8 Day out campaign finance reports for CCISD

Peter Lauzon
Lauson has raised only $503 from inside CCISD. He has accepted $7070 from two candidates/PACs. Alexandra Mealer who lost her election in 2022 and has sued, like trump, claiming fraud (there was none) has donated $2070 for texting services. Another $5000 was donated by an extreme far right PAC from Dallas funded by two billionaires. He donated another $1000 of his own money to the campaign for a total of $3000. He has spent a total of $8100 with $6060 going towards mailers. He has $294 cash on hand.

It is sad that he has to depend on money from outside the district. He is in this race for the far right reasons.

In Texas calling a woman the C word gets you reelected. Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller

Texas has their own unique Texas sized family values.

Case in point. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid “The C*nt” Miller. Unlike Tucker Carlson who was fired from Fox News for calling a woman the C word, Sid Miller was reelected to serve the woman of Texas. Twice. Maybe Texas Republican women have lower self esteem and don’t mind an elected official referring to anyone as a C*nt.

Usually anyone referring to a woman as a C*nt would be fired, slapped, or would get a well deserved ass kicking but here in Texas it’s just a part of Republican Christian family values and will end with a reelection. Texas Republican women aren’t snowflakes. They don’t mind the abuse just as long as they are owning the libs.

Miller isn’t the only one who has problems with women. State Representative Bryan Slaton is being accused of porking an intern and is currently under investigation. And there is Senator Charles Schwertner who sent dick pics to a student at Texas University. And there was former Congressman Joe Barton who resigned after sending dick pics to a woman. And Congressman Blake Farenthold was accused of sexual harassment.

All of them are republicans.

Can CCISD voters beat back billionaires?

Can we do it again?

CCISD voters have rejected UFOs (Unqualified For Office) candidates in the past. The CCISD’s version of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Christine Parizo, lost by 25% but she demanded recounts and opinions from the Texas Attorney General leading to her being escorted out of a CCISD Board meeting.

Misty Dawson, one of the biggest UFOs to ever run for school board lost but only by 40 votes. She literally was unable to answer questions at an education forum. She lost and after a recount pulled a republican trick and sued like the whiny little witches of the Harris County Republican Party. She was recruited by Trustee Scott Bowen and funded in part by the party.

This election is different. Trustee Bowen reached out to his buddies at Defend Texas Liberty PAC, to fund Peter Lauzon’s campaign. This group is funded by two billionaires, featured on CNN, with the sole purpose of flooding school districts with partisan money in order to take over the boards. Lauzon is also lacking in education experience and common decency. His many faults should be enough for him to be disqualified from running for any office but when you have billionaires funding your campaign anything can happen.

We are waiting for that anything to happen. CCISD voters have seen the chaos brought to the board by partisan hacks like Scott Bowen pushing the CRT unicorn and the attacks on our gay family members, parents, teachers, students, and CCISD workers. Hopefully they will see through their bullshit even after being flooded with mailers from the billionaires. Our kids, teachers, parents, and the community deserve better.

BTW. Campaign finance reports are due this Friday. We will see if anyone is hiding donations.

Keep partisan politics out of CCISD! Go vote!

There is only one race we need to be concerned about concerning the upcoming CCISD election.

Trustee Candidate, Peter Lauzon, does not need to be close to schools, parents, teachers, or children. There are just so many reasons to reject him including:

Why he is running if he has no interest in public education? It is clear Trustee Bowen recruited him so he could get a second on divisive issues and resolutions on the Board. He would be nothing but a mouthpiece for Scott. He is funded by one extreme organization from the Dallas area who gave him $5000. He is simply a partisan hack.

There is a better choice. If you want to keep partisan politics off the CCISD School Board, then take a moment to vote.

Bill requiring posting theTen Commandments in all CCISD schools advances

You might think this is Satire Sunday. It is but this is actually real. Sort of.

Let us prey. State Senator Phil King has advanced a bill to force all CCISD schools to post the Ten Commandments. According to King “Posting the ten commandments will cut down on mass shootings in schools, as well as bullying, stealing from fellow students, and screwing their teachers.”

