Rent it. The hype was so much better than the movie itself. I was disappointed, but at least I didn’t fall asleep. This is a Spielberg movie. You would expect that someone who brought us Saving Private Ryan, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Schindlers List would bring his magic to Disclose Day. He didn’t. It’s now ranked in the top ten of the worst movies he has created. I have to agree.
It is an interesting movie but so full of “Oh come on” moments that it was hard to enjoy. There are car chase scenes that just don’t make sense. The film editing was poor with obvious errors. Some claims”It makes you think”. Think about what? Why I spent $10 on this movie? If there was a message in the movie it was lost in the poorly formed plot. Much like a kid playing Thermonuclear War on NORADs computers the take over of a world wide TV station was just plain, what is the word?, stupid. Just plain stupid. I was waiting for someone to pull out a hand held dish to connect to the satellite and enter the computers through the back door. Yes, it was that, uh, stupid.
The movie started ok. It was interesting but fell apart as characters fell off the screen never to be seen again. It seems like Spielberg ran out of money and ideas at the end of the movie. I was disappointed. It had so much promise. I think ET was better.
If you are going to go to La Marque City Councilman Joseph Lowry’s trial tomorrow here are a few tips. Visit this page to get updates on the trial. You never know what can happen that would result in a postponement.
The Case # is 24-CV-2218 | Walter Burt, Et Al vs. Joseph Lowry. It is being held in the 212th District Court, with Judge Grady, Patricia. The court is located at 600 59th St Galveston, TX 77551 in the relatively new Justice Center. The case begins at 9:00AM with jury selection, as I have been told. Parking is free. Expect to go through security checks.
Please respect the court. No loud talking. No talking in front of the doors of the court. NO CAMERAS or taking pictures of the court whether you are inside or not. (Ask me about my personal experience) No outbursts. Of course, silence your cell phones.
Hopefully the trial will start immediately after the jury selection and we can have a drink at a local restaurant later that day.
June 15, 2026 9:00AM. 24-CV-2218 | Walter Burt, Et Al vs. Joseph Lowry. 212th District Court, Grady, Patricia.
This ought to be interesting. The case against La Marque Councilman Joseph Lowry finally goes to trial on Monday June 15. Jury selection is expected in the morning and hopefully the trial will begin in the afternoon. If you are interested you can view an excerpt from Lowry’s deposition here. This trial concerns harassment, stalking, and threats made by Lowry against a number of individuals including City Councilwoman Kimberly Yancy for violating a previous settlement.
Back in 2022 Lowry was sued for harassment by Council Member Yancy resulting in an agreement to refrain from threatening or harassing comments that would give rise to criminal action on social media, newspapers, and any media outlet not explicitly stated herein. Galveston County Case # 22-CV-0993. The current suit has a number of counts with #6 is referring to Lowry’s breach of this agreement. The counts are:
Breach of Contract against Kimberley Yancy
Defamation
Harrassment
Stalking
Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress:
Public Disclosure of Private Facts:
The violation of that agreement was discussed in Lowry’s deposition. It seems like a slam dunk to me. He agreed to the settlement(Rule 11 Agreement) and he violated it. Drinks will follow the trial.
You have to wonder what the living f*** is going on with voters in Uvalde.
Uvalde is in Congressional District 23 currently represented by nobody since Tony Gonzalez resigned after his affair with a staffer was revealed. CD 23 runs from San Antonio to El Paso. Abbott hasn’t called for a special election for fear that republicans will lose the seat as many of their candidates have lost across the country. But Uvalde is different.
After the horrible shooting by a mentally ill kid, who had easy access to firearms, voters in Uvalde voted for the very same person who provided easy access to the firearm, Greg Abbott. 19 children were slaughtered. 2 teachers lost their lives. Tax payers paid for the destruction of the school and for a new school to be built. Families were torn apart and yet they voted for Abbott the guy who made getting a firearm as easy as walking into a Walmart and buying a military style weapon. It was as if the voters in Uvalde were giving the finger to the families of the kids who were killed.
