Greg Abbott’s lack of leadership on the COVID crisis is simply breath taking.

After the epic mismanaging of the COVID crisis Greg Abbott has only one option when it comes to advising parents when returning their kids to school, don’t look up. Just keep your head in the sand, don’t believe the statistics, don’t believe the doctors, and whatever you do do not believe the experts. Just send your kids back to school and let’s see what happens.

Greg Abbott had a once in a century opportunity to lead Texas through this crisis. All he had to do was to listen to the experts in the field, watch the statistics, and work with the leaders of the community to keep our state open while doing it responsibly. Instead he followed trump and politicized the crisis pitting Texans against Texans. Based upon stupidity he tied the hands of County Commissioners, Mayors, and School Boards prohibiting them from taking action to protect their community and kids in school based upon science and the experts in the field.

Because of Greg Abbott’s childish stupidity 76,000 Texans have lost their lives. He may not be responsible for all of the deaths but he contributed to it. All he had to do was to lead, listen to the experts, and act like a gdamn adult.

He didn’t. Just like trump.

You would think a place of worship would be more concerned about the safety of their sheep than the right to fleece them of their money.

On November 2 there will be an election to decide amendments to the Texas Constitution. Proposition Number 3 will appear on the ballot as

The constitutional amendment to prohibit this state or a political subdivision of this state from prohibiting or limiting religious services of religious organizations during a time of an uncontrollable infectious disease.

Ok. That’s not exactly the wording but it is clear that the republicans in office did not like the lock downs that affected the collection of money at church services during the COVID crisis. I can’t remember when a state or political subdivision has ever had to instruct a church to do something in order to protect the general population. Now with a constitutional amendment churches can gather even during an infectious outbreak, allowing the sheep to infect others in their family and friends circles.

If we ever had another pandemic, or if we can’t seem to shake the current one, there are members of churches who actually believe that gathering together to pray will provide protection. Science has proven otherwise.

It’s sad that our elected officials from a state that has lost over 64,000 Texans to COVID can’s seem to grow the fuck up and do what is right.

Thanks to Greg Abbott for his incredible leadership at our time of need. Good luck to all of our teachers, parents, and students. Let’s hope your thoughts and prayers can overcome science and protect you, your family, and friends from spreading COVID.

As you know I live a block from you in the Bay Knoll subdivision. I am sorry to hear about the passing of your friend and State Republican Executive Committee Member, Scott Apley, from COVID. He leaves behind a wife, who is also COVID positive, and an infant child. Unfortunately you and your party are responsible for his death and you should ask for forgiveness next Sunday at St. Bernadettes.

 

Your party has failed Mr Apley by allowing misinformation to be spread by your members. You party has failed over 53,000 families in the state by not taking this pandemic seriously. You allowed members of your party, “conservative” leaders in the community, and elected officials, such as Mr. Apley to mock science, downplay the severity of the virus, spread rumors, and fight every move by every elected official to stop this deadly virus in its track. You, personally failed Mr. Apley.

 

As a former member of the State Democratic Executive Committee I know you had the opportunity to pull aside Mr. Apley, or simply call him to demand that he stop spreading false information. If my leadership had pulled me aside to address my behavior I would have listened. I would have complied. Mr. Apley would have listened to you. Members of your party would have listened to you and Greg Abbott, but both of you did not have the courage to buck Donald Trump and simply followed his deathly lead. You had the opportunity to lead. You had the opportunity to stop this virus from spreading in your own party but you failed as an elected official, as a Texan, and as a human being. As a result, a wife has lost her husband, and an infant will grow up without a father.

 

The death of your friend is on your hands. Instead of offering worthless thoughts and prayers you should offer an apology to Mr. Apley’s family and to the 50,000+ families who have lost their lives because of your cowardness. I am truly ashamed of you.
