A report from Seniorly, which provides an online directory of over 60,000 senior living communities, ranked the Lone Star State as the seventh-most expensive state for seniors. The ranking accounted for average retirement income, cost of living, average electricity bill cost and more.
It’s almost funny, if it wasn’t so damn expensive to live in Texas for anyone. Electricity, home insurance, and college tuition was reformed in 2003 by the republican legislature. All have skyrocketed since. Seniors probably don’t care about the cost of education unless they are paying for it for their grand kids because their kids can’t afford it but the cost of electricity and home insurance could crush them. Besides the cost of electricity and other essentials, Texas ranks #1 in domestic terrorist threats, #1 in mass shootings, #45 in property taxes, and #49 in living standards. All of these rankings are listed here. The Chronicle continues:
“The first is affordability,” Healy said. “The second is personal engagement, like where can people thrive when they age. And the third is access to health care. So this study, in and of itself, is an effort to take a deep dive into that first factor, which is affordability.”
Besides all of the rankings, Texas, once known as the friendly state, hates the gay community, Muslims, Jews, and other non-Christians. Texas craps all over our educators, and have flooded our streets with weapons even law enforcement are afraid of. We are slowly moving to a privatized education system like Louisiana did with horrible results. Every year it gets worse but people continue to flock here because it aligns with their values.

CCISD Scott Bowen, (Corporal Chaos) seen here grinning like a 12 year old under the bed covers watching porn, must have a perpetual woody over the new CCISD book challenging policy although I bet this isn’t exactly what he is expecting.
According to the Galveston County News CCISD voted unanimously on a book challenging policy:
“With the vote, parents and community members can challenge any instructional or library book they believe violates a new set guidelines, which include examples such as promoting or endorsing race or sex stereotyping or race or sex scapegoating.”
According to the GDN this new policy came about partially due to the new law that Bowen drooled all over banning CRT. CRT (Critical Race Theory) is an elective class taught to those seeking a PHD. It has never been taught in any school in CCISD because it is an elective class taught to those seeking a PHD. (It really is that simple) But that didn’t stop Bowen and the Republican Party from pushing a bill banning CRT much like they intend to ban Differential Equations being taught to kindergarten kids.
There are a lot of questions to be asked about this policy that deserve answers. On one hand this was a unanimous vote. I trust most of the board members to do what is right for the school district and to follow the law. Their hands might be tied by Greg Abbott who believes in local government, as long as he controls it. On the other hand it bothers the crap out of me to see language such as “promoting or endorsing race or sex stereotyping or race or sex scapegoating.”. What the living hell is that?
I bet there won’t be a swarming mass of parents combing through the library to find that one book that warrants pearl clutching, but I do believe the Korporal Khaos Klan has already targeted specific books and will send their purity police to keep the new review board busy for quite some time. For most parents they will be more concerned with their kids doing their homework, getting to school on time, attending their kids soccer games, enjoying the great education that is provided by CCISD, and other activities normal parents do.
Let’s review the details of the new policy and get input from those who know what they are talking about.

League City City Councilman, Justin Hicks, posing with a flag is is about to burn, is a Veteran of the United States Air Force and has led the effort to limit the 1st Amendment of the Constitution by banning books in the public library that he thinks are obscene. The book ban is code name for “LGBTQ ban”. It has nothing to do with “family values”. If that was the case he would be banning books by adulterers, liars, single parents, and fornicators! FORNICATORS!!! But that isn’t what he and his white wing buddies are doing.
Using the power of the public records request citizens obtained a copy of an email from Hicks, using his official city account, to a known anti-LGBTQ author inviting him to read one of his “Christian” books to kids at the library. I don’t believe Karen has the authority to decide who can read to kids. I would think the librarians would have that authority.
In his email Karen highlights his legislation to ban books, even though he didn’t pass any “legislation”, it was only a resolution. Karen claims that wholesome, family values, books are disappearing from the shelves (they aren’t). The entire email can be read below.
Make no mistake about this book banning crap. It has nothing to do with family values. It is an attack on members of our community, our family members, our friends, and our neighbors. Next up for Justin, he will be asking to speak to the manager.
Passing bills in Congress is hard work. It requires reaching across to the other side of the aisle, negotiate, compromise, and politicing. That’s what politicians do. Unfortunately those on the extremes, the members of The Squad and the members of The Insurrection Caucus are not capable of passing bills.
Over the last 4 years The Squad consisting of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Cory bush, Lohan Omar, Ayanna Presley, Jamaal bowman, and Rashida Harbi Tlaib have filed a total of 290 bills, passing only 4. 3 of these bills renamed buildings.
