Dumping USAA. So easy a caveman did it!

February 24, 2020

I saved $3000/year by switching from USAA.

I’ve been with USAA since 1981 for my auto insurance and for about 25 years for my home. Ever since 2003 when the state deregulated the insurance industry my insurance premium has increased with no end in sight. The last increase in 2020 was 25% and that did it for me.

I eventually went with GEICO for auto, saving $1000/year with the same coverage. My home insurance was provided by an agent and was reduced to $2000 for a savings of $2000/year. As I have said before:

USAA claims to “support the troops” and to be loyal to those who served and their families. It’s hard to believe when you receive an increase of 25% after being a loyal customer who paid their premiums on time and had only 1 claim in 11 years.

So screw them.

The socialists of Justice Democrats dwindling endorsements

February 23, 2020

If you really think a socialist can run and win outside of a deep, deep, blue area, you might want to look at their record of losing. I have and it is a clear indication how Bernie will do if nominated. BTW America is not a deep, deep, blue area.

Justice Democrats is a group founded by the far left, socialist, group called The Young Turks. From Wikipedia:

Justice Democrats is an American progressive political action committee founded on January 23, 2017, by Kyle Kulinski of Secular TalkCenk Uygur of The Young Turks, and Saikat Chakrabarti and Zack Exley, former leaders from the 2016 Bernie Sanders presidential campaign….The organization formed as a result of the 2016 United States presidential election and has a stated goal of reforming the Democratic Party by running “a unified campaign to replace every corporate-backed member of Congress” and rebuilding the Democratic Party “from scratch” starting in the 2018 congressional midterm elections.[6][7]

Last election they endorsed 80 candidates to take over the Democratic Party. 73 of them lost. 7 won in deep, deep, blue districts. This year based upon their poor performance and lack of winning they are endorsing only 9 candidates, plus the 7 that won last time. From a previous post, “Justice Democrats’ record of losing elections”:

Based upon their lack of success in the 2018 elections, Justice Democrats should be the last group to find a candidate to challenge Cuellar, if a challenge is warranted. Out of 80 candidates endorsed by JD, only 7 won. 2 were incumbents in deep blue districts. 1 was unopposed.  4 were all in very blue districts wiping out their general election opponents. It’s not like they were endorsing in tough competitive states like Texas, although those that did, lost. All of them. One raised over a $1 Million and lost 70-30 in the primary.

That is a huge drop off. Maybe candidates are realizing being associated with socialism is about as popular as herpes at a hot tub party. In Texas Justice Democrats endorsed Jessica Cisneros running against Cuellar. Cuellar should be replaced but with a socialist?

Vote Blue No Matter Who doesn't work.

February 18, 2020

Vote Blue No Matter Who might work on those of us who are long time Democrats or those that lean left at the polls because what we have in office now is a rotten excuse for a human being. Unfortunately it will not work for those that matter, the independents looking for a common sense alternative.

Independents are just looking for a common sense middle of the road alternative to the rotten bastard in office now. They are willing to vote blue no matter who unless…..it’s a socialist. We Democrats might hold our noses and vote for a socialist claiming to vote blue no matter who, but independents won’t. Give them a sane alternative to Trump and they will be onboard. Give them a choice between a socialist or a republican and they will stay home, bury their heads in their hands, and wonder what the living hell happened to our Party.

So, bernie bros need to quit with the Vote Blue No Matter Who crap. Sanders is not blue. He is not a Democrat. He never has been a Democrat. He never will be a Democrat. He will never represent our Party. The Independents we are trying to court will abandon us in November just like Bernie and his bros did in 2016. As I have said in the past:

So lets give Sanders the credit he is due and addressing him appropriately. Bernie Sanders is an independent socialist running as a Democrat in the Democratic primary.

In defense of Sanders. He is not a Democratic Socialist.

February 18, 2020

A “democratic socialist” is just like a “conservative republican” or a unicorn. They don’t exist.

Sanders calls himself a democratic socialist yet he has never been a Democrat and he will never be a Democrat. He has been a a socialist running as an independent his entire political career. Now he is an Independent socialist running as a Democrat.

In 2016 after losing the primary he quickly reverted back to his socialist party built up by his presidential run. He has funded “Justice Democrats” a socialist organization pushing extreme fair left candidates in the Democratic primaries and losing. As I said before:

Out of 80 candidates endorsed by JD, only 7 won. 2 were incumbents in deep blue districts. 1 was unopposed.  4 were all in very blue districts wiping out their general election opponents. It’s not like they were endorsing in tough competitive states like Texas, although those that did, lost. All of them. One raised over a $1 Million and lost 70-30 in the primary.

