20/05 did knowingly possess pseudoephedrine with the intent to provide the same to a cook who would manufacture methamphetamine.” You can read the plea deal here.
Sentencing On March 30, 2006 Lowry was sentenced to 29.75 months. It is unclear to me what the sentencing means concerning DOSA (Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative) and time served. You can read the entire sentencing document here and determine it for yourself.
Drug Evaluation On August 25, 2009 Lowry came into the office for a drug evaluation and possible treatment program. You can read the entire document here. There are details about his life but in short the evaluator did not recommend any treatment.
Conviction Vacated 15 years later as with his previous conviction in Superior Court of Washington for King County, case # 05-1-06568-7 Lowry petitioned the court to vacate his 2nd drug conviction based upon the Washington Supreme Court case State v. Blake. You can read the entire document here.
Applying for City Council. A few years later Lowry ran for La Marque city council. On his application he checked the box “I have not been finally convicted for a felony”. Whether checking that box instead of the box that states he was convicted but the conviction was vacated, makes him ineligible to run is for someone with legal experience and not a two bit blogger or an Undercover Investigative Journalist.
In Conclusion. So there you have it. Arrested. Charged. Convicted. Served time. Vacated. I hope this clears up this situation concerning his 2nd drug conviction.
Political sign wars are petty. Signs don’t win elections. Don’t engage in sign wars. It is a waste of time, but….. FFS Scott, it’s 5 months out!
Off of his embarrassing defeat for CCISD Trustee, Scott Bowen has filed to run for State Representative. The republican primary is March 3, 2026. Five months out Bowen has decided to litter the district with his 4×8 signs, most if not all, are in violation of city ordinances.
A google search for “political yard signs rules texas” states signs cannot be place prior to 90 days before an election or on the right of way. Unfortunately Texas has no way to enforce this. The Texas Ethics Commission will not accept complaints about signs and they lack any enforcement of the law. Many cities have adopted ordinances concerning political signs. They do have enforcement abilities but again they have better things to do with their time. The City of Houston has an ordinance with a 90 day limit as well as right of way restrictions. City of Webster has an ordinance with a 45 day limit. I am sure Friendswood, El Lago, Nassau Bay, Taylor Lake Village, and Seabrook have similar ordinances.
If you want to report a sign in violation of the Houston Sign Ordinance, call 311 and provide the location, who the sign belongs to and why it violates the ordinance. In Webster call (281) 332-1826 with the same information.
This isn’t rocket science folks. We don’t want to look at political signs on the right of way for a full 5 months before the election. Not only is it against city and state ordinances it is just disrespectful. Bowen is the only candidate violating these rules. It’s as if he is above the law.
Maybe voters in the republican primary should tell Bowen “If you can’t follow the laws, you shouldn’t be making the laws.” BTW Bowen is being challenged in the primary by an excellent candidate, Bob Mitchell.

There’s a lot of opinions and questions about the felony conviction of La Marque City Councilman Joseph Lowry for possession of methamphetamine and whether he was eligible to run for office. I dug into the court records which was not easy. Here is what I found. The legal documentation can be found at the Superior Court of Washington for King County website, case # 05-1-06568-7.
TheArrest. On 9/29/2004 Lowry, age 25, was stopped for a traffic violation in Auburn Washington. After determining his identity the police found he had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and his car searched. The search found a baggy of methamphetamine (meth), a scale, cold medications used for the production of meth, and a glass pipe with residue. You can read the entire document filed in the Superior Court of Washington for King County case 05-C-06568-7 KNT here.
Bail. The State requested a bail of $10,000 based upon his criminal history of theft in 1997, 1998 drugs possession, 1998 Harassment, 2004 Assault and resisting arrest, a pending telephone harassment, and an outstanding warrant for a racing charge.
Guilty Plea. On 9/6/2005 Lowry plead guilty to one count of possession of methamphetamine. You can read the entire plea here. Lowry stated in his own words “On September 24, 2004, I did unlawfully and feloniously possess the residue of methamphetamine, a controlled substance, located on the scales found in my car in King County Washington.”
Sentencing. Lowry was sentenced to 97 days in jail with time served. (I assume that means he was in jail for 97 days) He had to complete 12 months of community custody. You can view the sentencing document here.
Vacating the conviction. 16 years later the Washington State Supreme Court in State v. Blake, found the state’s felony drug possession statute unconstitutional. Based upon this ruling Lowry petitioned the court to vacate his conviction. According to google:
Vacating a conviction is a legal process where a court withdraws or annuls a past guilty plea or judgment, effectively making the conviction void. This is achieved by filing a motion with the court, arguing reasons such as newly discovered evidence of innocence or constitutional violations during the original trial. If successful, you are released from the penalties of the offense and can legally state you were not convicted of the crime, though this does not erase the fact you were initially charged. The specific legal grounds and procedures vary significantly by jurisdiction, so consulting with a qualified attorney is crucial for pursuing this type of post-conviction relief in Texas.

