Republican Racist Rhetoric: Texas Congressman Chip "Racist" Roy, #NoPlaceButTexas

March 20, 2021

#NoPlaceButTexas

They are out in the open. The once great Republican Party that believed in simple family values such as respect and honor now is just a bunch of racist, rotten assholes led by Trump. They are not even trying to cover it up.

Last week it was Senator Ron Johnson claiming he wasn’t afraid of the white patriots who were storming the capitol, attacking police, and looking to hang Mike Pence. He wasn’t afraid as he ran like a coward with others like Ted Cruz. But he would have been afraid if the same rioters were Black. Dude, that is just racist.

Now coming off that racist rhetoric Texas Congressman Chip “Racist” Roy piles on with his comments towards the Asian American Community. Racist Roy can’t act like an adult and wear a mask appropriately in order to protect others around him and he had to to bring up lynching in a hearing to address hate crimes directed to the AAPI. Maybe someone needs to remind him that lynching was used as hillbilly justice towards everyone except the white folk.

This is who they are. #RacistRoy From CNN:

Calling for the resignation of Houston City Councilman Greg Travis

December 31, 2020

City Council Members
Houston City Council
Houston, Texas

Reference: Calling for CM Travis to resign

Councilmembers,

CM Travis racist and inappropriate comments on Facebook towards women and people of color cannot be ignored.

This is no longer an issue about CM Travis. We now know exactly who he is. He has told us. Now it is time for you to tell us who you are and whether you will tolerate his racist remarks and take no action. Over the last 5 years racists across the country have responded to the dog whistles from our elected officials and more and more are coming out with racist comments because there are no consequences for their actions. Now one has come out on City Council. That needs to stop. Now!

I hope you will demand his resignation even though he will not, then demand an apology even though he has refused, then censure him, and then remove him from his committee assignments. This will send a strong, clear signal to anyone running for city council that racism and inappropriate comments will not ever be tolerated. Not know. Not ever.

For the so called “conservatives” on city council, let me remind you that racism is not a conservative value. Neither is making fun of a disabled person, or having sex with a porn star while married, or calling elected officials childish names, or lying, cheating, stealing. Over the last 5 years conservative values have been left in the gutter with excuses like “I don’t agree with his racist comments, but I like my 401K” or “I don’t agree with his racist comments, but I like how he advocates for the dog shelters”.  If you call yourself a conservative, then act like one, for once.

Due to term limits many of you have nothing to lose calling for his resignation, except your dignity. Others will have to answer for their lack of action during endorsement screenings next year. How will you respond to the question “What action did you take when confronted with a racist in City Council?”.

As a father of a successful professional daughter who is a woman of color I am extremely upset about CM Travis comments. I sincerely hope you will start the new year right by taking decisive action and demanding Councilmember Greg Travis to resign. I also hope you will respond with what you intend to do.

Better late than never: Harris County Republican Party Chair resigns.

November 30, 2020

It should have taken this long. From the Houston Chronicle:

Harris County Republican Party Chairman Keith Nielsen resigned Monday, the party’s secretary confirmed, ending a brief tenure dogged by his social media post that displayed a Martin Luther King Jr. quote next to a banana.

Yep, I’m not sure how anyone could have possibly thought that a meme with a banana next to a quote from Martin Luther King Jr wasn’t racist. I gave my thoughts when it happened. Maybe he was making a fruit salad when BOOM an MLK quote popped up in his face and distributed on social media. Whatever he was thinking at the time resulted in him getting fired from his job with Pasadena.

He decided to dick it out as chair instead of resigning prior to the election. Since then his party lost every seat in Harris County except for one. According to the Texas Ethics Commission his party is near broke, and they have become as popular as herpes at a hot tub party.

So, he has left the building hopefully taking all of his extreme right wing, conspiracy theorists with him. Good riddance. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Why? Houston Firefighter Union President attending Super Spreader event

October 31, 2020

You have to wonder what the hell Patrick “Marty” Lancton the President of the Houston Firefighters Union is thinking.

The Harris County Republican Party is advertising a rally at the Bayou Event Center in Houston this Sunday. Lancton is one of the featured speakers. He might want to reconsider his participation. He should be reminded that the chair, Keith Nielsen, posted a racist meme after the killing of George Floyd. For this he lost his job as the Pasadena Planning Commissioner and many have asked him to resign including Congressman Crenshaw, Brady, McCaul, Lt Governor Patrick, and 149 members of the Executive Committee.

The event has attracted The Who’s Who of Who’s Dat including Miss Venezuela 1994. The lead attraction is a congressman from Galveston county. So far none of the other republicans running in the area are willing to share the stage or the meme with Nielsen.

You have to wonder what Lancton’s thought process is. He is the president of the firefighters union representing a diverse group of men and women in one of the most diverse cities in the country. He has no business associating with the chair who has this racist stain in his past.

I’ve asked for a comment from the Union’s Communications Director.

Harris County republicans embrace disgraced County Chair Kieth Nielsen

September 1, 2020

Well no one saw that coming.

The Harris County Republican Party officials embraced their new chair, Kieth Nielsen. Nielsen was asked by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to resign his seat before officially accepting the position for his racist post concerning a Martin Luther King quote. That racist quote cost him his position as the Planning Commissioner of Pasadena. He also claimed he would not accept the position, one he had just recently won.

When Dan Patrick calls for you to resign, whatever you did must be really, really, bad, like racist bad. Patrick is the low life of the Republican Party and when he is calling for you to resign, you might want to consider doing something different with your meme generating skills. Dan Crenshaw also called for Nielsen to resign. He told him to fuck off.