The DNC made another mistake in this primary season allowing Sanders and his socialists to invade our party and they are invading here in Harris County too. Audia Jones is one of a couple of socialist candidates running for District Attorney in Harris, Travis, Bexar, and Tarrant County. Her husband is already a sitting Judge. There are others such as the challenger to Henry Cuellar. According to the Texas Tribune:

Justice Democrats, a political committee founded after the 2016 election to reshape the Democratic Party through primary challenges, is working to recruit a challenger to Rep. Henry Cuellar, a seven-term congressman from a strongly Democratic district who’s one of the few anti-abortion-rights voices in the party’s House conference.

So lets give Sanders the credit he is due and addressing him appropriately. Bernie Sanders is an independent socialist running as a Democrat in the Democratic primary. There is no in-between. You are either a Democrat or a socialist. Pick one.

Texas Congressional candidate sued for defamation

February 13, 2020

This just can’t be good for Texas Congressional District 22 Candidate Nyanza Moore especially since she will be on the debate stage this Saturday with her opponent and the plaintiff of a defamation suit against her.

CD22 has 2 outstanding candidates running in the Democratic Primary, Sri Preston Kulkarni and Derrick Reed. Nyanza Moore is a “progressive” political commentator on FOX-26 Houston’s “What’s Your Point,” and entered the race early this year. Nyanza has recently posted some nasty attacks against Council Member Reed on Facebook. I only heard about the attacks and didn’t think more of it until yesterday. They are truly nasty attacks. Turns out Reed isn’t playing with the allegations, Nyanza, or her friends and has filed suit against Nyanza Moore and Friends of Nyanza Moore.

Nyanza entered the race against an established and hard working candidate Sri Preston Kulkarni. Sri has boots on the ground and a campaign structure in place already. Nyanza cannot raise adequate funds to build her campaign. She was out raised 10-1. She has made comments about the gay community that were not appreciated and her friends accused a group of racism when she was not recommended for endorsement. (I was on the end of that accusation)

So now Nyanza faces a suit in Brazoria County and will have the opportunity to back up her attacks with facts.

Raising Campaign Cash: Commissioner Pct 3 Candidates

February 5, 2020

Michael Moore leads the field in money raised and cash on hand. I could not find any reports for Zaher Eisa. It just boggles the hell out of me. How can you possibly run a race for County Commissioner if you cannot or will not raise money? Money isn’t everything but you cannot get your message out if you do not have funds for literature, exposure, etc.

Commissioner Pct 3
Michael Moore $199,052 $209,391 $13,248 $0
Kristi Thibaut $45,761 $51,180 $4,536 $5,000
Morris Overstreet $15,925 $17,950 $2,025 $0
Diana Martinez $6,507 $9,425 $1,013 $0
Zaher Eisa $0 $0 $0 $0
Erik Hasson $0 $750 $4,442 $4,442

USAA increases home insurance by 25%

February 5, 2020

I’ve been with USAA insurance for over 25 years. That ends today.

USAA claims to “support the troops” and to be loyal to those who served and their families. It’s hard to believe when you receive an increase of 25% after being a loyal customer who paid their premiums on time and had only 1 claim in 11 years.

Back in 2003 the great Republican Party reformed the insurance industry to allow more competition and remove those pesky restrictions set by the State. Insurance premiums have since skyrocketed. USAA took complete advantage of the reforms. (See below) My premiums have risen according to the chart below. After 2015 the premiums seemed to have stabilized. Looking for a competitive alternative was not easy and I eventually stayed with USAA not willing to risk a new company. It was easy to stay with USAA. So easy a caveman could do it. I did. That ends today.

I’m done with USAA. On the bright side they create a Subscriber Savings Account for every new member. After 25 years that account grew and I will be able to cash it out when I leave. It will fund a very nice trip to Italy.

Arrivederci USAA!

Sander's volunteers: He isn't a Democrat

February 3, 2020

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat. Never has been. Never will be. He joined the party in 2016 just to run under the Democratic banner and to use the resources the party built and the donors paid for. Its typical Bernie.

Bernie’s volunteers are at least honest about his affiliation with the Democratic Party. They continue to be dishonest about his popularity and some of this policies. Claiming that Bernie is popular when all he could get was 35% of the Democratic vote in Texas is stretching it. Maybe they polled people in New Hampshire.

When asked if he was a Democrat the answer was clear. From a text msg:

Bernie is an independent socialist. He was allowed to infiltrate our party bringing a cult like following that will all tuck tail, whine, and quit once he loses the nomination. Again. Like Trump he could damage the party for decades.
