TX Congressman Pete Olson's pre-existing condition

October 23, 2018

Many Texans have a pre-existing condition including Congressman Pete Olson from Sugarland.

During one of the very few town hall meetings Pete has had with his constituents he discussed how he fainted during a workout in the Capital gym. According to CNN:

“While working out in the House gym, I got quite dizzy and fainted,” Olson said in the note sent Friday by his campaign committee. “After being rushed to George Washington University Hospital, it was determined that I had a condition called bradycardia, which is medical talk for a slow heart beat. Whatever they call it, it wasn’t good and I don’t recommend it.”

Unlike Pete, most Texans will find their insurance that covers pre-existing conditions will be cut allowing the insurance company to raise premiums or opt not to cover your family in your time of need. Lucky for Pete his insurance, provided by the Federal Government, and paid by tax dollars has always covered pre-existing conditions and will alway cover them.

Pete is working hard to relieve the insurance industry from having to cover pre-existing conditions in your family while knowing his slow heart beat will always be covered. He and his family will always be covered and protected but if the lawsuit Pete supports lead by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is successful you family will not.

Pete also suffers from a condition called “cold hearted”.

No on Ed.

October 21, 2018

Ed Emmett meets most of the qualifications required for the office of County Judge. Most.

Emmett is the type of politician the Republican Party sorely needs in this country,  from City Council to the Presidency. You won’t find Emmett inviting a camera crew to his office to have a discussion with a country western singer. He won’t be having a fit of knee jerk reactions on every social issue facing the county. He won’t be saying anything racist or commenting about the good people in the White Supremacist organizations carrying Tiki torches. He won’t resort to calling his political opponents awful names names unfit for discussion at the dinner table.
Instead, Emmett “hunkers down”, performs the job he was elected to do, keeps his divisive opinions to himself (if he has any) and actually acts like an elected official who respects the fact he has the title of “The Honorable” in front of his name. Voters should demand this from every elected official and candidate. It serves the voters well. It helps bring the community together and creates the opportunity for voters and constituents to actually listen to and trust our elected officials during times of need such as a hurricane or massive flooding.
Emmett has performed his official duties and his responsibilities well but has failed on moral leadership. Americans across all levels of government are begging elected officials to stand up and act like human beings when it comes to “family values”. On this Emmett has failed. As the leader of the Republican party in Harris County he has failed to lead his party away from this awful, angry, racist, mentality brought to a head by Dan Patrick, Sid Miller, Ted Cruz  and Donald Trump. He has failed to speak out forcefully about racist comments made by the leaders of his party. He has failed to speak out against separating children from mothers looking for asylum in the United States. He has failed to tell the members of his party and the leadership of his party to simply “knock it off”. Instead he hunkered down, in the corner, out of sight of the cameras, out of sight of the daily controversies, and out of sight of the angry, racist, mob that now dominates the Republican Party.
Emmett had the opportunity to restore his party to what it once was, a party that campaigned on “Family values” instead of family separation. A party that embraced facts and figures instead of deception, dishonesty and lies. A party that respected the rule of law instead of ignoring the law based upon who rules. He had the opportunity to stop his party from further moral erosion when their leader mocked a disabled American or a woman debate moderator. He had the opportunity to use his leadership to stop his party from unleashing angry, hateful attacks on Hispanics, Muslims, teachers, women, civil servants, the disabled, the gay community, and other constituents. Instead he sat quietly in the corner. This is a failure by Judge Emmett of moral leadership.
Judge Emmett should be commended for performing his job without unnecessary fanfare and yelling into the cameras when opportunity arises, but when it comes to moral leadership of his party he has been hunkered down in a corner quiet as a mouse.

I nailed it: Republicans announce they are coming for Social Security

October 19, 2018

This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

By Tom Toles of the Washington Post

From a previous post:

So now with a newly created $1.5 Trillion hole in the budget created by the trump tax plan, look for massive cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Education, Environment Protection.

The Republican Party has just announce their intentions of cutting so called “entitlements” the services and benefits Americans are entitled to receive because they have paid for them! They have called for cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and you won’t believe why they claim this is necessary. Here is Mitch McConnell:

“It’s disappointing, but it’s not a Republican problem,” McConnell said of the deficit, which grew 17 percent to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018. McConnell explained to Bloomberg that “it’s a bipartisan problem: Unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future.” The deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015.

Yep. The tax cuts for the rich have created a $1 trillion deficit. This was expected. All economists predicted the cuts would benefit the top 1% and major stock holders. They predicted a huge deficit. And I predicted cuts to Social Security just like what happened here in Texas.

Creating a hole in the budget was all part of the republican plan because it would eventually justify massive cuts to education and services. Texas, by law, requires a balanced budget so what better way to cut education than to create a massive debt then blame the “out of control spending” by the public education community? And that is exactly what happened. Someone had to pay for the tax cuts for the business community so Education was hit by over $5 Billion in just the first year.

This was all part of the plan.

Loaning Campaign Cash: Texas State Rep Patrick Fallon

October 18, 2018

This is getting to be a pattern for republicans in Texas.

Much like Kathleen Wall’s failed $6 Million attempt at buying a seat in Congress and David Mays Middleton’s $2 million attempt to buy a seat in Austin, State Representative Patrick Fallon is trying his hand at spending his own money to win a Senate seat.

In his report filed before the primary Fallon has raised a whooping $2 Million but, once again, looking a bit closer that included $1.8 Million from his own pocket. He started with $217,000 and the only raised $2800. He currently still owes $1Million on his personal loan and has $135,000 cash on hand.

90% of all the money Fallon has raised has come from his own fortunes. Fallon, like trump, is rich and will use his money to get what he wants. He is also running on the same racist platform as trump. Fallon claims to be a “fiscal” conservative ready to spend his own money to buy his own seat at our table.