I am not a reddit user. I’ve heard about it but nothing more. But I was forward an interesting post titled “Scott Bowen-unflushable turd“. Needless to say it piqued my interest and I visited the site. OH MY GAUD! The original posting has been removed by the moderators but the comments about Scott are still there and they are NOT good. Some are comical, most are not flattering and they are coming from people who know him! But don’t believe me, you can read them yourself here.
Prior to the CCISD election I wrote “Bowen: A Thread to CCISD Education” documenting his troubling associations with extremist organizations, his support for school vouchers, his billionaire buddies donations, and the chaos he brought to CCISD. Thanks to the voters Bowen was defeated and CCISD is much better for it. Bowen is now running for State Representative against a great conservative, Bob Mitchell, former President of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. Hopefully conservatives throughout the district will vote for the conservative in the primary and put Bowen to rest.
But, back to the Reddit post. Again, don’t believe me, go read the comments. These are coming from inside Bowen’s house, people who know him. Here are some examples:
The Houston Chronicle wrote an excellent article “Who are Houston’s power brokers?” identifying the millionaires who donated more than $350M over the last 25 years. It is worth a read. The article has a number of interactive charts showing who donated, how much, and where the money went to but they failed to mentioned what party they belong to. So here is is.
The Chronicle identified 25 millionaires who gave a total of over $337 Million. Of that amount $36 Million was donated by Democrats, just over 10%. Republicans gave about 90% for a total of $301 Million. So no, both sides don’t do it. In Houston Democrats have been capable of being competitive in local races even though being grossly outspent over and over again. (Case in point Mealer vs Hidalgo for Harris County Judge)
Missing in this group is Mattress MAGAt Mac who gave just under $500,000 in state donations, not including any county or federal donations. Here are the totals:
Leave it to City Council Member Joseph Lowry. Again.
If you haven’t been keeping up to date with the fiscal situation in La Marque you are missing an unhinged side show orchestrated by Lowry. Last night the Mayor had enough of Lowry’s baseless claims of illegal activity by the Mayor and other Council Members and called him out for his continued spreading of lies. Instead of finding solutions to a very serious problem, Lowry continued his baseless allegations including accusing the Mayor of accepting bribes by developers, a relatively new allegation. As the Mayor said, the only one who is claiming this illegal activity is Lowry, not the police, not the DA, not the Texas Rangers. It is all baseless, made up, allegations.
According to the rules of the Council the Mayor can issue 3 warnings to a Council Member and then have them removed to a nearby room to participate electronically. You can watch as a police officer looms over Lowry as the Mayor verifies the process after giving 2 warnings. Lowry eventually shut his pie hole and the meeting continued.

Leave it to the awkward dude in the suits 2 sizes too small to violate simple rules on sign placement. I’m talking about Scott Bowen who is running for State Representative after getting his ass kicked off the CCISD school board. Bowen’s buddies have put up signs around the district, 5 months before the election. There are rules governing the placement of signs. According to Click2Houston:
Texas law prohibits political signs from going up earlier than 90 days before an election and the signs must be removed within 10 days after the election.
Trying to find that specific law is difficult. The Texas Ethics Commission has a number of articles and pamphlets on the subject. Title 15 Election code is on the TEC website. It’s pretty easy to understand and simple to follow. There are restrictions on where to place signs for instance you can’t put signs on Government property including the fences surrounding the school, county property, or NASA.
There are restrictions for placing signs for good reasons. We don’t want to look at political signs 5 months before the election or 5 months after the candidate loses. There are also specific laws concerning the wording on signs. For instance a candidate must have the word FOR, as in Mr Smith FOR city council if they are a candidate for the office. The sign must have “Paid for by…” and the “”NOTICE: IT IS A VIOLATION OF STATE LAW (CHAPTERS 392 AND 393, TRANSPORTATION CODE), TO PLACE THIS SIGN IN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF A HIGHWAY.” notices.
Harris County also has rules against putting up signs prior to the 90 days before the election. Bowen will be on the ballot in early March, 5 months from now. He has a conservative challenger, Bob Mitchell, who is currently following the laws concerning sign placement. Unfortunately There are no sign police and no organization to report violations. Houston used to have a sign patrol assigned to pick up signs in the medians but I have not seen those in years.
So Scott if you can’t follow the law, you shouldn’t be elected to make the law.
Why are you running? Is a question Democrats are asking and getting no answers.
I mentioned earlier that a relatively newcomer to the Harris County Democratic Party has thrown her name into the hat for Chair. “Newcomer” is a bit generous. Traci Gibson is a young, educated, attorney but her lack of any other qualifications for the job is troubling. Troubling enough for a couple of precinct chairs to send out emails warning others about signing her petition to get on the ballot.
Gibson was recently appointed to be a precinct chair. She has no on the ground experience working her precinct except for getting the title. She has no experience working with the party or advocating for the party or candidates. She has a very troubling voting record, that is, she has none. She hasn’t voted in the last 3 Democratic primaries. She also has a tendency to snap at individuals who ask a very simple question “Why are you running?”. I should know. I was one she snapped at.
But don’t take it from me. Here are some comments from emails sent by various precinct chairs:
Gibson says she has the “strategies and skills” to make Democrats dominate the next HC election. Seriously, from someone who has zero documented experience in politics, recently changed her voter registration to Harris County and just became a precinct chair at the last CEC?
Ms. Gibson did not vote in the 2024 Democratic primary, OR the 2022 primary OR the 2020 primary. Please stop and think about that for a moment — while we Precinct Chairs were out there sweating and block-walking, making phone calls, handing out literature, holding candidate rallies and manning the polls, during three of the most important and stressful primaries in recent history, Ms. Gibson made a conscious decision not to vote as a Democrat.
We should also ask ourselves: Why is she running? {But please don’t ask her why she’s running. She’s blown up on a few people for simply asking this simple question} [told you!] And more importantly — who is behind her? The speed and style of her campaign suggest that she has powerful backers. Some have speculated about outside influences. Regardless of who’s funding or guiding her, it’s clear that her run is highly coordinated. Her lack of disclosure about her true intentions during meetings with Precinct Chairs — many of whom were invited under the impression that the meetings were not campaign-related — is especially troubling.