Now to add insult to injury the Republican Party has nominated an extremist gun nut who is so extreme even the NRA keeps their distance from him. Brandon Herrera has absolutely no credible experience to run for office. He is a Youtuber. He owns a gun manufacturing company. He is an extremist. He is a UFO, Unqualified For Office and he is endorsed by Trump, the worst human being in the world since Hitler.
The Republican Party is making fun of Uvalde and at this point they deserve it.
Bo French, the racist who won the Republican primary for Texas Railroad Commission is being funded by former CCISD Trustee Scott Bowen’s Billionaire buddies out of North Texas and they are spending a lot of money!
Follow me for a bit because there is some shady shit going on. Bo French, the republican nominee for Railroad Commissioner who is mired in controversy over his racist posts, has raised $2.1 Million for his race. Of this $1.6 Million comes from two individuals, Farris Wilks, and Timothy Dunn, the two billionaires from North Texas who where featured on CNN, “How two Texas megadonors have turbocharged the state’s far-right shift“.
Both have contributed to a number of PACs supporting French including the PAC Texas Freedom Fund for the Advancement of Justice and Texans United for a Conservative Majority PAC. Texans United for a Conservative Majority PAC. used to be the Defend Texas Liberty PAC until the management was caught meeting with Nick Fuentes, a known holocaust denier. Both of these PACs are funded by the two billionaires. These two donated to Bowen’s candidates who ran for the CCISD board. They gave Pete Lauzon $5000 to run. They gave another candidate $5000 but she returned it.
Texas United for a Conservative Majority (Defend Texas Liberty) gave French $100,000. Since changing their name they raised $15.5 Million with $14.7 million coming from Bowen’s Billionaire Buddies Farris Wilks and Timothy Dunn.
The PAC Texas Freedom Fund for the Advancement of Justice gave French $923,000. This PAC was created in 2020 and since has raised $16.5 Million. Of this Dunn donated $9.6 Million. Wilks donated $4.7 Million.
Another new PAC Texas Conservative Voters donated $400,0000 to French. This PAC was created in 2026 and raised $500,000 from two individuals. Luke and Timothy Dunn. Go figure.
Besides being a fucking racist, French is going to be Scott Bowen’s Billionaire Buddies Bitch.
Bo French is the former Tarrant County Republican Chair. He isn’t the most popular chair even amongst Republicans, in fact many have called for his resignation for his many racist comments and social media posts. The Texas Tribune wrote a detailed report on Bo prior to the Republican primary yet he still won running on deporting 100 million people from the United States. Even Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Mr Extreme Far Right, has distanced himself from Bo. This guy is sick. Truly a UFO, Unqualified For Office, yet Republicans still want him as the representative of the Party for Railroad Commissioner.
Deporting 100 people from the US and attacking Jews and Muslims have nothing to do with the office of Texas Railroad Commission. The TRC actually regulates the oil industry to make sure they are not extracting oil while polluting the surrounding environment. The TRC makes sure the industry is making money but in a responsible manner. It has nothing to do with being a full blown racist mother f***er.
Besides being a racist mother f***er, Bo is running on being a part of the “Nuclear family” while being divorced from his wife. Much like Paxton that is actually a plus in the eyes of the Republican voters. Luckily Republican voters have lost all sense of moral values. They are groping in the dark looking for their moral compass and don’t really care if they ever find it. To them Bo is a winner, as is Paxton, and Trump. Bo likes to tout his “nuclear family” yet his wife is either taking this picture or has divorced his ass.
I had a run in with Senator Jane Nelson, not physically but through the Texas Ethics Commission. I believe I caught her funneling her donors money through her husband’s company to buy a condo. Buying property with your donors money is not allowed in Texas. My complaint was the second time she was caught. You can read the details here but the results of the 2 year investigation is considered “confidential” and hidden from the public.