Maybe that is the only way republicans can win any more. Like Sid Miller maybe Texans don’t want to give to people who are racists or who support racists.

Raising Campaign Cash: Senator Konni Burton

October 16, 2018

Konni Burton is in a good competitive fight for her seat in the Texas Senate. That is probably why the big guns have come out in her fundraising defense.

According to her latest financial reports Burton raised an impressive $1,055,000 over the last 3 months but look closer. $938,000 came from just 1 individual and 4 PACs. Dan Patrick contributed $40,000. Texans for Lawsuit Deform donated $333,000. Empower Texas $250,000. $40,000 from Texas Realtor PAC. And here is the kicker: $250,000 from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility PAC.

So Konni Burton raises 89% of her million dollars from 4 PACs including one that advocates for “Fiscal Responsibility”. Yeah right. Its like taking money from a condom manufacturer for abstinence only policies. There is nothing fiscally responsible about funding your campaign with PAC money.

$1,036,400 comes from donations of $1000 or more, 98% of her entire fundraising. She also has an outstanding loan from her husband for a total of $240,000. Her loan totals $295,000.

Texas Congressman Brian Babin on NASA. Lost in space.

October 16, 2018

Texas Congressman Brian Babin has finally realized he is in a race to keep his job. He started a twitter account and he is posting on Facebook, even though he is factually incorrect. From his latest concerning NASA:

With the Russian Soyuz spacecraft grounded indefinitely and no other options available, American astronauts now have no way to get to the ISS.

And/Or DUH! Babin has been lost in space ever since being elected to Congress. He has neglected the agency until this year, touring NASA/JSC with others afraid of losing their jobs, like Ted Cruz. He has spent less time working for NASA than John Culberson whose district is in Katy. Under Babin’s watch NASA/JSC lost a Shuttle as a museum piece. Major integration and test facilities were sent to other states. He has been working hard to take NASA’s money and distribute it to others, others as in non-Texans.

The retirement of the Shuttle was under his party’s watch. George Bush signed the bill, authored by then Republican Senator from Texas Kay Bailey Hutchinson. The agreement to ride with the Russians was their idea. Babin has supported it ever since.
Until he found himself in a race for his job. As with all mishaps, the cause of the problem with the Russian vehicle must be found and corrected before another flight. Space flight is dangerous and should never be rushed. We knew those risks when President Bush signed the bill.
Besides shooting his mouth off, Babin has a $1 Trillion deficit to deal with. One that his party created. We really have no extra money for Space exploration.

Left with Egg on his face Texas Congressman Pete Olson

October 15, 2018

Texas Congressman Pete Olson CD22 isn’t as conservative as one might think. Just because you have an R behind your name doesn’t mean you are a Conservative. In the case of Pete Olson it means Conspiracy. Even the Houston Chronicle stated:

He has pandered to bizarre conspiracy theories on talk radio and inaccurately claimed that Pakistan was responsible for the terrorist attacks on 9/11 — it wasn’t.

But there is more. For instance….

No Prayers at Military Funerals
In 2011 Olson fell for the fake conspiracy concerning the National Cemetery not allowing prayers at a funeral for a veteran.  According to his press release:

“Recent media reports raising concerns with alleged censorship of certain words during funeral services at Houston National Cemetery are deeply troubling.

Unfortunately his “media reports” came from breitbart and Michael Berry, the white wing radio host of Houston. It wasn’t true. Olson went on to file various religious freedom legislation that died on the House floor.

Health care stunt
In his only town hall meeting held in LaMarque back in 2009, Olson was taped using a woman and her son as props in a failed attempt to warn about the Affordable Care Act. He described how the private insurance industry and private hospitals and private medical doctors turned down a treatment for her son. She eventually received the care (provided by government provided healthcare) but Olson went on to claim that under the government’s Affordable Care Act, she would have been turned down.

Someone (me) with a camera yelled “THE GOVERNMENT DIDN’T TURN HER DOWN! THE PRIVATE SECTOR DID!”. Olson looked like a deer caught in the head lights of a truck. His look of stupidity earned him a spot on Keith Olberman.

Nobel Peace Prize
Pete Olson was one of a few Congressman including conspiracy darling Louie Gohmert and Brian Babin and a dozen of The Who the Hell are You club to nominate Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for his photo op with Kim Jun Un. Even his photo op was a disaster.

Honoring James O’Keefe III
Olson was on the floor of our House introducing a resolution to honor Jame O’Keefe. O’Keefe secretly recorded actions by ACORN, an organization dedicated to helping low income people. O’Keefe’s video was later found to be heavily doctored and false. According to his press release:

Rep. Pete Olson today introduced a resolution in honor of Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III for their diligent investigative journalism exposing the fraudulent and potentially illegal activities of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN.

O’Keefe was eventually sued, issued an apology, and paid a settlement leaving Pete Olson with egg on his face.

Space Shuttle
And while Olson was busy chasing conspiracy theories his district lost out on a Space Shuttle berth at Space Center Houston. If there was one place a Shuttle should have been placed as a museum piece, it was here in Houston. Once again Olson failed leaving egg on our face.

Raising Campaign Cash: Stan Stanart

October 12, 2018

Not much to see here folks.

Stan Stanart the Harris County Clerk is the guy who can’t seem to do the one job he was assigned, that is to run the elections in the 3rd largest county in the country efficiently. He can’t seem to raise money either.

In his last report he has raised about $26,000 from 17 individuals, but $17,000 came from just 5 individuals who are out of the county. This includes $5000 from Colorado and another $5000 from Kathleen Wall, the lady who spent $6 Million of her own money in a losing effort to win a seat in Congress.

And that is it. Not a lot to be smiling about. #FireStanStanart