The insurrection Caucus is worse. Consisting of Chip Roy, Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Scott Perry, Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, and Jim Jordon the Caucus has filed 668 bills over 14 years, passing only 8. All but 1 of these bills renamed buildings.
Of note, Jim Jordan hasn’t filed a single bill over his entire 14 years in office. Lauren Boebert filed 42 bills that were so extreme none of them were sent to a committee for consideration. Andy Biggs filed 175 bills over 6 years with 1 signed into law renaming a clinic.
Most of The Squad filed a number of bills but only 4 became law. Cory Bush over 2 years filed 24 bills with only 1 being considered in committee. The Squad has followed in the steps of their leader, Bernie Sanders who after 32 years filed 3 bills, passed 3 bills, all of them renaming buildings.
These groups are similar because they are not capable of reaching across the aisle but make no mistake about the differences. The Squad isn’t defending the insurrectionists of jan 6, or supporting Donald Trump while he breaks the law over and over and over.
Last nights League City Council meeting was a total sausage fest.
The all white male members of the League City Council voted to beginning their purging of books from the city’s public library. On a split 4-3 vote and after almost 3 hours of comments from the community the Council approved a resolution, disguised as a resolution to protect children, that will open the door to banning books. It’s as if it was the 1930’s again. In Germany.
43 individuals including Republicans, librarians, men and women with advanced degrees in education, religious leaders, and others voiced their opposition to this unnecessary mingling into the work of Librarians. Only 10 individuals spoke in favor, many from an obscure church, and CCISD Trustee, Scott Bowen, identifying himself as a Trustee. (Bowen doesn’t even live in League City and does NOT represent the CCISD Board or his constituents on this matter.)
The comments from the Librarians, who have advanced degrees in education, stated that this poorly thought resolution was not necessary. They were creating a solution for a problem that does not exist. Books are currently screened by professionals, not religious zealots or political freaks. Four of the members didn’t care and voted for it anyway. Usually resolutions are passed unanimously with the authors working with everyone to come up with wording that everyone could stand united on. That didn’t happen last night.
Let’s hope that all these white, wholesome, christian, males pushing this book ban based upon their family values are never caught cheating on their wife or breaking the law because that would be a delicious treat to share. They could use the fire from the books to cook it.
I think Harris County has had enough Dick to last a lifetime.
Eric Dick, the Harris County Department of Education Trustee, who was fined by the Texas Ethics Commission $30,000 for various violations and was referred to the Texas Bar for possible disciplinary action, lost last night even though he wasn’t running.
His wife, Danielle Dick, was running for his position and lost. Danielle didn’t raise any money and didn’t file any reports because she said she would not raise/spend over $950. Obviously she didnt. She lost to Andrea Duhon and the HCDE will finally be free of Dicks.
In another race that took me by surprise because I didn’t know he was even running, Chris Carmona lost to Andrea Beall for District Judge, 185th Judicial District. Who is Chris Carmona you ask?
Chris Carmona is a lawyer in Houston. He’s not only a friend of Eric Dick, he represented Eric Dick in his formal hearing at the Texas Ethics Commission, the one where Dick was fined $30,000. The hearing was a train wreck for Carmona. Dick was subpoenaed to show at the hearing in person or by Zoom. He did neither. I watched/listened to the entire hearing and in my non-lawyer opinion it was an absolute disaster for Carmona. Carmona has run before, I believe it was for City Council, and he lost then too.
So maybe, just maybe, Harris County is done with Dick.
Seriously. It’s a question that needs to be asked and there is no easy way to ask it. What the flying fuck is wrong with you?
Nineteen children, ages 9-11, were slaughtered, some with their heads blown off, by an 18 year old who had easy access to military style assault weapons provided by Greg Abbott and yet you are STILL going to vote for him? What. The. Fuck? Before that shooting 10 kids lost their lives in another school in Sante Fe, and 25 in an El Paso Walmart, and 27 in a Sutherland Springs church, and 8 in the streets of Odessa. All lost their lives because Texas has the most lax laws in the country when it comes to guns and yet you have no fucking empathy for those affected, like the parents, those who will bear the mental scars forever, or those with lifelong physical injuries. No, you have to vote for Greg Abbott because you lack basic common sense, decency, and moral values. Don’t go to church to wash your fucking hands with holy water. Go to your fucked up church to ask your priest forgiveness so you won’t risk going to fucking hell.
In 2021 you suffered through a freeze that took hundreds of lives, cost billions in water damage, and left you huddled under a stack of fucking blankets and yet you are STILL going to vote for Greg Abbott and those who did that to you? How fucking hard is it to keep the goddamn lights and heat on in the “Energy Capitol of the World” and how fucking hard is it for you to just vote his crippled ass out of office and put people in who will actually fix the goddamn grid? What are you? Stupid?