So why is she resigning? If you haven’t paid attention to the Secretary of State, and most of Texans don’t, it is clear what is going on. It is my belief Greg Abbott is expecting an ass kicking in November. Maybe not for his race but for his MAGAt Party and he has to do something to make it difficult to vote and limit turnout. What better way to do this than to remove people from the voting records. Or maybe takeover the large county’s voting process. Or maybe do something illegal which could land the Secretary of State in criminal court waiting for a verdict and a pardon from Abbott or Trump.
Nelson doesn’t want her record of service ending in a much needed pardon. She began her political career in 1988 almost 40 years ago. To call her a professional politician is an understatement. She will be heavily compensated for her service to the State in retirement making more than most teachers will ever see and will have free healthcare for her and her husband, the guy she funneled money to to buy a condo. She needs to run away from being Secretary of State.
Don Huffines is a State Senator who used his billions of dollars to overwhelm the opposition in his election to the Senate. He has run for other offices such as Congress and even challenging Greg Abbott for Governor. He lost those elections. He is considered to be right of Abbott and wrong on his purpose for running. He is now the Republican nominee for Texas Comptroller running on ending Sharia Law and putting the Jesus back into the Jesus F***ing Christ.
Like his other races the billionaire is self funding, spending millions to secure the nomination. His campaign finance reports for 2025-2026 tell a partial story. He raised a total of $7.1 Million with $3.5 million from his own pocket. But he also has a $15 Million outstanding loan from himself. He will be able to flood the media with this kind of money much like Senator Money Mayes Middleton did in the Bay Area. He also received $1 Million from a Georgia PAC, Protect Freedom. To call them a far right PAC is an insult to the far right. Moving any far right they will fall off the edge of the flat earth.
Huffines has $15 million cash on hand which is about $14 Million more than he needs. Most people don’t know what the Comptroller does including me but know this, a extreme far right multibillionaire is using his money to win the seat.
I’ve lived in Senate District 11 which covers parts of Harris County, Brazoria, and Galveston since 1981. I can tell you a thing or two about Mayes Middleton, his money problems, his racist comments, and his lack of attention to the district.
Money Mayes Middleton Money Problems Middleton has a habit of self financing his campaigns. He spent $2 million of his own money to win a primary for House District 32. He spent another $2 million of his own money to win the Senate race. Now he is poised to spend $50 million for his race for Attorney General. In just the year 2026 he has raised $8.9 Million with $5.8 Million coming from his own pocket. Needless to say Mayes is wealthy and entitled to the position. He has enough money to self finance and will spend whatever it takes to win. Ask Congressman Chip Roy.
His Racist Comments Mayes has a problem with the Asian community. In 2025 he posted about State Representative Gene Wu, a Chinese American representing the Houston area. When contacted about the tweet by Click2Houston he ignored them. Others were clearly not happy:
“Senator Middleton represents a very diverse population in the Bay Area,” the group said. “The state does not need an individual running for the highest legal office in the state who spouts off racist comments. Middleton claims to be a conservative and devout Christian but making racist comments are neither a conservative value nor a Christian value.”
Missing in Action Ever since being elected to office Middleton has been missing in action. He has never held a town hall meeting with this constituents. He has only addressed the business community, extreme right wing religious organizations, and republican party gatherings. Mayes sat on the Business and Commerce Committee responsible for oversight of the Insurance Industry. His claim to fame is stopping a modest 10% increase requested by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) leaving the tax payers to pay for any future claims. Others in the Bay Area have been hammered by the rising cost of insurance with increases of 50% or more and companies refusing to insure properties.
Legislature Failures Instead of working to lower the cost of living in the Bay Area or supporting our public schools Mayes spent his time to force teachers to place posters of the 10 Commandments in their classrooms and posters that say “In God we Trust” all while our schools are starved for cash. He supported the school Voucher scam that provided billions in tax dollars going to private schools. He is a Christian Nationalist and will continue to force his version of Christianity on others. Middleton voted to put guns into the hands of those who shouldn’t have them resulting a a horrible school shooting in Uvalde. Along with his Christian values, he loves guns and giving easy access to them.
