Texas State Representative Dennis Paul (R) sends thoughts and prayers to #BoulderColorado
March 24, 2021Republican Racist Rhetoric: Texas Congressman Chip "Racist" Roy, #NoPlaceButTexas
March 20, 2021
#NoPlaceButTexas
They are out in the open. The once great Republican Party that believed in simple family values such as respect and honor now is just a bunch of racist, rotten assholes led by Trump. They are not even trying to cover it up.
Last week it was Senator Ron Johnson claiming he wasn’t afraid of the white patriots who were storming the capitol, attacking police, and looking to hang Mike Pence. He wasn’t afraid as he ran like a coward with others like Ted Cruz. But he would have been afraid if the same rioters were Black. Dude, that is just racist.
Now coming off that racist rhetoric Texas Congressman Chip “Racist” Roy piles on with his comments towards the Asian American Community. Racist Roy can’t act like an adult and wear a mask appropriately in order to protect others around him and he had to to bring up lynching in a hearing to address hate crimes directed to the AAPI. Maybe someone needs to remind him that lynching was used as hillbilly justice towards everyone except the white folk.
This is who they are. #RacistRoy From CNN:
State Representative Dennis Paul's HB1725 will end drop off boxes for voting
March 18, 2021
Yet another example of #NoPlaceButTexas. This is truly embarrassing.
Today House Bill 1725 will be heard in committee by Representative Dennis Paul. The bill will end the use of drop off boxes or drop off sites for mail in ballots. It begs the question “Why?”. Drop off boxes are in use in 40 states leaving Texas in a minority. Again. Voters can sit at the table, make their choices, then drop off their ballots while taking a walk to the grocery store. Here in Texas, or at least in Harris County, voters had the option of dropping the ballot off at their local county court house or at a drive through facility. They also had the opportunity to mail it.
Dennis Paul defended this stupidity with an email to his constituents:
If a person has the ability to make an in-person appearance, they are able to vote in person just as easily. Those who are disabled, sick, elderly, and those who have lost faith in the USPS, can stand in long lines and sweat like a pig to vote like everyone else.
OK. The last sentence wasn’t exactly what he said but you get the idea. The bill will be heard this morning. I am interested in hearing Paul stoop to a new low by carrying Abbotts political laundry.
Socialists primary Texas State Representative Gina Hinojosa.
March 11, 2021

| From the Texas Tribue |
Instead of “Running everywhere and losing everywhere, the democratic socialists of America have started a targeted primary campaign against Democrats in deep, deep, blue districts. First up is Texas State Representative Gina Hinojosa House District 49 (Austin).
Representative Hinojosa won her district by 60 points (yes, 60, it is that blue) so it is an easy target for the socialist party. Hinojosa is a great representative and is the Vice Chair of the Criminal Jurisprudence; Human Services Committee. Prior to her run for HD49 Hinojosa served as a member of the Austin Independent School District. Her challenger, Herbie Smith, is a student at Texas University.
Back in 2018 the lead socialist group, Justice Democrats, ran 80 candidates across the United States. They lost 73.
Out of 80 candidates endorsed by JD, only 7 won. 2 were incumbents in deep blue districts. 1 was unopposed. 4 were all in very blue districts wiping out their general election opponents. It’s not like they were endorsing in tough competitive states like Texas, although those that did, lost. All of them. One raised over a $1 Million and lost 70-30 in the primary.
In 2020 they got smarter targeting deep, deep blue areas such as the Travis County District Attorney’s office and just 9 candidates across the country. They did better and they believe they have the key to infiltrating the Democratic Party.
| Candidate | Position | Result | Percentage | |
| Marie Newman | IL-03 | Won in general | 53-46 | Deep Blue |
| Cori Bush | MO-01 | Won in general | 80-17 | Deep Blue |
| Jamaal Bowman | NY-16 | Won in general | 82-17 | Deep Blue |
| Georgette Gomez | CA-53 | Lost in General | 59-40 | Deep Blue |
| Kara Eastman | NE-02 | Lost in General | 50-46 | Toss up |
| Alex Morse | MA-01 | Lost in primary | 58-42 | Deep Blue |
| Betsy Sweet | ME-SN | Lost in primary | 71-22 | Collins Seat |
| Morgan Harper | OH-03 | Lost in primary | 68-31 | Deep Blue |
| Jessica Cisneros | TX-28 | Lost in primary | 57-39 | Deep Blue |
My outdoor covered patio paid for by USAA
March 9, 2021We just completed an outdoor patio. The contractor did a GREAT job! If you are in the Clear Lake area and are interested in his contact information email me at johncoby@sbcglobal.net. His crew was fast, very professional, and the results are fantastic! So how did USAA get involved? Glad you asked.