But there is more. No one wants an abortion. No one is advocating for abortion, but in Texas it doesn’t matter anymore. It doesn’t matter if the fetus you are carrying, or your wife is carrying is viable, you have no choice but to carry it to term. It doesn’t matter if your 12 year old is pregnant from rape or incest. That child will be forced to have that child and all you have to do is ignore it and vote for the very person who will do this to you and your family. Besides the emotional stress of the entire situation there could be a huge financial impact that the family must endure but you don’t really care because, well it didn’t happen to you, so fuck em. Yeah. Well fuck you too.
And for you teachers and parents of school kids. How much is enough for you to finally take some kind of action? How much shit will you teachers take from the Karens at the school board claiming you are “indoctrinating” kids and who are trying to micromanage how you teach, what you wear, what you say? How much are you going to complain about cuts to education, your shitty retirement, your shitty benefits, your expensive healthcare, and your low class salary before you will get off your fat ass and vote the idiots out who have done this to you over the last 20 fucking years? (Yes Texas has been a republican state for 20 fuckin years)
And lets not leave out Latinos. What the fuck do you think the MAGAts think about you? The first thing they think is “Are you illegal? Do you speak English like you should? Are you sucking on the tit of Social Security?” You think you have a seat at the dinner table but they invited you because you ARE dinner. Have some goddamn dignity and cojones and vote these rotten racists bastards out of office. Show them that they cannot demonize people because of your color or your language or your heritage. For flying fucks sake do something beside rolling over. Act like a Latino.
And if you are gay or have a gay member of your family or have gay friends and you are STILL going to vote for the homophobe Abbott, well then just fuck you. Many times over. One of these days Abbott will target you and will will be begging like a little bitch for help from the very people you turned your back on.
I’d so tired of law enforcement whining about crime while they vote for the very people who have flooded our streets with guns pointed at police! You idiots. What the fuck is wrong with you? The guns are pointed at you! What is it going to take for you to realize guns are more important to the very people you vote for than law enforcement? These are the very people who bashed police in the head with flags on Jan 6. What the flying fuck is wrong with you?
Personally I am tired of fighting to make things better for teachers, the gay community, Latinos, women, police, and everyone in this state. If you can’t do one simple fucking thing to help your goddamn self and your fucked up family, then fuck you. You are on your own.
The time for screwing around is over. Beto needs to hammer Abbott, challenge his lies, and remind voters of his record.
In tonight‘s debate Beto should start every sentence with the following “you’ve been in office for eight years and yet you still haven’t accomplished anything on [the issue being discussed]”.
Beginning a sentence with this phrase can remind voters that after eight years Abbott is still complaining about immigration. You would think after 20 years of republican rule in the state he would’ve found a solution especially since they had a republican president and congress.
The cost of college education has skyrocketed. The cost of a home insurance and health insurance is also through the roof. After eight years of Abbott being governor our state brings up the bottom on education, teacher retirement, teacher healthcare, and quality of life. Texas is ranked number one for mass shootings. We are ranked number one in the number of rapes in the state. We are number one in the number of uninsured citizens.
Abbott has a record of incompetence and failure. Beto needs to say it. Over and over.
Take a close look at the local “leaders” Dennis Paul was bragging about.
It’s a bunch of white guys including State Senator Elect Money Mayes Middleton, State Representative Little Baby Briscoe Cain, State Representative Dennis Paul, and other white male leaders of the area.
Leaders of the area could have included State Representative Mary Ann Perez or Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia, or State Senator Carol Alvarado but since they were talking about legislation for 2023 they wouldn’t have fit in.
Most probably the white folks were going to talk about limiting the rights of minorities to vote, again. All of them are election deniers and have bordered on Qanon conspiracy theories. They believe trump wasn’t the loser he really is. In fact Little Baby Briscoe was found in Philadelphia helping with the stop the steal bullshit and Money Mayes Middleton is funding some of the wackos pushing election fraud.
They are also probably talking about limiting women’s rights, as if there is more they can do, like banning birth control, or limiting rights based upon their perverted religious beliefs. Women leaders would just screw up this discussion.
And they are probably discussing how they can get guns into the hands of everyone, including high school students, at school. These guys are on the side of the NRA and will do whatever it takes to support guns and bullets over girls and boys. If a few dead school kids have not changed their minds on gun safety then nothing will.
Maybe they are talking about how they can call Homeland Security on all of the illegal workers in the restaurants in Clear Lake and have them deported to Colorado and have a good conservative laugh about it.
