Former CCISD Trustee Scott Bowen, after losing his seat on the CCISD School Board, is running for State Representative in House District 129, the Bay Area. HD129 covers the area from Friendswood to Seabrook, from about Beltway 8 and the south border of Harris County. (See pic below)
Our district has elected a Republican for State Representative for almost 30 years yet our home insurance is out the roof. The cost of health insurance is sickening. Electricity rates are shocking. Schools continue to be under funded. Home prices are out of reach for many. Our immigration system is still broken. If elected, Bowen will simply take a knee to Greg Abbott and follow his every command. Nothing will change until we change our voting patterns.
Below is a number of reasons to keep Scott Bowen out of your House.
School Vouchers, CRT, DEI, and more.
- As a CCISD Trustee he was caught on camera advocating for school vouchers by sponsoring a resolution for the Texas Republic Party. It passed, but not unanimously.
- As a CCISD Trustee he was caught on camera testifying against public schools and claiming the district supported his view. (A formal grievance was filed against him for this)
- Bowen has called for abolishing property taxes with no alternative solution to fund our schools. (He is following Greg Abbott’s cue)
- Bowen spearheaded the worthless effort calling for the end of “CRT” in the classroom. CRT or “Critical Race Theory” was never taught in CCISD and was never planned to be taught. It’s a graduate course taught in a few colleges, not k-12. It was a huge waste of effort, time, and money.
- He spearheaded the book ban targeting the Gay community including parents, teachers, and students. (Bowen’s family members are gay)
Bowen’s Association with extremist organizations:
- He solicited funding for CCISD elections from Defend Texas Liberty an extremist PAC primarily funded by two West Texas, evangelical, oil billionaires. (They were featured on CNN. Deep in the Pockets of Texas.)
- DTL was disbanded after being caught by The Texas Tribune meeting with a known white supremacist, Nick Fuentes. Fuentes is a holocaust denier. Google him.
- He accepted $2000 from DTL for his CCISD campaign
- He solicited help and spoke at meetings held by the True Texas Project an extreme right wing organization that was banned from meeting at the Webster Presbyterian Church. TTP is identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an anti-government “extremist” group.
- He has personal relationships (Served on the Texas A&M Senate) with the Director of Texans for Strong Borders who was seen chauffeuring [Nick] Fuentes
- He has continued to accept donations from the director.
- He has personal relationship with Cary Cheshire, (Served on the Texas A&M Senate) the executive director of Texans For Strong Borders and a longtime employee of Defend Texas Liberty.
Recruiting unqualified candidates to run against sitting CCISD Board Members
- As a CCISD Trustee he has recruited 6 unqualified candidates to run for the board to advance his personal political agenda. Two won.
- He ran for President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Board but received just 3 votes on each.
- He solicited money from extremist PACs with one goal of taking over School Boards.
- CCISD Voters have resisted the takeover of our School Board by extremist PACs unlike voters in Keller ISD, Katy ISD, CFISD. Those districts are/were in turmoil.
- He recruited Christine Parizo to run against the sitting President. She lost by 25 points, called for a recount, claimed voter fraud, called for an investigation by the Texas Attorney General. She lost all claims.
- He recruited Misty Dawson one of the most unqualified candidates to run for the School Board. She lost, called for a recount, then sued. Eventually she dropped her suit.
- Bowen, as a sitting Trustee, meddled in the lawsuit Dawson brought against her winning opponent.
- He recruited Pete Lauzon to run against the sitting President. Lauzon was mainly funded by Defend Texas Liberty, the PAC associated with the white supremacist. He also lost.
- He recruited a grossly unqualified candidate (Joe Machol) to run against a sitting Board member. He lost.
- He has solicited money and support from partisan organizations with unlimited money.
- He continues to recruit candidates to run against sitting board members (Gabriel Frank Gonzales)
Other issues
- From the time he was elected he has created chaos on the Board.
- He complained about losing motions by 6-1 on multiple extremist motions.
- He encouraged extremist to come to the CCISD meetings and speak against public education causing disruption
- He supported a candidate who attended the Jan 6 riots for State School Board
- He has a disturbing relationship with Steven Hotze who has been indicted on 3 felonies including aggravated assault and organized crime concerning voter fraud.
- He won his reelection by less than 50% with his two opponents taking a combined 52%.
- He used pictures of children in his campaign material without parental permission
Do our community a favor and keep Bowen out of our House.