At least Mayes hasn’t had an affair or has been impeached. If he did he would be a shoe in for the Texas Attorney General’s position.
MAGAts up and down the ballot have dominated the Texas GOP primary except for one or two candidates. Senator John Cornyn was absolutely trampled by Ken Paxton 63-37. It was so bad, many called the race once early votes were posted. This was a good old fashioned ass whopping especially after Cornyn spent his last few months ass kissing to Trump, all for naught. Trump is no dummy. He saw the polls He endorsed Paxton. He didn’t want to look like the loser he is.
In other races Money MAGAt Mayes Middleton won the runoff for Texas Attorney General running on wiping out Sharia Law wherever it exists, even though it doesn’t exist anywhere. To Money, Muslims are the new Mexicans ripe for the attack. If elected Middleton will be just another ass kisser to Trump. At least he hasn’t been impeached or been caught porking someone besides his wife. Yet.
Bo French won the primary for Texas Railroad Commissioner. French ran on bashing Muslims and Jews as if the RRC has anything to do with Muslim or Jewish issues, but joining Money Mayes on bashing Muslims works for MAGAts. He was condemned by Republican leaders across the board many calling for his resignation including Lt Governor Dan Patrick. French has an interesting background, almost losing his Chair of the Tarant County Republican Party due to his Muslim and Jewish bashing. Like Paxton he is a true MAGAt conservative pictured with his 20 kids on his website with his wife taking the picture or being out of the picture. (She is out.) French is a MAGAt. A true, bigoted, racist, divorced, MAGAt.
Locally new comer Richard Vega, another true, born again, MAGAt won his primary for Harris County Commissioner. His primary opponent tried unsuccessfully to highlight his gang banging past but as I said he is born again and that, according to Christians, absolves him from any wrongdoing. Luckily he is a MAGAt. MAGAts just don’t care about your past, unless you are a Democrat.
Orlando Sanchez, another Mexican MAGAt, won his primary for Harris County Judge. Sanchez used his own money for this primary. The party was hoping for an upset with Annise Parker losing. She did. I expect tens of millions to be spent on this race on behalf of Sanchez. Unlike others Sanchez doesn’t have a strong connection to the MAGAt party or to Trump. Maybe he is taking the advice of former Judge Ed Emmett and keeping his head down, shutting the fuck up, and running like a true conservative.
And let’s not forget Scott Bowen, the youngest, voucher loving, living with his mom, MAGAt on the ballot running for State Representative. You can find all you want about him here. It is a long read.
These are just a few examples of who Texans have to vote for and what the Republican Party has become. The MAGAts of Texas have crushed the Conservatives in the party. Its conservative values of local control, fiscal responsibility, strong on crime, yada yada, have been replaced by bigotry, fiscal stupidity, and mass pardons for criminals.
Nothing scares the shit out of an independent voter like a socialist.
Bernie Sanders, the 84 year old socialist will be the Keynote Speaker at the Texas Democratic Convention in Corpus Christi this summer. Look for the Republican Party to make HEY! out of this. Texas Monthly has already chimed in.
Dave Carney, top Greg Abbott strategist and proud New Englander, gleefully retweeted Democrats throughout the week. “Best news this week!” he wrote when the party announced that Sanders would come to the convention.
Unlike California, Statewide candidates running in the Democratic Party in Texas cannot win an election with only Democratic voters. Ask all the candidates that have run over the last 25 years. They, we, need the help of those so called “swing” voters and they are easily scared. They look for any excuse to hold their nose and vote for a felon like they did in 2024 instead of voting for an intelligent well qualified woman. Democrats love to give them excuses not to vote for Democrats. Having Bernie Sanders as the keynote speaker of the Texas Democratic Party Convention might be that excuse they need in November.