A conflict concerning which version of the Ten Commandments should be posted caused quite a ruckus between the Catholics and Babtists including fighting and a few “goddamnits” mixed in. “Goddamnit the only version of the Commandments is the true version by the Catholic Church. Catholics are the largest Christian group in America and we, and only we should determine which version should be displayed.”

Bay Area’s Senator Money Mayes Middleton has offered a compromise bill with the following commandments:

1. I AM THE LORD THY GOD: THOU SHALT NOT HAVE STRANGE GODS BEFORE ME EXCEPT FOR DONALD TRUMP

2. THOU SHALL NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN, GODDAMNIT

3. KEEP THE SABBATH HOLY UNLESS YOU ARE WATCHING NFL.

4. HONOUR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER. MOTHERF***ER.

Data shows Harris County Republican’s lawsuits are just like Trump. Total bullshit.

The multiple lawsuits, filed by Harris County Republicans after they got their asses kicked in 2022, are frivolous and the investigation by the Houston Chronicle shows it.

A Houston Chronicle examination of election data found that while there were problems and technical glitches, there remains no evidence voters were systematically disenfranchised. Nor is there evidence the Election Day issues prompted people not to vote in numbers great enough to change the outcome of any of the races being contested.

Sounds familiar? It’s what Fox News knew all along about the 2020 election and they are paying for it today. Unfortunately facts don’t matter to republicans, lies do. This entire set of frivolous lawsuits are designed to drain Judges from campaign money since, as sitting judges, they cannot accept pro bono legal assistance and the County cannot represent them. They are also about continuing to create more distrust of our paper trail voting system. There was no election fraud. They know it. Fox News knew it. We know it. And they lost 65 out of 69 races.

The lawsuits claim there was an effort by the Election Administrator to limit ballots to certain locations therefore some voters did not get an opportunity to vote. The data shows otherwise. Not one individual has reported not being able to vote due to the paper shortages in the 29 voting locations.

BTW In Harris County voters can vote at any location in the county. They can visit Harrisvotes.org and find another location with the shortest lines. There were over 1000 locations across the county and they can even vote at the their local early voting location. Judges at the polling location have maps of all voting locations. Polling locations are operated by 2 judges one from each party. If there was a shortage then why didn’t the republican judges allow that to happen?

The Chronicles article is a good read. Here are some results:

In more than eight hours of public hearings [on voting bills in Austin] largely focused on Harris County’s November election, no one testified that they had difficulty casting a ballot in Harris County. 

Based on interviews and the county time-stamped data, the Chronicle was able to confirm 20 of the 29 voting locations cited by Republicans ran out of ballot paper.

Of the 29 locations, 55 percent were in precincts won by former President Donald Trump.

Under the countywide election system in place since 2019, voters can cast ballots at any polling place — they are not limited to their home precinct. Around half of Election Day voters cast ballots outside their home precincts that first year.

What is MAGAt Mattress Mac whining about?

MAGAt Mac, pictured with Wayne Dolcefino, was at the Texas Capitol whining about election fraud. Again. According to the Houston Chronicle:

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale pressed state senators on Tuesday to help him access Harris County election records from last November’s midterms, using the remarks in Austin to denounce his home county as crime-ridden under Democratic leaders.

Nothing worse than a whiny ass little bitch. So what records does MAGAt Mac want to access? Good question. Wayne Dolcefino was an investigative reporter for KTRK and was sued by Sylvester Turner. From the Houston Press:

Sure, there have been some stories attached to his name, with the most infamous one being the accusation lobbed by then-KTRK reporter Wayne Dolcefino on the eve of the closely contested 1991 mayoral race that Turner was involved in an elaborate insurance scam. Turner refuted the claim—which a jury later found to have been “defamatory, false, [and] published with actual malice”—but the damage had been done. His campaign went into freefall, and he lost the election.

Turner was awarded millions by the jury. Dolcefino left KTRK in 2012.