Last year USAA raised my home insurance from $4000/year to $5000. I have been with USAA for over 25 years so it was difficult to leave because I believed they would always take care of their members of the Armed Forces. I was wrong. I eventually found a better policy for $3000/year and I also switched my cars to GEICO for another substantial reduction.
#NoPlaceButTexas is no longer a slogan. It's a joke.
March 7, 2021Texas has a history of cute sayings such as “Come and Take it”, “We do things bigger in Texas”, “Don’t Mess with Texas”, “Thank god for Mississippi”, and my favorite “No Place But Texas”.
No Place but Texas was once a slogan celebrating the unique qualities of living in Texas, although I question if we are really unique. Much like every other state in the country we band together to help each other during times of need. We help neighbors rebuild fences after a hurricane. We provide supplies to those in need. We donate money. None of that is unique to Texas.
Now No Place but Texas is nothing but a joke. Looney Louie Gohmert, #CancunCruz, Trump Wannabe Greg Abbott, indicted Attorney General Ken Paxton, leadership failures, science deniers, guns on demand, no place but Texas. Literally.
Recently the “Energy Capitol of the World” was plunged into darkness during the winter storm of 2021. While the rest of the country was hunkered down enjoying their power and water, most of Texans were freezing their asses off unable to flush the toilet. Over 50 died. Republican elected officials were silent before and after the freeze leaving the Democrats to help those in need while #CancunCruz fled the state to weather the storm in Mexico with his hot wife and loving 10 year old whining brats. Yep. No Place But Texas.

In 2003 besides deregulation electricity, which brought the freeze higher electricity rates for consumers, Texas deregulated college tuition and home insurance. Like electricity rates the cost of college skyrocketed and home insurance is out the roof. No Place But Texas.
Recently Greg Abbott has ended the mask mandate and will fully open the State 2 months too son, just like he did last summer which resulted in over 45,000 Texans losing their lives. His failures reminds me of another saying “All hat and no cattle”.
Luckily for the Republican Party, who ushered in this Texas sized stupidity, “We do things bigger in Texas”. We have the biggest idiots in the country who will forget about how they froze their nuts off or how much they are paying for electricity or tuition or home insurance. They will forget about the 45,000 who died of COVID or the 50 who froze to death. In 2022 they will again vote for the very people who did this to them. Again, No Place But Texas.
Well as the saying goes in Mississippi, “Thank god for Texas”.
State Representative Dennis Paul HD129 takes lead on bills restricting voting rights
March 1, 2021
Representative Dennis Paul is in a safe district. He will have that seat until he qualifies for a State provided pension or until he wants to leave. It is a solid red, red, red seat. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he is leading the way for the Republican Party on filing bills to make it more difficult to vote.
Here in Harris County our elected officials have made it very easy to vote. They created Voting Centers allowing voters to vote in any location during early voting and Election Day. They created drop off centers across the County allowing voters to drop their absentee ballot off and trace it’s progress. They created over night voting locations that 10s of thousands of voters used in 2020. In 2022 they will adopt new voting machines with a verifiable paper ballot. Unfortunately Dennis Paul has filed bills to stop most of this.
Here are the bills Paul has filed:
HB 1725 will prohibit voters from using a drop off site for their absentee ballot.
HB 2265 confirms there will never be more than 12 hours of Early Voting on any day during the Early Voting Period. No voting earlier than 7:00 a.m. and no voting later than 7:00 p.m. This prevents 24-hour voting as some counties set up in 2020.
HB 2263 makes it clear that Election Officials may not cure an unsigned, incomplete, or incorrect Voter Registration Application, Ballot, or Ballot by Mail Application. The bill also requires that on any candidate’s Petition in Lieu of a Filing Fee, if the document had to be notarized twice it must be accompanied with a signed affidavit explaining what was cured, by whom, and when after the first notarization.
Raising Campaign Cash: Republican Party of Texas

What did your elected official do during the Deep Freeze of 2021?
February 22, 2021I lost power for 3 days and water for a day during the Deep Freeze of 2021. Temperatures inside the house dropped to a low of 41 degrees. Luckily I had a gas fireplace that kept the room temperature from dropping any further. I was one of the luckier ones. Needless to say this was a HUGE failure of our State government which has been under republican control for over 20 years. So what did our elected officials do during the Deep Freeze? Let’s see….
President Joe Biden: Immediately granted disaster relief when requested to do so.
Senator John Cornyn: Tweeted
Senator Ted Cruz: Packed up his family and flew to Cancun abandoning those in need, got caught, blamed it on his 10 year old kids, lied about “dropping them off”, lied about flying right back, lied about “working from the beach”, passed out water 2 days after the event.
Congressman Brian Babin: MIA
Governor Greg Abbott: On Fox News he blamed the catastrophe on the Green New Deal, which doesn’t exist. Then changed his tune when speaking on CNN and in front of the local media.
State Senator Larry Taylor: MIA
State Representative Dennis Paul: MIA. Retweeted something from Greg Abbott.
County Judge Lina Hidalgo: Warned the County about the possible devastation from the upcoming freeze. Her office provided tips and updates throughout the freeze on TV for those who had power and social media.
Mayor Sylvester Turner: Prepared the city for the freeze. Continued to keep the citizens informed of the status of the deep freeze.
Ted Cruz got caught. He had to make a choice.
February 18, 2021So during a Texas sized freeze that left millions without power and water, Texas Senator Ted Cruz skips out to go to sunny Cancun and got caught. He had to make a choice. Either continue on his little vacation while his state freezes and risk being photographed on the beach under an umbrella drinking a Corona, or make up a lame excuse and blame it on his kids.
He chose to blame it on his kids claiming he was just “dropping” them off. Yeah. Right. That’s what normal people do, fly with their families to a vacation spot then turn around and fly back, on standby. He had a tough choice to make much like his constituents at home had to make choices on how to keep their kids warm without flying to Cancun. He had to decide what was worse, pictured on the beach while Texans clean up the mess from broken pipes, or coming home and defend a bullshit excuse.
Ted chose bullshit.