I expect Sanders to do what he does best when he takes the stage. The 84 year old socialist will talk about the unattainables such as free healthcare, free college, free transportation. These are issues he has championed for over 40 years and has made little if any progress. His Medicare for all, or single payer, or universal healthcare bill was filed and failed after the budget office put a $30 Trillion price tag on it. This is his problem. He has these unattainable ideas but is not capable of selling the idea to Congress, to the party he doesn’t belong to, or the consumers. It’s not whether the ideas are good or not it’s that he can’t make progress on the issues he is selling. Instead of making false promises he ought to work to make progress.
Bernie, like the other far left folks (The Squad), lacks legislature victories. In his 40+ years in Congress he has passed 3 bills, renaming buildings. The Squad isn’t much better. Over the last 4 years The Squad consisting of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Cory Bush, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Presley, Jamaal Bowman, and Rashida Harbi Tlaib have filed a total of 290 bills, passing only 4. 3 of these bills renamed buildings. (Bowman and Bush are no longer in Congress)
But regardless of his inability to make progress the 84 year old socialist will be the keynote speaker at the Texas Democratic Party Convention. Personally I wish they had booked AOC. At the very least she is a Democrat. We are expected to do well in Texas elections. We might even win a state wide race if we can give the easily frightened independents good reasons to vote for us. Bernie Sanders is not one of these reasons.
If you are going to the Convention you might want to use this bingo card for Bernie’s speech. The winning card will be the one with no squares covered.
La Marque has been in the news quite a bit because of one single council member causing chaos with unsubstantiated claims of corruption, lawlessness, criminality and calls for unnecessary and costly “forensic audits”. Seabrook, on the other hand, escaped this chaos a few years ago electing a new Mayor and Council Members dedicated to being a bit boring, doing the job, and providing services for the community. This is exactly what every elected official should be doing especially in non partisan races. Fortunately the voters of La Marque ran off the Council Members wife in their recent election, but….there is a runoff coming June 13 in Seabrook.
Seabrook voters have a chance to stay out of the news with competent, non partisan, leadership. This election pits Aaron McGuire against Bryon Hanssen. Aaron is associated with the Save Seabrook group, one that is trying to save Seabrook from whatever they can make up like unsubstantiated claims of corruption, lawlessness, criminality and calls for unnecessary and costly “forensic audits”. Back in May of 2025 the Save Seabrook candidates didn’t fare well:
The candidates of the Save Seabrook (SS) Squad were enjoying spicy crawfish at The Barge on election night, at least for a little while. In the end all but one lost. Angela Cervantes is the only SS candidate that won her seat on City Council. Jackie Rasco lost. J.P. Byers lost. Kyra Burton lost. Chris Hues lost. I really didn’t see this coming and I bet they didn’t appreciate the guy in the corner playing WOMP WOMP on his trombone.
Angela was the only successful candidate. Her time, so far, on Council could be more productive but adding another SS Council Member will not help. Calling for unnecessary and expensive forensic audits, as former Councilman Joe Machol has demanded will not move the city forward.
Voters should consider Saving Seabrook from chaos.
An open records request for the copies of police reports filed by La Marque City Councilman Joseph Lowry resulted in a 122 page document. You can review all the reports filed for the last two years by Lowry here. Some of these reports are petty, funny, and disturbing. For instance report #23-00128 filed on 1/21/23. Lowry called in a terroristic threat. Somehow that was classified as an “Attempted Suicide”. Officer A.Skaggs with the La Marque Police Department handled the incident which was eventually closed. You can read the report below.
According to the report Lowry had received a letter with a picture of pigs eating and the caption “Lowery’s Family”. It was mailed from the Houston area from “The citizens of La Marque”. Obviously someone was comparing Lowry and his wife to pigs, which is an insult to pigs, a crime in itself. But clearly it was nothing more than an insult. Lowry called the police because he believed it was a threat because people feed pigs dead people. (I’m not making this up) Lowry demanded that the letter be put into evidence and processed for finger prints. Lowry also requested DNA to be collected and processed as well as a forensic audit of the Post Office because they are all criminals. (ok. That last sentence I made up)
The police stated he was hog tied and unable to spend significant time on his case but will continue the investigation when pigs fly. He suggested that Lowry should not go pig wild in his attempt to make a pigs ear out of something. He also stated there are a number of other police reports and he could piggy back on one of those. Lowry continued to squeal like a stuck pig and was last seen at the all you can eat salad bar.
