Republican election worker wears NRA hat at polls in Clear Lake

October 29, 2018

It really just pisses me off.

I may have said the g–damn word maybe 5 times in my entire life. Today was one of them. I walked up to vote in Clear Lake today to take advantage of the short line. The person giving out instructions on what was needed to vote was wearing an NRA hat. It might has well been a MAGAt hat.

I looked at him and simply said “Take that g–damn hat off!”. I then had a very long discussion with the presiding judge who has the authority to tell him to either leave or take off the hat. I had to remind her that 11 human beings were shot less than 48 hours ago. I had to remind her that a gun nut had taken the lives of 11 Jewish Americans with an AR-15. I told her she had the authority to tell him to leave or to take the hat off. She defended him until I told her I would file a complaint and bring the media. (if they would come)

She agreed to tell him to take it off….until she could talk to Stan Stanart, her boss. I bet this asshole of man will put it back on. She claimed it was illegal. I told her that farting in a crowded elevator was legal but it was extremely disrespectful.

What part of being an asshole do republicans not understand? BTW both are right wing republicans.

Will Latinos vote or sit at the kids table?

October 29, 2018

In late 2016 two kids yelled “BUILD THE WALL” at a Mexican-American driving an old pick up truck loaded with tree debris. It took a minute to understand why.

What will it take for the Latino community to take their seat at their own table and stop these racially motivated comments?  Historically the Latino community, as a whole, does not vote its strength unlike the Black community, the Muslim community, or the White community. No matter who runs or what they run on we just don’t vote. We accept a seat at the Thanksgiving kids table without a fight. It’s disappointing. It’s embarrassing. It’s lazy.
The Latino apologist claim the Democrats don’t reach out to us, they don’t recognize our needs or offer us a ride to the polls serving coffee and donuts. They say “If we don’t vote, you don’t win” and yet we still don’t vote. This year we have no excuses. If there are problems with reaching out let’s take our seats at our table and raise that issue. Until then the Latino community needs to quit making excuses for those of us who will not vote.
The community has good reason to vote. The current president and his party does not reflect the values of the Latino community. We believe in family values not family separation. We appreciate good jobs with fair pay. We want the ability to afford medical treatment for our sick children without having to declare bankruptcy. And we do not appreciate the hatred directed at those who look like us.
The Republican Party has directed vile comments towards “illegal aliens”, those who have brown skin and who speak Spanish. They called them rapists, murderers, and gang members. They have demonized the language calling for us to speak “Merican”. They make wild claims about terror babies and when confronted about their comments they use the excuse of “We are only talking about illegals”.
Well, those “illegals” look like us. They talk like us. They eat like us. These unnecessary, racist, attacks against them are wrong and they rub off on us. Yet we, as a community, sit back and do nothing about it.
The members of the Republican Party continue to attack Latinos for good reason. We don’t vote. We don’t hold them accountable. If we, as a united community, got off the couch, stood in line and voted, no candidate, no political activist, and no elected official of either party would ever question our language, our heritage, or the color of our skin for fear of being run out of office and out of our Country.
If there was ever a time to take our seat at our own table it is now. The hatred towards the Latino community must stop. The angry, racist, dog whistles turned into angry bullhorns must stop. And the only way to do this is to take what is rightfully ours by exercising our right to vote, perform our duty as Americans, claim our seat at our table, and tell them to shut the hell up.
BTW. My truck blew a head gasket. I had to sell it.

Why do you have to be a dick about everything: Stan Stanart

October 29, 2018

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart has joined Louie Gohmert, Sid Miller, and Donald trump in the “Why do you have to be a dick about everything?” club.

Stan Stanart was elected back in 2010 during the tea bagger take over. He has only one job, that is to run the elections in Harris County and he has pretty much sucked at it. (actually he has more than one job but the one he sucks at is the most notable) He is all in for trump. He fully supports a racist, a liar, a rotten human being as the leader of his party and the country. And he just can’t get away from the republican tactic of fear mongering. From the Houston Chronicle:

Stanart’s use of George Soros-related fear-mongering on his campaign website also brings an unnecessary tinge of partisanship to his office and panders to anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. His site says that the Jewish Hungarian billionaire “wants to control Harris County Elections” — a bizarre and inaccurate claim. Stanart told us it was based on a rumor that later turned out to be untrue, but he never changed the website.

Even after the shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue which killed 11 people and wounded 4 police officers, Stanart has refused to change the content on his website. This goes beyond fear mongering. It goes beyond running a hard campaign. This is just another republican, Stan Stanart, being a racist, rotten, dick about everything.

Begging for Campaign Cash: Tx Ag Commissioner Sid Miller

October 24, 2018

In the word of Donald Trump: SAD!

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is begging for donations and for good reason. He has an outstanding loan of $195,000 and he has no credible fundraising capability. From a former post:

Miller only has 13 donors and 2 pledges of $15,000 including $10,000 from Drayton McClane, former owner of the Houston Astros. His total loans dating back to 2012 $750,000 came from 3 individuals,

Miller has a problem. First, he is a Texas sized jackass. Even the Texas Farm Bureau will not endorse him for fear of getting kicked in the what nots by their wives. Like Ted Cruz nobody likes Sid Miller and nobody is giving him money except for his 13 buddies. It’s obviously drying up so he is begging for dollars.

The reality of the situation is expensive. If Miller loses his bid for re-election it will be very hard to have a fundraiser to pay off his debts. If he loses he will be as popular as herpes at a hot tub party. No one will go to his fundraiser. No one will give him money. He will be stuck with a $195,000 loan.

This is what happens when you are a Texas sized jackass.

TX Congressman Pete Olson's pre-existing condition

October 23, 2018

Many Texans have a pre-existing condition including Congressman Pete Olson from Sugarland.

