Texas Gov Greg Abbott. A State of Embarrassment
June 26, 2020All Texans needed was for Texas leaders to do just that, lead, and Gov Abbott has failed spectacularly in his response to the COVID virus.
All he had to do was to listen to the experts in the field and take necessary precautions. Instead he listened to the person who wanted to inject Americans with bleach and opened Texas back to business too soon. In return for his vest to please his president the State is now going back to a lockdown. Bars are now closed. Restaurants are scaling back. Harris County is now recommending a voluntary stay at home order.
All because Abbott wanted to look good with the president. Lives have been lost. Businesses have been closed. Texans have lost their jobs. Just because Abbott was afraid to stand up to Trump.
Well as the saying goes, we do things bigger in Texas including being the biggest embarrassment to the state and to the country. Abbott may want to cover his face with a mask to hide his shame.
Another republican losing their job over a tweet in Houston
June 24, 2020How stupid can trump people be? Ask the General Manager (or it might be the former GM this afternoon) of the Scrap Yard professional softball team out of the Woodlands. From Sports Illustrated:
During a game against USSSA Pride, another independent pro softball team, a tweet was posted on Scrap Yard’s Twitter account with a picture of players standing and the words, “Hey @realDonaldTrump Pro Fastpitch being played live @usssaspacecoast @USSSAPride Everyone respecting the FLAG!”
That post produced sharp retorts from Osterman and several other players as well as a Facebook repudiation of the tweet, which subsequently was deleted but archived by several Twitter users, by USSSA Pride.
Teneshia Hudspeth endorsed by Diana Trautman for County Clerk
June 23, 2020Teneshia Hudspeth the Chief Deputy Harris County Clerk has announced she is seeking the Democratic nomination for Harris County Clerk. I was hoping she was interested in running for this position. Diane Trautman had this to say:
The job oc county clerk is a huge responsibility and the person who assumes this office in November must be read to hit the ground running. Teneshia is that person and she will be ready to assume the duties on day one. There is no doubt that Teneshia has what it takes to run this office efficiently.
Well said. Precinct chairs will be voting for the nominee to be on the ballot in November.
Mocking Texas Gov Gregg Abbott's disability
June 22, 2020Republican say “This shouldn’t happen to me”. Democrats say “This shouldn’t happen to ANYONE.”
Gregg Abbott has some balls to be offended by being mocked for his disability by two staffers from Empower Texas caught on an open mic. From The Texas Tribune:
An Abbott spokesman denounced the comments by Cheshire and McDonald. “It reveals a lot about an organization’s character and morals that uses profanity to mock a person in a wheelchair, and this audio is disgusting and hate-filled,” Abbott spokesman John Wittman said in a statement. “It is sad to think about what else this group may be saying about people behind their backs when they think they aren’t being recorded.
Trump Campaign issues COVID guidelines for the Tulsa rally
June 17, 2020The Trump campaign has issued a set of guidelines in order to protect the freedom of supporters attending the rally scheduled for June 20 in Tulsa Oklahoma at the BOK Center. The Center holds about 20,000. Due to the size of the crowd and the indoor location the following guidelines should be followed by all attendees:
- Sign the waiver of liability prior to attending.
- Wearing a mask is optional. It is not needed.
- Social distancing will not be allowed. It is not needed.
- Remember the virus is a hoax. Act like it.
- If you are sick do not come to the event.
- If you are poor, do not come to the event.
- If you are Latino, do not come to the event.
- If you are Black, do not come to the event.
- If you are a person of color, do not come to the event.
- If you are poor, do not come to the event.
- If you are a police officer, do not come to the event.
- If you are a teacher, do not come to the event.
- If you are Muslim, do not come to the event.
- If you are not racist, do not come to the event.
Texas! We're Number 1 with 4400+ new COVID cases!
June 17, 2020This just cant be good. Harris County had 425 new cases today and 450 new cases yesterday. Texas had a total of 4400+ new cases of COVID, a new record as the state continues relaxing preventative measures. I do not believe this spike is due to the protests, yet. That will come later.
Meanwhile Greg Abbott continues to bury his head in the sand hoping the virus will magically disappear, ponies will roam free, and flying unicorns will fart COVID vaccines across the state. He is not only embarrassing, he is dangerous. A Trump on wheels.
How to avoid being labeled a racist (R)
June 13, 2020It really isn’t hard.
Since the killing of George Floyd there has been a rash of firing, suspensions, and removals from office because of racist comments or displays. Here in Harris County after posting a racist meme the Chair of the Republican Party resigned his position months before officially taking the office. He also lost his job with the City of Pasadena. He is just one of 6 other republican county chairs in Texas who have been asked to resign by the Governor or encouraged to resign for posting racist comments on Facebook.
Maybe the (R)s need a little training on how to avoid being labeled a racist (R). Here are some tips:
- Don’t be a racist. Racism is bad. Very bad. (it’s also 2020. You shouldn’t have to be told this.)
- Think before you post something on social media.
- If you think what you want to post might be considered racist, it probably is. Don’t post it.
- Don’t use racist slurs. You know what they are. Just don’t say them. Ever.
- Remember that social media and video are forever. They never go away. What you write or do might go viral and available for your next possible employer to find. No one will hire a racist.
- Don’t display racist symbols. That means take your confederate flag off your pick up truck before driving to work, unless you really are a racist. If you are a racist fly the flag so we know who you are. The Confederate flag is a flag for losers, literally and it has become a symbol of racism.
- And if you really have the urge to show your racism, do it in the comfort of your own home and using your inside your head voice.
NASCAR driver finds an excuse to leave NASCAR
June 12, 2020
Ray Ciccarelli is/was a NASCAR driver. NASCAR gave him the perfect excuse to leave the sport, banning the confederate flag from it’s properties. That includes the parking lot, the stands, the pits, and cars. Ciccarelli took a stand and has announced he is leaving. Up until now no one knew who he was. Much like what the confederate flag symbolizes, Ray wasn’t a winner.
Ray is what we call “filler” in sports. He was there to fill out the crowd on the track. No one wants to see a race between the top 10 drivers. A race with 20 or more is much more exciting. NASCAR gave Ray a great excuse to bow out of a sport he wasn’t very good at. I am sure NASCAR will miss him dearly.
If you ever been to a NASCAR race the confederate flag is everywhere. My first trip to a track included sitting behind a guy with a t-shirt that said “You fly yours, I’ll fly mine”. Whatever bitch.
Here is a quick video of Ray’s car catching fire. Luckily Ray was fine.
