Who the hell is Texas Majority PAC?

April 7, 2023

If you know my position about the mythical “democratic socialist” you will not like this article.

The Texas Majority PAC has sent invitations out to Democrats across Houston for a presentation on their accomplishments in Texas. Their invite says:

Our staff ran the 2022 Texas Democratic coordinated effort–the campaign that ran the statewide organizing program last year–and we’re meeting in Houston on 4/11 at 6:30 pm to discuss the election results, share the outcomes of our organizing, get your feedback, and discuss what comes next for Texas.

Considering we lost every State wide race in the midterms this ought to be an interesting evening. So who is Texas Majority PAC? Good question.

According to the Texas Ethics Commission they filed their first report in January 2023. They received only 1 donation of $100,000 in Dec of 2022, and spent $0. So it will be interesting to see how they can take credit for anything in Texas if they didn’t spend any money. The report states that they are raising money for the Democratic primary in March of 2024.

Their one donation was from Democracy PAC II. Democracy PAC II has one, just one donor, for $175 Million. (that is not a typo $175 MILLION) That one donor is Soros Fund Management, an investment firm founded by George Soros.

So Texas Majority PAC is an extreme far left organization with a Campaign Director that prides herself in building large-scale organizing around “defunding the police”. What the living fuck? Who in the fuck believes in “defunding the police?”. No Democrat I know besides the extreme far, far, left believes in that stupidity, and none of them live in Texas and has won running on that talking point. None.

This PAC, like the other “Democratic Socialist” groups, will be funding socialist candidates to run against our Democratic candidates. In the past they have a history of losing, losing 73 out of 80 races until they abandoned their “run everywhere” idea and targeted Democrats in deep, deep, blue areas like Austin, but that is even wavering. They have a record of losing but they cost real Democrats time and money in the primary. Once they lose in the primary they are gone, leaving our candidates to fend for themselves.

None of this is good. They are a lightning rod for bad press and divisive politics within the party. If you got this far you probably aren’t happy. I warned you.

Raising Campaign Cash: CCISD Elections

April 7, 2023

Campaign finance reports have been posted on the CCISD Elections website. The next reports are due 8 days out from the election on May 6. All candidates have filed their reports. Some notes:

  • As expected Peter Lauzon is being financed by an extreme right wing political action committee of the Republican Party. Of his $7278 in donations $5000 came from the PAC, $2000 is a personal loan, and $278 came from 2 individuals. You can read the details here.
  • Glencora Rodgers received a large donation from the same PAC. She returned it. (good for her) I have included her statement below. Glencora received a $7000 donation from her husband’s fence company and has a $2000 personal loan.
  • Arturo Sanchez as personal loan of $950.
  • Jamieson Mackay raised $3750 from small donors.
  • Partisan politics has no business in local school board elections. None. At. All.

Here are the totals for each candidate:

CandidateRaisedExpendituresCOHLoans
District 2
Jamieson Mackay3750105126980
Glencora Rodgers5200980734732000
District 3
Arturo Sanchez485540651883950
Peter Lauzon7278275751350

From Glencora Rodgers:

I mistakenly took money from an outside group early in my campaign. I returned it because I want the people of our community to know my only loyalty is to them only. I’m a mom and an educator; not a politician. My brief stint in this world has shown me I certainly don’t want to be one. I believe in talking to anyone & listening to everyone. I want people to know- I am a believer in public education and the important role local neighborhood schools play in strong communities. I spent my whole career working with at-risk youth & trying to give them hope first & then skills. I was born without my arm & understand the importance of teaching kids to look at someone’s inner self & gifts. I am an experienced educator with years & levels of experience. These things don’t always fit in a partisan box. There’s so much common ground as it relates to students/schools to add a non-needed partisan divide. I’m humbled by the support of individuals who are trying to get to know the candidates and choose the right person to help govern the district. I have met so many wonderful people who passionately care about our community. I pray every morning for God to give me strength to do His will. I am motivated by love & service. Thank you.

Extreme far right donations enter CCISD race for Peter Lauzon

April 6, 2023

Well we all knew it was coming. And it came.