During one of the very few town hall meetings Pete has had with his constituents he discussed how he fainted during a workout in the Capital gym. According to CNN:

“While working out in the House gym, I got quite dizzy and fainted,” Olson said in the note sent Friday by his campaign committee. “After being rushed to George Washington University Hospital, it was determined that I had a condition called bradycardia, which is medical talk for a slow heart beat. Whatever they call it, it wasn’t good and I don’t recommend it.”

Unlike Pete, most Texans will find their insurance that covers pre-existing conditions will be cut allowing the insurance company to raise premiums or opt not to cover your family in your time of need. Lucky for Pete his insurance, provided by the Federal Government, and paid by tax dollars has always covered pre-existing conditions and will alway cover them.

Pete is working hard to relieve the insurance industry from having to cover pre-existing conditions in your family while knowing his slow heart beat will always be covered. He and his family will always be covered and protected but if the lawsuit Pete supports lead by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is successful you family will not.

Pete also suffers from a condition called “cold hearted”.

No on Ed.

October 21, 2018

Ed Emmett meets most of the qualifications required for the office of County Judge. Most.

Emmett is the type of politician the Republican Party sorely needs in this country,  from City Council to the Presidency. You won’t find Emmett inviting a camera crew to his office to have a discussion with a country western singer. He won’t be having a fit of knee jerk reactions on every social issue facing the county. He won’t be saying anything racist or commenting about the good people in the White Supremacist organizations carrying Tiki torches. He won’t resort to calling his political opponents awful names names unfit for discussion at the dinner table.
Instead, Emmett “hunkers down”, performs the job he was elected to do, keeps his divisive opinions to himself (if he has any) and actually acts like an elected official who respects the fact he has the title of “The Honorable” in front of his name. Voters should demand this from every elected official and candidate. It serves the voters well. It helps bring the community together and creates the opportunity for voters and constituents to actually listen to and trust our elected officials during times of need such as a hurricane or massive flooding.
Emmett has performed his official duties and his responsibilities well but has failed on moral leadership. Americans across all levels of government are begging elected officials to stand up and act like human beings when it comes to “family values”. On this Emmett has failed. As the leader of the Republican party in Harris County he has failed to lead his party away from this awful, angry, racist, mentality brought to a head by Dan Patrick, Sid Miller, Ted Cruz  and Donald Trump. He has failed to speak out forcefully about racist comments made by the leaders of his party. He has failed to speak out against separating children from mothers looking for asylum in the United States. He has failed to tell the members of his party and the leadership of his party to simply “knock it off”. Instead he hunkered down, in the corner, out of sight of the cameras, out of sight of the daily controversies, and out of sight of the angry, racist, mob that now dominates the Republican Party.
Emmett had the opportunity to restore his party to what it once was, a party that campaigned on “Family values” instead of family separation. A party that embraced facts and figures instead of deception, dishonesty and lies. A party that respected the rule of law instead of ignoring the law based upon who rules. He had the opportunity to stop his party from further moral erosion when their leader mocked a disabled American or a woman debate moderator. He had the opportunity to use his leadership to stop his party from unleashing angry, hateful attacks on Hispanics, Muslims, teachers, women, civil servants, the disabled, the gay community, and other constituents. Instead he sat quietly in the corner. This is a failure by Judge Emmett of moral leadership.
Judge Emmett should be commended for performing his job without unnecessary fanfare and yelling into the cameras when opportunity arises, but when it comes to moral leadership of his party he has been hunkered down in a corner quiet as a mouse.

I nailed it: Republicans announce they are coming for Social Security

October 19, 2018

This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

By Tom Toles of the Washington Post

From a previous post:

So now with a newly created $1.5 Trillion hole in the budget created by the trump tax plan, look for massive cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Education, Environment Protection.

The Republican Party has just announce their intentions of cutting so called “entitlements” the services and benefits Americans are entitled to receive because they have paid for them! They have called for cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and you won’t believe why they claim this is necessary. Here is Mitch McConnell:

“It’s disappointing, but it’s not a Republican problem,” McConnell said of the deficit, which grew 17 percent to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018. McConnell explained to Bloomberg that “it’s a bipartisan problem: Unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future.” The deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015.

Yep. The tax cuts for the rich have created a $1 trillion deficit. This was expected. All economists predicted the cuts would benefit the top 1% and major stock holders. They predicted a huge deficit. And I predicted cuts to Social Security just like what happened here in Texas.

Creating a hole in the budget was all part of the republican plan because it would eventually justify massive cuts to education and services. Texas, by law, requires a balanced budget so what better way to cut education than to create a massive debt then blame the “out of control spending” by the public education community? And that is exactly what happened. Someone had to pay for the tax cuts for the business community so Education was hit by over $5 Billion in just the first year.

This was all part of the plan.

Loaning Campaign Cash: Texas State Rep Patrick Fallon

October 18, 2018

This is getting to be a pattern for republicans in Texas.

Much like Kathleen Wall’s failed $6 Million attempt at buying a seat in Congress and David Mays Middleton’s $2 million attempt to buy a seat in Austin, State Representative Patrick Fallon is trying his hand at spending his own money to win a Senate seat.

In his report filed before the primary Fallon has raised a whooping $2 Million but, once again, looking a bit closer that included $1.8 Million from his own pocket. He started with $217,000 and the only raised $2800. He currently still owes $1Million on his personal loan and has $135,000 cash on hand.

90% of all the money Fallon has raised has come from his own fortunes. Fallon, like trump, is rich and will use his money to get what he wants. He is also running on the same racist platform as trump. Fallon claims to be a “fiscal” conservative ready to spend his own money to buy his own seat at our table.

Maybe that is the only way republicans can win any more. Like Sid Miller maybe Texans don’t want to give to people who are racists or who support racists.