Dolcefino filed 9 open record requests on behalf of MAGAt Mac concerning the 2022 election. Personally I think this is a fishing expedition looking for election fraud. I also think this lawsuit is nothing but a way to put doubt into our elections, claiming that the election was fraudulent (it wasn’t). Hopefully the judge will see through this and sanction their attorneys. You can read all the open record request here. The County has already responded to Mac claiming there is information that must be approved by the Texas AG (the one that is under a felony indictment) before being released. Mac can’t wait and needs to create chaos. Here is a summary of the requests:

  • Nov 17, 2022 phone records, emails etc from Clifford Tatum, the Elections Administrator.
  • Dec 7, 2022 Same as Above
  • Dec 8, 2022 Any documents detailing any maintenance issues with any election machines on November 8, 2022. Any documents detailing maintenance for logic and accuracy of election voting machines between October 30, 2022 and November 5, 2022. 
  • Dec 27, 2022 Any documents detailing the amount of ballot paper originally provided on election day (November 8, 2022) to all precincts in Harris County. A document detailing the number of voters who voted at each precinct in the Harris County 2020 election. Any emails, sent or received, including attachments, received by the Harris County Elections Administrator’s Office from any Harris County precinct judges regarding a shortage of paper for ballots on election day (November 8, 2022. 
  • Dec 27, 2022 A document detailing the number of voters who voted at each precinct in the Harris County 2022 election. 
  • Jan 18, 2023 Any written complaints or documented phone call complaints regarding the Harris County 2022 election received by the Harris County Elections Administrator’s Office or the Office of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo between November 8, 2022 and the present. 
  • Jan 18, 2023 A list of all polling locations for the Harris County 2020 and 2022 elections. Any emails, sent or received, including attachments by Clifford Tatum regarding the Secretary of State audit of the Harris County 2022 election. 
  • Jan 23, 2023 Any emails, sent or received, including attachments by Clifford Tatum regarding the maintenance of polling machines, supplies of ballot paper, and/or addition or removal of polling locations between May 1, 2022 and November 8, 2022. 
  • Feb 9, 2023 A copy of each mail in ballot application to display signature and return envelope, and any related document which shows the signature of each mail in ballot for the Harris County 2022 election.

Who has to be shot before the shooting stops?

The shooting will only stop when the shooting starts.

It’s clear something extraordinary has to happen before elected officials take action to curb gun violence. Voters haven’t taken action, returning every elected gun nut in Texas responsible for the Uvalde massacre, giving that 18 year old easy access to weapons of war that even police are afraid of.

Republicans aren’t going to do anything. What did they do to protect children after:

20 toddlers were slaughtered in Sandy Hook
19 third graders in Uvalde,
27 Christians at church in Sutherland Springs,
12 Asian Americans in Monterey Park,
10 African Americans in Buffalo,
23 Mexican Americans in El Paso,
11 Jews in Pittsburg,
8 high school students and 2 teachers in Santa Fe,
17 high school students in Stoneman Douglas High School,
61 country music fans in Las Vegas,
5 police in Dallas,
50 gays in Orlando Fl,
13 service men/women at a Navy base,

13 soldiers at Ft Hood
10 workers in San Jose
33 students at Virginia Tech,

7 patriotic Americans at a 4th of July parade
1 police dog in Allen Kentucky.

What have they done? They passed more bills to allow open carry of assault weapons, without a permit, a license, or common sense. It if isn’t clear by now it should be. Republicans don’t give a flying fuck about us, our police, or even our goddamn dogs.

Christian Republican State Representative Bryan Slaton. It’s like a nightmare.

It’s like a nightmare isn’t it? It just gets worse and worse. –The Color of Money

OMG! (literally) Christian Conservative Republican State Representative Bryan Slaton, 45 and married, is in really deep poo after an ethics complaint was filed against him for providing alcohol to an underage intern. But, as in The Color of Money, it’s getting worse. Much worse. According to the Texas Tribune:

A Capitol staffer alleged in an internal complaint that state Rep. Bryan Slaton, R-Royse City, had “sexual relations” with an intern two weeks ago.

Oh fuuuuuuuudge! Not only is it a crime to provide alcohol to someone under the age of 21, a misdemeanor, having sex with an intern might be an abuse of power, a felony. But OMG it just gets worse:

The same day, Slaton allegedly showed the intern emails from his personal account that accused him of having sex with a staffer, according to the complaint. The staffer believed Slaton wrote the emails as a test to see if she would report him. Slaton told her and her friends to keep quiet, according to the report.