Peter Lauzon the Unqualified For Office (UFO) candidate for trustee has accepted a large donation from the Defend Texas Liberty PAC an extreme fair right PAC that has been fielding candidates against moderate Republicans, including Greg Abbott (if you can call him moderate). From the Texas Tribune:

In the Texas House, the biggest intraparty attack on Republican leadership came from the Defend Texas Liberty PAC, led by former state Rep. Jonathan Stickland, R-Bedford. Backed by hard-right donors like Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks, West Texas oil tycoons, the group spent at least $5.2 million from January onward.

Dunn and Wilks were featured in a CNN Investigation. They have contributed over $30 Million to promote gun for all and extreme far right candidates in the Republican primary. They have also contributed to extreme UFOs running for school board.

Lauzon raised a total of $7278 with $5000 from this PAC, $2000 from his own pocket, and $278 from 2 donors in the area.

I’ve said it in the past and I will say it again:

We do not need partisan politics to continue to infect our school board. CCISD is one of the best districts in the state. Our Trustees have challenges just to keep up with the constant pressure put on them concerning school funding and ridiculous mandates on our teachers, administrators, and students. They do not have time for Lauzon’s and Bowen’s political bullshit.

NOTE: Glencora Rodgers also received a donation from the Defend Texas Liberty PAC. She returned it.

OMG! Even more whining from the republican losers. It’s becoming embarrassing.

April 5, 2023

When did the party of Lincoln and Reagan become the party of whiny, little, sore losing, bitches?

Yet another huge loss for the Republican Party and all they can do is whine like Donald Trump, the Harris County Republican Party, local losing candidates of CCISD, losing republican candidates (all of them) in Harris County and more.

Now comes the Trump supported loser, Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Dan Kelly, who got crushed in his election for Wisconsin Supreme Court by Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz. It wasn’t close but on cue Kelly began his whining embarrassing whiny little bitches across the country. From Politico:

Kelly acknowledged his loss on Tuesday evening, but savaged the now-justice elect in his concession speech.”I wish in circumstances like this, I would be able to concede to a worthy opponent, but I do not have a worthy opponent,” he said, calling Protasiewicz’ campaign “beneath contempt” that launched “rancid slanders.” He said she would damage the integrity of the court.

This whine does not age with time. Trump is whining about being indicted stemming from porking a porn star and laundering campaign funds. The losers of the 2022 midterms in Harris County are whining about losing, again, and have filed frivolous lawsuits. We had massive whining right here in the Clear Lake area by two losing candidates for trustee. One resulted in a withdrawn, failed, lawsuit, and another resulted in a withdrawn candidate from a board meeting.

So much for the Party of Lincoln. How about the party of embarrassment. BTW the American Association of Whiny Little Bitches has filed suit against the Republican Party for defamation of character.

Republican stunt by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar leaves egg on his face

April 4, 2023

It’s almost funny.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar with help from Trump on Wheels, Greg Abbott, tried to claim Harris County “defunded” Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office in violation of the nanny state’s new law. As with all republicans, he lied.

Hegar attempted to use something called “fuzzy math” to make an unfounded claim that Harris County reduced funding for the Constables. Instead of having his staff call Judge Hidalgo’s office to discuss and address the issue, Hegar did what republicans do best, he just flat out lied then ran to the press like a whiny little bitch, again something the Republican Party is known for.

County Attorney, Christian Menefee, was forced to file suit against the Comptroller forcing Hegar to rescind his determination. According to Menefee:

“I’m glad the Comptroller admitted his error and is no longer holding Harris County’s budget process hostage,” said Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee. “I hope that in the future, we can talk through these types of allegations, as the law requires, before the Comptroller makes a final decision. Texans expect their elected representatives at different levels of government to be able to get on the phone and solve problems, even when they disagree. I urge the Comptroller to talk to us next time instead of forcing us to file a lawsuit.”

In the future Hegar has been given updated instructions on how to use an iPhone.

Spewing lies in the CCISD election for Trustee

April 3, 2023

This is what republican do best. They lie. Every. Single. Damn. Day.