OK. That last paragraph was also made up. Read the 122 page document here. There are a number of disturbing reports that should be read.
Years ago the Texas Department of Insurance was considering allowing mandatory binding arbitration in home insurance contracts. This was due to a rash of hail damage claims in South Texas. I attended the hearing and watched as the Commissioner was warned about the abuse of arbitration in other contracts like new home construction. Eventually the Commission denied the request but I believe it is coming back.
Consumers should be very concerned about this for a number of reasons. First and foremost the right to a civil trial is protected (or was) by the 7th Amendment of the Constitution.
In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.
Back in the mid 90’s the homebuilders decided to put mandatory arbitration clauses in their new home contracts. Home buyers were required to sign away their rights to the Constitution. Since the vast majority of home builders required mandatory arbitration there was not much of a choice. When you give up your rights and have a defect in your new home you are required to enter into a private justice system that is mandatory, secret, and final. There are no appeals. There isn’t a jury or a judge. The builders will never say arbitration is faster, cheaper, and just as fair as our time honored justice system because it is simply not true.
Recently State Farm is being sued for denying hail damage across the nation. NPR wrote an excellent article on the situation. I can see this being used as a way for the Texas Legislature to allow insurance companies to put arbitration clauses in home contracts. Just remember, just like new home construction, rates and cost of repairs will not go down. So called “tort reform” have never resulted in lower prices for consumers. It only helps the insurance companies from being held accountable in a public trial.
There was a suit, Case #24-CV-2218) filed against Council Member Joseph Lowry by a number of individuals including Council Member Kim Yancy, former Council Member Jim Ross, CJ Beard, and Walter Burt an owner of a construction company. According to documents posted to the Galveston County website Burt has settled his portion of the suit. The details have not been disclosed. The others have not settled and the Judge has set trial date of May 18.
The original petition against Lowry includes defamations, harassment, unauthorized disclosure of private facts, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and stalking. (sounds familiar?) In 2022 Lowry settled a suit against Kim Yancy. Count six of the new suit includes “Breach of Contract against Kimberley Yancy”. Lowry was sued for harassment by Council Member Yancy resulting in an agreement to refrain from threatening or harassing comments that would give rise to criminal action on social media, newspapers, and any media outlet not explicitly stated herein. Galveston County Case # 22-CV-0993. He violated that agreement.
This should be interesting to watch Lowry take the stand under oath and defend his actions. In a civil trial a defendant must take the stand to defend themself. If they decide not to then the jury can assume the allegations are true. Trial is set for May 18, 2026 in Galveston. Breakfast will be at 9:00.
Oh Lord Let us prey. Let us prey on the poor for they cannot afford to eat. Let us prey on the sick for they cannot afford insurance. Let us prey on the Hispanics for they will be deported. Let us prey on the Blacks for their lives do not matter. Let us prey on the disabled for they are weak. Let us prey on the Muslims for they are now targets of hate Let us prey on the Immigrants for they do not belong here. Let us prey on the police as we flood the streets with guns.
And oh Lord Let us prey on the supporters of the Republican Party for they are too ignorant to know we are preying on them too.
Republicans have been in power in Texas for over 30 years with complete control of the Governorship, House, and Senate for the last 22 years. Yet I cannot remember one single time our elected officials in the Bay Area met with their constituents except when they have spoken to the business community. This includes Members of Congress and State officials.