And….obstructing justice is yet another felony. Luckily the Republicans are taking action by filing a bill to address Republicans having sex with interns. (Seriously) “Sen. Drew Springer, R-Muenster, drafted bill language that would target members of the Legislature who engage in grooming behavior with victims under the age of 21.” It’s amazing that a bill has to be filed to tell republicans not to pork interns or not to send dic pics as Republican Senator Charles Schwertner did.

The republican controlled House is trying to coverup this situation by starting an internal investigation. I am sure the Travis County DA has already started their own investigation. I bet Slaton is having a heck of a time explaining all this to his church and wife. BTW Slaton is a former pastor, received a BA in youth ministry and served as a youth minister for 13 years in The Church of Incredible Hypocrites.

CCISD Candidate Forum recap.

The one and only candidate forum was sponsored by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce. You can view the entire forum here. Here are my thoughts.

There are three candidates running for Trustee that could probably talk your ears off when it comes to education issues, Jamieson Mackay, Glencora Rodgers, and Trustee Arturo Sanchez. All three showed a clear understanding of the issues, but you could tell that a one minute response was not enough for them to provide an adequate response. They all just seemed to have an in depth knowledge of education issues, something we should appreciate.

In District 2 voters will have a tough choice. Both would be a great addition to the Board and community. Both know the issues and both are passionate about education. What more can you ask for?

Arturo Sanchez is clearly the most qualified of candidates for District 3, hands down. His experience, passion, and in depth knowledge of educational issues cannot be matched. As with Mackay and Rodgers, Sanchez will not bring division to our community.

There were a couple of interesting questions which I will highlight below after my next rant.

Peter Lauzon
Peter Lauzon, on the other hand, stuck to what he knew and for those who do not know the background of the issues he might have come off as reasonable. On a number of times he talked about the 2.5% cap on the budget claiming it hinders the growth of the district. Yes there is a cap, but it’s not exactly the highest priority of the district and that cap was put on the district by the state, which is run by his own party. (republican)

He had a chance to denounce vouchers but instead he said CCISD would have to deal with it since his party will probably pass that into law. Everyone else talked about how that would take funds away from CCISD students.

He also kept mentioning that CCISD needs to offer alternative technical courses for those who do not intend to go to college. Again, CCISD has an excellent Career and Technical Education program something a candidate should know. He said CCISD should partner with the Texas Workforce Commission. (They already have a partnership) He said metrics and benchmarking are needed to measure the progress of students. (They do that already) He piggy backed on another candidates comment about establishing faith based partnerships. (They do that already)

He wants more funding for safety, although his party has flooded our streets with guns, allowing 18 year olds to buy assault weapons, allowing anyone to buy a walk around in public with guns. The district has spent millions on safety measures all because his party will not solve the problem of gun violence.

When asked about getting questions on social media he claimed that he would reach out to the parents to understand the issue, yet he has blocked a number of people on his Facebook page.

When asked about what specific training he would need to become an effective Trustee he answered that he would take all the training provided. (didn’t really answer the question)

Bullying and threats
I thought the question about bullying at the school board meeting needs to be discussed in an open forum. Glencora could have taken 10 minutes to talk about civility at the meetings but her response was what we all expected. It needs to stop and civility needs to return to the board meetings. She was also asked about what to do about threats to Board members. I did not remember the response, but I think we all know this is unacceptable and some people need to get a life.

Vouchers, school choice, charter schools
Every candidate should have been asked about vouchers. Except for Lauzon, all three had great answers to vouchers and charter schools. Vouchers will take money away from the district, a district that has excellent choices for education. Charter schools should be required to adhere to the same public school standards since they are using tax dollars. Lauzon had opportunities to voice his opinion but didn’t. His party’s platform supports vouchers, charter schools, and privatizing public education.

Other questions that were not asked
I would have like to hear if anyone would accept PAC money or money from partisan organizations. So far only one candidate has. There should have been a question about what the Board could do to address the loss of funding from vouchers.