Nielen was eventually sworn in. And the executive committee welcomed him even after over 100 chairs wrote to him thanking him for not taking the position. He lied to them. This is the new Republican Party. This is who they have become. They tolerate racism. They tolerate those who promote racism.  It starts at the top.

Louie Gohmert. The Texas Aggie Joke

July 30, 2020

It’s karma. It’s deserving. It’s almost funny, if it wasn’t so serious. From the Houston Chronicle:

U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, has tested positive for the new coronavirus, Politico and ABC News confirmed Wednesday morning.

Gohmert, who spends ample time on the U.S. House floor without a mask, was one of several Texas officials scheduled to fly to West Texas this afternoon with President Donald Trump, Politico reported. He reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 during a pre-screen at the White House.

Gohmert is a bad Aggie Joke. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1975, was in the Corps of Cadets, and a Brigade Commander. He was able to win his seat in congress after Tom Delay and the Republican Party re-redistricted the state providing a safe, solid republican district, one he would never have to seriously defend. His constituents in return got Louie, the Aggie Joke. He has accomplished about as much Bernie Sanders, passing only 1 bill in 16 years,

He along with Congressman Gym Jordon is the Beavis and Butthead of Congress. He is a clown and acts like one during hearings. He is like Trump using racists language like “Terror babies”. He makes unsubstantiated claims about immigrants and other subjects. He routinely refuses interviews except to be on Fox News. He is the boot licker of the House for Donald Trump.

Gohmert is a racist joke. He represents his district well.

After a racist post, will the Harris County Republican Party stand by their Chair, Keith Nielsen?

July 14, 2020

Remember that racist post the chair-elect of the Harris County Republican Party, Keith Nielsen shared on his Facebook page? Let me remind you:

Keith posted a racist meme (which has been removed) on Facebook quoting Martin Luther King. The meme also had a pic of a banana next to the Black civil rights leader’s quote. It wasn’t a fruit salad, or a medley of fresh tropical fruits and he wasn’t in the middle of a well balanced meal when he created the meme. It was a banana. It was racist. We know it. He knows it. The Pasadena City Council knows it and took action.

Nielson was fired from the Texas Planning Commission based upon his racist post. Shortly afterward he resigned from the position of Chair of the Harris County Republican Party before even taking office. And then today we hear this:

Harris County GOP officials are increasingly convinced that chairman-elect Keith Nielsen plans to take office next month despite saying he would step aside weeks ago after sharing a racist image on social media.

So now it is up to the precinct chairs of the party to decide which side of the aisle they are on. Do you line up behind Nielsen and shake off his racist post or call for his removal? My bet is that they will stand with Nielsen, after all they are firmly behind the racist in chief, Donald Trump so why not just maintain consistency? It’s really just who they are as a party. Nielsen is a perfect leader for them.

No Place but the Texas GOP.

Another republican losing their job over a tweet in Houston

June 24, 2020

How stupid can trump people be? Ask the General Manager (or it might be the former GM this afternoon) of the Scrap Yard professional softball team out of the Woodlands. From Sports Illustrated:

During a game against USSSA Pride, another independent pro softball team, a tweet was posted on Scrap Yard’s Twitter account with a picture of players standing and the words, “Hey @realDonaldTrump Pro Fastpitch being played live @usssaspacecoast @USSSAPride Everyone respecting the FLAG!”

That post produced sharp retorts from Osterman and several other players as well as a Facebook repudiation of the tweet, which subsequently was deleted but archived by several Twitter users, by USSSA Pride.

The team members have since quit and will be looking for other teams to play with. The General Manager, Connie May was responsible for the tweet and defended it. Just this month she was promoted to the new regional director for the Unites States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) of the greater Houston area.
So because of this politically and racially charged tweet, the GM has lost her team, the team has lost their team, and the opponents have lost a team to play against.
By this afternoon I would bet the GM will have lost her job joining the Harris County Republican Party Chair-elect. The USSSA Pride Team has responded:

How to avoid being labeled a racist (R)

June 13, 2020

It really isn’t hard.

Since the killing of George Floyd there has been a rash of firing, suspensions, and removals from office because of racist comments or displays. Here in Harris County after posting a racist meme the Chair of the Republican Party resigned his position months before officially taking the office. He also lost his job with the City of Pasadena. He is just one of 6 other republican county chairs in Texas who have been asked to resign by the Governor or encouraged to resign for posting racist comments on Facebook.

Maybe the (R)s need a little training on how to avoid being labeled a racist (R). Here are some tips:

  1. Don’t be a racist. Racism is bad. Very bad. (it’s also 2020. You shouldn’t have to be told this.)
  2. Think before you post something on social media.
  3. If you think what you want to post might be considered racist, it probably is. Don’t post it.
  4. Don’t use racist slurs. You know what they are. Just don’t say them. Ever.
  5. Remember that social media and video are forever. They never go away. What you write or do might go viral and available for your next possible employer to find. No one will hire a racist.
  6. Don’t display racist symbols. That means take your confederate flag off your pick up truck before driving to work, unless you really are a racist. If you are a racist fly the flag so we know who you are. The Confederate flag is a flag for losers, literally and it has become a symbol of racism.
  7. And if you really have the urge to show your racism, do it in the comfort of your own home and using your inside your head voice.
If by chance you make an unfortunate comment that could be considered racist, apologize. Sincerely. Then learn from your stupidity.