Congressman Brian Babin, age 78, was elected in 2014 and has never met with his constituents. Senator Mayes Middleton has been in office for 8 years. State Representative Dennis Paul has been in office for 10 years. Neither have met with their constituents. Both Middleton and Paul set on committees responsible for home insurance. If they had met with those they represent they would have understood that home insurance in the Bay Area is out the roof and out of control. Instead they did nothing. I have seen Paul walking his dog in the green belt more times than I have seen him addressed those he represents. (The first time was right after the Uvalde shootings. It did not go well.)
NASA is in Babin’s district. You would think with all the turmoil, cuts, and lack of focus Babin would have met with those who work in the industry, at the very least. Instead he has his lips sewn to the ass of Trump, following along, and doing nothing to stop the insanity of his administration, the cuts to NASA, or the high cost of living in the district.
If you see any of our elected officials please call 1-800-IAM-LOST.
City Councilman Joe Compian and his challenger Sade Williams will be in a run off for La Marque City Council District B. Both received 56 votes. The runoff will be sometime in June. Compian, a sitting Councilman, only received 35% of the vote with 65% of all voters supporting someone else. The next election will be between two candidates, not four. This should concern Compian. If I was going to advise Compian I would tell him to put some distance between himself and Councilman Lowry. As I have said in the past Lowry and his wife are as popular as herpes at a hot tub party. Speaking of his wife…
La Marque has a runoff in June, but on May 2 voters ran off Sarah Lowry, the wife of Councilman Joseph Lowry. Lowry was a candidate for District D and was crushed by 53 points with 55 voters in District D voting for her. 55?!?!? Really? Getting runoff by 53 points is sad but getting 55 votes for someone with the baggage of her husband’s child like attitude is really sad!
But the good news is that Tonia Griffin returns to Council. Good luck to Compian and Williams in the runoff.
Both incumbents Arturo Sanchez and Jamieson Mackay have retained their seats on the CCISD School Board. Arturo absolutely hammered his opponent, Gabriel Gutierrez who was recruited by former Trustee Scott Bowen. He lost 1122 to 209. That was an incredible ass whipping. Jamieson beat Ernest A. Hallman II by 458-190. This is the first election for many years where outside of the district money was not a factor.
In previous elections Scott Bowen raised money from a PAC called Defend Texas Liberty. They were funded by two billionaires out of Dallas until the leadership was caught with Nick Fuentes, a holocaust denier. They have since changed the PAC name to Texans United for a Conservative Majority. This year there was no outside money and that was good. Maybe the partisan attack on our school board is finally over.
CCISD School Board is not a place for partisan politics or unlimited money from billionaires who are outside of the district. With Scott off the board and Sanchez and Mackay returning our board continues to be out of the news and moving forward on behalf of the students, teachers, parents, and tax payers.
Albert Wittliff is running for State Representative in the Bay Area, House District 129. I recently wrote “Bay Area’s Texas House District 129 and Why It’s Important to You” if you want to take a few minutes to read. I recently attended an event for Albert and took this 16 minute video of his introduction. The video could be better but Albert is spot on. I think you would agree that he has the experience to do the job, is very articulate, and has the ability to negotiate which is what Representatives do. He covers a number of topics that are important to the Bay Area.
Albert is running against former Trustee Scott Bowen. Our district has been represented by the Republican Party for over 30 years and Scott believes he is the apparent heir to this throne. Unfortunately Scott has a disturbing political past as documented here. He is one of the worst candidates to run for this office with little if any political skills. As a Trustee he brought political chaos to the School Board. He recruited candidates to challenge sitting board members and raised thousands of out of district money from extremist billionaires out of Dallas. Now his campaign is being funded by out of district PACs including Texans United for a Conservative Majority which is funded by Bowen’s Billionaire Buddies. Take a minute to read about Scott here.
The district deserves better. In over 30 years our elected officials have NEVER met with their constituents, with us. Albert will change that. With home insurance out the roof and the cost of living in the Bay Area skyrocketing we need competent leadership, no matter which party they are from.
The elections is in November. BTW I have donated and volunteered for Albert.