Case in point, Peter Lauzon candidate for CCISD Trustee. First he claimed in an interview with the Houston Chronicle that he wants to keep “Politics out of the board” and yet he is running to bring politics into the board. Nothing could be further than the truth.

And now in an interview the the Community News Lauzon claims he is an “independent voice”. This is just total bullshit. Lauzon is running to bring extreme right wing politics into the board after losing one right wing board member who decided not to run for re-election. Lauzon is Corporal Chaos, Scott Bowen, hand picked candidate just like Misty Dawson, who lost the election, demanded a recount, then sued for a new election. Lauzon is just like Christine Parizo who lost by 25 percentage points, demanded multiple recounts, an investigation by the Texas AG, and was eventually escorted out of the board meeting.

School Board races are suppose to be non partisan. That is what they have always been. When Bowen joined the board he brought his extreme right wing conspiracy theories and divisive rhetoric to the board and schools. He and Lauzon will pair up to bring more divisiveness to our community. CCISD doesn’t need this, or Lauzon.

As an example of his divisive talk, Lauzon in his interview with Community News stated that the 2.5% increase cap on maintenance budget are due to state mandates. Well, guess the fuck what? Who do you think passed this 2.5% cap on the budget? Anyone? Anyone? The republican controlled House and Senate passed this and the republican governor signed it.

It’s as if he thinks you are stupid.

New Series: What the f*ck is wrong with you? State Representative Dennis Paul

April 3, 2023

It’s time we start asking the obvious question. I started with my State Representative Dennis Paul.

Paul lives down the street from me. Occasionally we see each other walking the green belt. In the past we exchange greetings, nothing more but after the Uvalde massacre something in me broke and I walked up to him and asked the obvious question “What the fuck is wrong with you?”

We are at a point in time when no other question needs to be asked. When all you can do is stand around at the polls wearing a stupid looking nra hat after 19 children were slaughtered by an 18 year old who you gave easy access to a military firearm then you need to be asked the question. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” How sick can you be to just sit there and do nothing while Texans are slaughtered in school, church, night clubs, parades, concerts, and more with guns that you made easily access to? Are you mentally fucked up?

But Dennis Paul isn’t the only one we need to ask this question to. There are many more individuals who spout off stupidity, wild eyed conspiracy theories, and just plain nonsense. These individuals need to asked “What the fuck is wrong with you?”.

So, I am starting this new series thanking Dennis Paul for giving me the idea. We can’t be nice about his anymore. People are getting killed, bullied for being who they are. Our democracy is being challenged and no one has the guts to confront them.

So check back often to read my new series and if you see Dennis Paul, how about asking him the question?

Caught on Paper. CCISD Candidate Peter Lauzon on gays, school vouchers, and more

March 30, 2023

In an article with the Houston Chronicle, candidate for CCISD Trustee, Peter Lauson claims to want to take politics out of the school board. Unfortunately we have him on video and now in ink saying the exact opposite.

Lauzon is a former member of the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC). He helped draft and voted to approve the Republican platform. The platform is what his party, and he, believes in. It outlines their goals and intentions and it is NOT in the best interest of the parents, teachers, and students of CCISD. If elected this is what you can expect from him as a Trustee. Here are just some of the high[low]lights of his platform. The entire platform can be read here.

155. Homosexuality: Homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle choice. (How are teachers, parents, students, staff, who are gay or who have loved ones who are gay and attend CCISD suppose to interpret this statement coming from a candidate for Trustee?)

31. Prayer, Bible, and Ten Commandments in Schools: We support prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments being returned to our schools, courthouses, and other government buildings. (What kind of prayer? Islam? Buddhist? or just the word of Jesus Christ their savior?)

101. School Choice: Texas families shall be empowered to choose from public, private, charter, or homeschool options for their children’s education, and the funding shall follow the student without strings attached. (ie Vouchers)

103. Parents’ Rights in Education: Parents are the primary educators and disciplinarians of their children, to which all other entities are inferior. (As if parents know better than teachers in education matters)

106. Inappropriate and/or Harmful Content: We request that the Texas Legislature pass legislation that requires Texas schools and libraries to filter inappropriate and/or harmful content, such as pornography, for minors. (This is already done but they want to ban anything that references the gay community. See 155 above)

108. Religious Freedom and Public Schools: We urge school administrators and officials not to infringe on Texas school students’ and staffs’ rights to pray and engage in religious speech, individually or in groups, on school property without government interference. (That is already done.)

112. American Identity: We favor strengthening our common American identity, which includes the contribution and assimilation of diverse racial and ethnic groups. We reject Critical Race Theory as a post-Marxist ideology that seeks to undermine the system of law and order itself and to reduce individuals to their group identity alone. We support legislation to remove this ideology from government programs, including education involving race, discrimination, and racial awareness.

115. Bilingual Education: We encourage non-English-speaking students to transition, via best practices, to English within two years, allowing them to quickly assimilate and succeed in American society. (As opposed to learning multiple languages to compete in a global environment)

123. Withdraw from Taxpayer-Funded Lobby Groups Like TASB: Local independent school districts should sever all ties with taxpayer funded lobby groups including the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), and the Texas Association of Community Schools (TACS).

This is who Peter Lauzon is. This is what he voted for. This is what he believes in. The only way he should come close to a school is if he bought a ticket to a school carnival.

Whining at the CCISD Board Meeting by Trustee Bowen

March 29, 2023

It’s becoming a trait of the Republican Party. Whine.

This weeks CCISD school board meeting was quite long. If you stayed for the end you heard Trustee Bowen begin to whine about losing a vote concerning an application called Dreambox.

On the agenda was an item to approve a contract continuation for an application that kids used for math. This application, Dreambox, has been in use for 7 years, has had an earlier extension approved, and has been well received. Bowen has been on the board for 4 years.

So all of a sudden Bowen decided to call for a delay in the voting because he wanted more information concerning the data that the application stored. All the other Trustee’s were satisfied with the application except for Jeff Larson, who tends to follow Bowen. Bowen lost the vote to delay then lost the vote to approve it. (The extension was approved)

He then began to whine about the board not supporting his request. He, Captain Chaos, wanted consensus on matters that popped out of his ass at any given moment. He whined about the board’s decision to vote against him.

My first thought when Bowen began asking long, drawn out questions, was “Why did he wait 4 years to bring this issue up?” It’s not like he didn’t have time or prior notice of the agenda item. For gosh sakes the application has been around for 7 years!

This is what republicans do best. Lose then whine.

Caught on Camera. CCISD Trustee testifies in Austin against public education.

March 29, 2023

Wow. Two Caught on Camera posts in one week!

There was a hearing for Senate Bill 175 which would gut the ability of the Texas Association of School Boards to advocate on behalf of the 1025 school boards that are members. According to their website:

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) is a voluntary, nonprofit, statewide educational association that serves and represents local Texas school boards and was established in 1949 with two main goals in mind:

To share information through publications and training to help Texas board members serve their communities more effectively.

To speak with a unified voice to decision makers to chart the best future for Texas public schools.

Trustee Scott Bowen, identifying himself as a Trustee of CCISD and speaking as a Trustee, on behalf of less than 50% of those who voted for him, spent his “own time and own dime” to speak in support of cutting TASB advocacy and giving the State more control over a local school district.

TASB has 1025 districts as members out of 1250 districts in the entire state. They were created in 1949 and have sustained their membership for over 30 years. They do the job that Trustees, working parents, teachers, and students can’t do. They advocate for public education, informing and advising elected officials on the impacts of legislation.

If you have ever been a citizen lobbyist (I have) you know how much time it takes from work and your family to speak with staff and elected officials and to speak at hearings. Unlike the high paid lobbyists working for the homebuilders in Texas, I could only spend a week or two in Austin to advocate for consumers. The little guys (you and your family) are out gunned especially when it comes to the cost of home insurance, electricity, new homes, and other consumer issues.

And students, parents, and teachers are also out gunned especially when the State and Scott Bowen is hell bent on dismantling public education. You can watch Bowen’s 3 minutes of fame here.
